Operational safety and process reliability are becoming critical considerations due
to increasing demands on efciency, stricter requirements and expanding process
automation. Whether in ports, on railways and waterways or on manufacturing sites
wherever there are objects in motion there is a risk of collisions. Outdoor locations may

The AOS LiDAR object detection system ts for all applications where a single sensor for area monitoring,

AOS LiDAR OBJECT DETECTION SYSTEMS
UNIQUE PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION
The 2D LiDAR sensor integrated into the system detects every object that enters the
monitoring eld and reports the eld intrusion to the safety controller via a switching
outputs. The safety controller evaluates the signals and if necessary, sends a war-
ning or stop signal to the higher-level system or machine controller.
The patented system design with self-test function ensures maximum reliability. The
modular system construction and customizable conguration options allow the AOS
LiDAR to be easily integrated into a wide range of applications.

Self-test cycles for advanced reliability
The integrated self-test function ensures that the 2D
LiDAR sensor continuously detects the test target and
sends correct switching signals. If a correct response is
not received, the controller is locked and sends a signal to
the higher-level machine controller. The connecting cables
are also cyclically monitored. The high degree of diagno-
stic coverage also assists with obtaining individual safety
certications for machinery.

The AOS LiDAR (Advanced Object
Detection System) helps to avoid the
downtime and costs associated with
accidents and vandalism. The system
solution offers added value in appli-
cations where monitoring with a single
sensor just isn’t enough and maximum
operational reliability is essential. The
solution is based on a safety controller,
which runs cyclical tests to check sensor
detection behavior, sensor response to
entry commands, and that output
signals are switching correctly. Thanks
to the precongured sensors and
