On AC voltage

On placement

• Do not use the system in places whichare extremely hot, cold,

dusty or humid.

• Place the systemon a flat, even surface.

• Be carefulnot to obstructthe ventilationholeson the rearpanel,

as increasedinternaltemperaturemay affectthe electricparts. In

particular,donot placethe systemin an airtightrack.

• If usingthe systemnear televisionor radio,noisemay be heard

from the television,radioorthis system. Keepthis system away

from the affectedtelevisionor radio.

On safety

• When connecting and disconnecting the AC cord,grip the plug

and not thecorditself. Pullingthe cord maydamage it andthus

be hazardous.

• Whenyouarenotgoingtousethesystemfor alongperiodoftime,

disconnectthe ACcord. Ifthecord isplugged in,a smallamount

ofcurrentkeepsonflowing tothesystemeven ifthe powerswitch

isnot ON.

• Ifthe AC cord isbrokenor damaged, orifthe wiresare exposed,

contact your dealer or an Aiwa service station and have it

replacedor repairedimmediately.

On condensation

When the roomisheated, you sometimessee water drops on your

windows;this iscalledcondensation.

This canoccur insidethe CD player unitwhen:

• it ismovedfrom acold spotto a warm spot.

• itisusedina roomwherethe heatingsystemhasjustbeenturned

on.

• it isused ina place witha lot of moisture.

• itisusedwhere ithasdirectcontactwithcoolair,suchasnear an

air-conditioner.

When ithascondensationinside,the unitmaynotfunction normally.

Letitstandfor 1to2 hoursbeforeturningthe poweron;or,gradually

heat the room and dry the unitbefore use.

Should any trouble occur, disconnect the AC cord and refer

servicing to qualified personnel only.

CONNECTIONS

BASIC CONNECTIONS

Connect the equipmentand accessoriesfollowing steps 1to 3.

After connectingthe following items, as shown inillustrationI_II,

the unitis ready for operation.

• Refer also to page 30 on connecting optional equipment, for

example, a television or turntable.

1 Connect the speakers with the unit.

Connect the right speaker to the R terminal, and the left to the

Lterminal.

Open the leverofthe speakerterminals andinsertthe conductor

of the speaker cords with the stripe to • and that of the other

cords to G.

Then, shut the lever to lock.

LOOP

IF FM

75_

• This speaker system is magnetically shielded. However, if

the speaker should affect the coloron yourTV screen, turn off

the TV and turn it on again 15 - 30 minutes later. If the TV

screen still has poor color, place the speaker system away

from the TV.

• Do not leave magnets or objects generating magnetism near

the speaker system.

2 Connect the supplied antennas.

Connect the antenna cords, pushing the lever of each terminal,

and insert the conductor. Then, release the lever to lock.

FM:Connect the conductors ofthe supplied FM feeder antenna

®to the FM 75 _ terminals.

AM: Connect the conductors of the supplied AM loop antenna

@to the AM LOOP terminals.

CONNECTIONS

To position each antenna

FM feod(_r antenna

Extend this antenna horizontally in a T- shapeand fix its ends to

the wall with cellophane tape.

Do not bring the ends of the FM feeder antenna near metal

objects or curtain rails.

AM 100pantenna

To stand the antenna on asurface, fix the claw tothe slot. After

standing it, position it to find the best direction and position for

radio reception. ---*See illustration I_.

To fix the antenna to the wall, use screws (_ (not supplied).

• Do not unwind the AM loop antennawire.

• Do not bring the AM loop antenna near a turntable system,

CD player, TV monitor, or the stereo system itself, or close

to the AC cord or speaker cords, since noise will be picked

up.

3 Connect the AC cord.

Connect the AC cord to an AC outlet. When the AC cord is

connected, the clock display flashes.

If setting up with other equipment, connect the AC cord after

setting.

CONNECTION WITH OUTDOOR ANTENNA

For better FM reception, it is recommended that an outdoor

antenna be connected.

Connect the outdoor antenna to the FM 75_ terminals.

ON THE MAIN UNIT

To turn on the unit _ See Illustration If_.

Press the POWER button.

For 4 seconds after turning on the unit, onlythe function buttons and

the VOLUME control can be operated.

After use

Press the POWER button to turn off the power. The display

indication is faded and only the clock is displayed.

Headphone use

Connect headphones with a e6.3 mm/1/4 in. plug to the PHONES

jack.

When the headphones are connected, sound cannot be heard from

the speakers.

In case of power Interruption

The clock display flashes.

• Iffor lessthanabout24 hours, the clockdoesnotworkduringthe

powerinterruption.

The current time has to be set again (see page 14).

• Iffor morethan about24 hours, thecurrenttime,presetstations

and timer have to be set again.

ON THE REMOTE CONTROL

Remote control setting

Detach the batterycover on the rear ofthe remote control and insert

two R6 (sizeAA) batteries. _ See illustration I'_!.

Battery replacement

The maximum operation distance of the remote control should be

approximately 5 meters (16 feet). When this distance decreases,

replace the batteries with new ones.

• Do not mix different types of batteries, or old batteries with new

ones.

• When you are not going to use the remote control for a long period

of time, remove the batteries to prevent possible electrolyte

leakage.

Hints for correct operation

The remote control does not operate or incorrect operation may

occur when:

• there is an obstruction between the remote control and the unit.

• the remote sensor is exposed to a strong light like the hot sun.

