,
Windows NT and Novell NetWare v4.11.
E
XPRESS
B
UILDER
The following advisory applies when using the bootable
version of E
XPRESS
B
UILDER
2.3:
When creating driver diskettes from
E
XPRESS
B
UILDER
, DO NOT use the "Install
Operating System" from the Custom Setup Menu;
use the "Creation of Support FD" option. Select
Creation of Support FD and choose the appropriate
LAN drivers for your system. For the SecuRAID 530
(Mylex AcceleRAID 1100), choose the Mylex option.
Windows NT
The following advisory applies when using Windows
NT:
When installing Windows NT 4.0, the floppy diskette
install procedure must be used if your system is
configured to use the AIC7895 SCSI and the
SecuRAID 530 (Mylex AcceleRAID 1100) controllers.
During the Windows NT installation process, the
following system message is displayed:
Setup automatically detects floppy disk
controllers….. To continue, press ENTER. Setup
will attempt to detect mass storage devices in your
computer (auto-detection). To skip mass storage
device detection, press S. Setup will allow you to
manually select SCSI adapters, CD ROM drives
and disk controllers for installation.
When this message is displayed, press the "S" key to
skip auto-detection. Setup will allow you to
manually select SCSI adapters, CD-ROM drives and
special disk controllers for installation.

Press the "S" to allow you to select the
manufacturer's driver diskettes to be used during
the installation. Place the appropriate driver
diskette(S) into the diskette drive.
SecuRAID 530 and AIC7895 driver diskettes are
created using the E
XPRESS
B
UILDER CD-ROM.
OS/2
The following advisory applies to OS/2 WARP 3.x, 4.0,
or SMP:
Use the following procedure for a first time
installation of OS/2 WARP 3.x, 4.0, or SMP from
CD-ROM.
1.
Use Diskcopy to make backup copies of all IBM
OS/2 diskettes. Use backup diskettes as your
working diskettes.
NOTE: In the next step, delete adapter driver
files only if the corresponding adapter is not
installed in your system.
2.
Delete some of the existing driver files on the
backup copy of the OS/2 diskette #1 so that
approximately 140KB of disk space is available.
3.
Copy the AIC7870.add driver from the Adaptec
7800 Family Manager Set diskette for OS/2 onto
OS/2 diskette #1.
4.
For each driver removed from the OS/2 diskette
#1, in step 2 above, "rem" out the corresponding
line in the Config.sys file on OS/2 diskette #1.
5.
In the Config.sys file on OS/2 diskette #1, add
the line "set copyfromfloppy=1". This line is
added so that the install process copies the
AIC7870.add driver from the OS/2 diskette #1
rather than the driver included with your OS/2
CD-ROM.

SCSI Adapter Support icon.
8.
Deselect any highlighted adapters, including all
Adaptec adapters, and click OK. The text box for
SCSI Adapter Support should read "None".
NOTE: If the SCSI adapters are not deselected,
the driver included on the CD-ROM will be
copied over the driver being installed.
9.
Follow the instructions in your OS/2
documentation to complete the installation.
10.
When the installation is complete, and the
system reboots; should you get the following
error: "System cannot operate you hard disk"
take the following action:
a.
Reboot the system using the OS/2 Installation
diskettes.
b.
Press F3, when prompted, to get to a
command prompt.
