2. WIRELESS (WPL) SPEAKERS
(STANDARD/SUPPORTED SETUP)
Motivation: Customers might want to use WPL (wireless) speakers
Solution: Connect a “BeoLab Transmitter 1” to the BeoSound Essence
hide-away box
Equipment and cables needed:
BeoLab Transmitter 1 (type no: 1505-1513)
1 x Powerlink (RJ45) cable (xxx) if 2 speakers will be used
2 x Powerlink (RJ45) cables (xxx) if 4 speakers will be used
Advantages: All the use-cases of BeoSound Essence are supported
Disadvantages: -
Considerations/Notes:
The distance between Transmitter 1 and Essence will need to be
more than 30 cm to reduce interference from antenna co-location
The “BeoLab Trasmitter 1” is recommended to have line-of-sight with
speakers, while the BeoSound Essence hide-away box can be
hidden.
The link between BeoSound Essence and BeoLab Transmitter 1 is

3. CONNECTING BEOSOUND ESSENCE TO AN EXISTING BANG & OLUFSEN AUDIO SYSTEM (A)
Motivation: Customer already has an audio “master” and would like to use
BeoSound Essence as a way to enable music from mobile devices, to
existing system. Wants the remote to be more useful for content control
(than one-touch music start and volume control)
Solution: Connect the BS Essence, via line-in, to the existing audio system
Equipment/Cables needed:
1 x RJ45 Power Link to 2 x Phono (male) 6271216
Advantages: Customer can still use sources of existing system, and his
existing remote control (Beo4), for volume operation
Disadvantages:
Volume needs to be controlled by audio master (directly or via Beo4)
BS Essence Remote can be used for previous/next/pause/start, but
cannot be used for volume control
BS Essence Remote cannot be used to start the full system, with a
single touch (i.e. customer needs to first start audio master to “A.
AUX” source)
Considerations/Notes:
Volume has to be set to Fixed Output” on BeoSound Essence, via
BeoSetup application

4. CONNECTING BEOSOUND ESSENCE TO AN EXISTING BANG & OLUFSEN AUDIO SYSTEM (B)
Motivation: Customer already has an audio “master” and would like to use BeoSound
Essence as a way to enable music from mobile devices, to existing system. Wants the
remote to be more useful for one touch music access and volume control (than content
control. He will use App for that)
Solution:
Connect the BS Essence, via line-in, to the existing audio system
Set BeoSound Essence Remote to Beo4 IR mode (“RADIO”)
Equipment/Cables needed:
1 x RJ45 Power Link to 2 x Phono (male) 6271216
Advantages:
Customer can still use sources of existing system, and his existing remote control
(Beo4), for volume operation
Customer can use BS Essence remote for volume control, and previous/next tracks
on “old” sources only (CD, RADIO), but not on BS Essence sources
One-touch music start will always start FM RADIO, even from stand-by
Music silence??
Disadvantages:
BS Essence Remote cannot control the BeoSound Essence Sources (mobile device
needs to be used for that)
BS Essence needs to be put to stand-by via the App (in case of some sources)
Considerations/Notes:
Volume has to be set to “Fixed Output” on BeoSound Essence, via BeoSetup
application
The BS Essence Remote now communicates the audio master, via infrared, so it
needs proper line-of-sight with the product. Consider during installation / mounting.

for volume control

6. CONNECTING BEOSOUND ESSENCE TO A BANG & OLUFSEN TV (B)
Motivation: Customer has a Bang & Olufsen TV and would like to use BeoSound Essence as a way to
enable music from mobile devices. Wants the remote to be more useful for one touch music access
and volume control (than content control.
Cable SCART female - Mini DIN 0.75m, black - 6271215

Disadvantages:
BS Essence Remote cannot control the BeoSound Essence Sources (mobile device needs to
be used for that)

The BS Essence Remote now communicates the TV, via infrared, so it needs proper line-of-

7. CONNECTING BEOSOUND ESSENCE TO A BANG & OLUFSEN TV WITH
EXTERNAL SPEAKERS VIA BEOLAB TRANSMITTER 1
Motivation: Customer has a Bang & Olufsen TV and would like to use BeoSound
Essence as a music system, while the TV is not operating. Customer has a
BeoLab Transmitter 1 and multiple speakers
Solution: Connect the BeoSound Essence to the line-in (RCA) of the BeoLab
Transmitter 1
Equipment/Cables needed:
1 x RJ45 Power Link to 2 x Phono (male) 6271216
Advantages: Customer can use the BeoSound Essence as indented (all use
cases)
Disadvantages:
Beo4 cannot control BeoSound Essence
TV needs to be turned-off, otherwise the BeoSound Essence music will not
be prioritized (Line-in has the lowest priority on the BL Transmitter 1)
There might be a delay (10 sec) for the line-sensing to sense the signal and
switch to the BeoSound Essence sound
Stand-by of BS Essence cannot happen via Beo4 or via system “all stand-
by
Turning on the TV will “take over” the sound, but the BS Essence still needs
to be put in stand-by by BS Essence Remote or BeoMusic App
Considerations/Notes:
The distance between Transmitter 1 and Essence will need to be more than
30 cm to reduce intereference from antenna co-location
