D. Connect the included HDMI cable (black
cable with flat gold ends) from the HDPVR to
your TV. Both video and audio travel through
the HDMI cable. Note the input you plug your
HDMI cable into on the back of your TV (e.g.
HDMI 1, HDMI 2, etc.).
For more advanced audio/video setups, please refer to
the manufacturer’s guide included with your HDPVR.
E. Connect the included power adapter from
the wall power outlet to the HDPVR.

A. Turn on your TV, and select the input (e.g. HDMI 1, HDMI 2, etc.)
that you plugged the HDPVR into in Step 2-D. You may see a
blue box appear on your TV or a “no signal” message - don’t
worry, this is normal.
C. Activate your HDPVR online by
visiting myaccount.shaw.ca.
Login or register if you do not
have an account. Once signed in,
under TV section, please select
Self-Install TV equipment and
follow the instructions on your
screen. The activation process
will take approximately 10 mins.
D. During this time messages
(OCAP, APP, ChIP, PSLd, etc)
will display on the front panel
of your HDPVR. Your HDPVR
will be “ready” when the front
panel displays the current
time, and is powered off.
B. Your HDPVR will be “ready” for activation
once “noCP” displays on the front panel.
Remove a device or disable Parental Controls for a device.

E. To program your Shaw Universal Remote to work with your TV (adjust volume etc.), follow the “Quick Setup”
instructions on the reverse of the remote or visit urcsupport.com/shaw
If you wish to place your HDPVR out of sight (i.e. in a cabinet), plug your IR Receiver into EXT IR IN on the back of your HDPVR. Place
the IR Receiver where your remote’s signal will have a clear line of sight with the IR Receiver.
IMPORTANT - don’t disconnect power or press any buttons on the set top or remote during activation, as it may interrupt the
