Advisories
This section contains advisories on the ExpressBuilder
,
SCO, and the BIOS
Setup Utility.
ExpressBuilder
The following advisory applies to ExpressBuilder.
!
If you already have an operating system installed when creating a
maintenance partition, ExpressBuilder will warn you of the existing
partition. If you want to preserve the installed operating system, do not
create the maintenance partition or the existing operating system will be
overlaid by the maintenance partition.
!
ExpressBuilder EasySetup will always configure the Windows 2000 TCP/IP
Protocol IP settings to obtain an IP address automatically (DHCP),
regardless of the setting specified in EasySetup.
!
After installation, the Windows 2000 Device Manager may show an NEC
GEM SCSI Processor Device and/or an Unknown Device under Other
Devices. The Unknown Device is referenced on the baseboard management
controller. Both of these conditions can be cleared by installing the
ESMPRO Agent.
!
The ExpressBuilder DOS ASPI driver is not supported.

!
The Administrator Menu in the System Information Management segment
of the Offline Maintenance Utility is not user accessible.
!
ExpressBuilder operates in floppy emulation mode. Your system CD-ROM
drive is designated Drive A and your system diskette drive is Drive B. After
creating the Off-line Maintenance Utility diskette, ExpressBuilder prompts
you to remove the diskette from Drive B. At this prompt, remove the
diskette from your diskette drive.
BIOS Setup Utility
The following advisories apply to the BIOS Setup Utility (F2):
!
General Help (F1) description states that pressing the ESC or Alt-X keys
exits the BIOS Setup Utility. Pressing either of these keys exits the current
menu and returns you to the previous menu. If you are displaying the BIOS
Setup Utility Main Menu, pressing either of these keys takes you to the Exit
Menu.
SCO
The following advisory applies when using SCO 5.05:
!
During the installation of SCO or any time thereafter when booting SCO a
warning message may appear as follows:
WARNING: Cannot connect to APM, error 0x0036 System loaded, press
<Return> to start:
To prevent the WARNING message from appearing, boot the system to single-
user Mode. Edit the /etc/default/boot file. Add "apm.check=no" to the end of the
line indicated by the "DEFBOOTSTR=" entry.
System Hardware
The following advisory applies to the Plug and Play feature of your server's I/O
expansion boards.
!
The Windows 2000 Operating System requires that your server’s PnP O/S
feature be enabled. Before installing the Windows 2000 Operating System,
run the BIOS Setup Utility as described in Chapter 3 of your User’s Guide,
to verify the PnP O/S feature is enabled. Your User’s Guide is included on
ExpressBuilder.
The following advisory applies to the USB ports on your server's external device
connectors.
!
The factory standard default value of the USB ports on your server is
"Disabled". To enable them, the USB Controller feature in the Peripheral
Configuration Submenu of the BIOS Setup Utility "BIOS Setup
Configuration Settings" must be changed to "Enabled". Refer to
Chapter 3 of your User’s Guide. Your User’s Guide is included on
ExpressBuilder.
