Record a Message/Replace Exisiting Message
With the telephone off-hook, press 9, followed by *. Depending
on your system setting, 9 may not work. In this case, press 1
instead, followed by *. Listen for a short confirmation tone over the
receiver. The "Greeting" LED will illuminate while a greeting is being
recorded. Speak into the telephone receiver to record your message.
Hang-up the telephone, or for best results, press the release key to
minimize noise upon hang up. Check that the "Greeting" and "In Use"
LEDs go off.
Test Recorded Message
From another telephone, call the MBS Centrex telephone connected
to the 5002 unit. Lift telephone receiver to answer incoming call. The
"In Use" LED should come on and you should hear your recorded
message play back. Observe that the "Greeting" LED is lit up while your
message is playing.
Note: The maximum message length is 15 seconds. You will hear a
tone when this time expires. Your message will be truncated at
this point. Repeat above instructions to re-record the message.
Erase Recorded Message and Disable Auto-Greeter
Lift the receiver and press 9 (or 1), then * as per recording
instructions. Hang-up or press “Release” within one second.
Note: Disconnecting power to the 5002 device will also erase the
message.

About the 5002 Centrex Auto Greeter
The Centrex Auto Greeter consists of the 5002 unit and power
adapter, and is compatible with M5008, M5208, M5216 and M5316
MBS Centrex telephone sets. The Auto Greeter plays a pre-recorded
greeting when a Meridian Business Set (MBS) telephone answers a
call.
LED Indicators
1. POWER - indicates power-on state
2. GREETING - lit during recording/playing of message
3. RxD (Receive Data) - blinks when data is detected on an MBS
Centrex telephone line
4. IN USE - lit while telephone is off-hook.
Installation
Connect a telephone cord from MBS Centrex telephone to the jack
labelled “TEL” on 5002 unit. Connect a second telephone cord from
the jack labelled “LINE” on the 5002 unit to a Centrex wall mounted
jack. Allow a couple of seconds for the telephone to connect, then lift
receiver and check for dial-tone. Connect power supply to 5002 unit.
The "Power" LED should light up. Lift telephone receiver and ensure
that "In Use" LED is on. This indicates that the phone is off-hook.
Note: Auto-Greeter is disabled until message is recorded.