• other remote controls like those of television is used.

Each of the buttons has two different functions. One of these

functions is indicated on the button top, and the other on the plate

above the button.

To use the function indicated on the button top, just press the

button.

To use the function indicated on the plate above the button,

press the button while pressing the SHIFT button.

To use the FUNCTION button _ See illustration r_].

The FUNCTION button substitutes for the function buttons (TAPE,

TUNER, VIDEO/AUX, CD) on the main unit.

Each time the FUNCTION button is pressed, the functions are

selected cyclically.

CONTROL REMOTO

Preparstivos del control remoto

Abra la tapa del compartimiento de pilas situado en la traseradel

control remotoe inserte dos pilas R6 (tamafio AA). --, Veasela

Reemplazo de las pllas

La distancia maxima de operaci6n entre el control remoto y el

aparato debeser deaproximadamente 5metros.Cuando disminuya

esta distancia, reemplace las pilas con las nuevas.

• No mezcle diferentes tiposde pila, ni pilasviejascon las nuevas.

• Cuando no vaya autilizar elcontrol remoto por largo tiempo, quite

las pilas para evitar posible fuga electrolitica.

Consejos titiles para la correcta operaci6n

No funciona o funciona incorrectamente el control remoto cuando:

• hay un obstaculo entre el control remoto y el aparato.

• el sensor remoto esta expuesto a una potente luz como el sol.

• est,_ utitizandose otro control remoto, como puede ser de un

televisor.

Cada uno de los botones tienen dos diferentes funciones. Una de

estas funciones est& indicada en la parte superior del bot6n, y la

otra en la placa sobre el bot6n.

Para utilizar la funcibn indicada en la parte superior del bot6n,

basta presionar el boton.

Para utilizar la funcibn indicada en la placa sobre el botbn,

presione el bot6n mientras mantiene presionado el bot6n SHIFT.

Para utilizar el bot6n FUNCTION --* V6ase la ilustracibn l_l.

El bot6n FUNCTION substituyelos botones de funci6n (TAPE,

TUNER, VIDEO/AUX, CD) de la unidad principal.

Cada vez presione el bot6n FUNCTION, las funciones se

seleccionan cfclicamente.

UNITE PRINCIPALE

Utilisation d'un casque

Brancher un casque muni d'une fiche de 6,3 mm e & la prise

PHONES.

Quand un casque est branchd, le son ne peut pas sortir par les

enceintes.

En css de coupure secteur

L'affichagede I'horlogeclignote.

• Si la coupure dure moins d'environ 24 heures, I'horloge ne

fonctionne pas pendant lacoupure.

Seul le r_glage de rheure courante sera n_cessaire (voir page

15).

• Si la coupure dure plusd'environ 24 heures, ler_glage de rheure

courante, la m_morisation destations et le r_glage de laminuterie

seront n_cessaires.

TELECOMMANDE

Preparation de la tdl_commande

Enlever lecouvercle des piles dudos de lat_l_commandeetmettre

deuxpiles R6 (tailleAA) en place. _ Voir rillustration [].

Remplacement des plies

La distance maximale de fonctionnement de lat_l_commande est

d'environcinqm_tres. Lorsquecettedistancediminue, remplacer

les pilespar des neuves.

• Ne pas m_langer diff_rents types de piles, ni des vieilles piles

avec des neuves.

• Si la t_l_commande ne doit pas 6tre utilis_e pendant Iongtemps,

enlever les piles pour _viter tout risque de fuite d'electrolyte.

Consells pour un fonctionnement correct

Lat_lecommande ne fonctionnepasou risquede real fonctionner

quand:

• ily aun obstacleentre la t_16commandeet I'appareil.

• le capteur de t_l_commande est expos_ & une forte source

lumineusetelle que le soleil.

• une autre tdl_commande telle que celle d'un tdl6viseur est

utilis_e.

Pour utillser les touches _ _ Voir I'lllustration [].

Chacune des touches poss_de deux fonctions. Une de ces fonctions

est indiqu_e sur la touche, et rautre sur la plaque situ_e au-dessus

de la touche.

Pour utiliser la foncticn indiqu_e sur la touche, ilsuffit d'appuyer

sur cette derniere.

Pour utiliser la fonction Indiqu_e au-dessus de la touche,

appuyer sur cette derniere tout en appuyant sur la touche SHIFT.

Pour utiliser la touche FUNCTION _ Voir I'illustration [].

La touche FUNCTION sesubstitue aux touches de fonction (TAPE,

TUNER, VIDEO/AUX, CD) de I'unit_ principale.

A chaque pression sur la touche FUNCTION, les fonctions sont

s_lectionn6es de maniere cyclique.

When the AC cord is connected, the clock display flashes. Carry

out the following steps while the power is off.

1 Press the II SET button to enter the clock setting

mode.

Thedisplayindicationbecomesbrightandthe "hour"flashes.

2 Press the _1 <1 DOWN or I_ I_ UP button to desig-

nate the hour.

3 Press the II SET button to set the hour.

The "hour" stops flashing and the "minute" starts flashing.

4 Press the <1 <1 DOWN or I_ I_ UP button to desig-

nate the minute.

Press the II SET button to set the minute and

complete setting.

The minute stops flashing in the display and the clock starts

from 00 second. The display indication becomes dim.

To get a more accurate time, press the II SET button at the

desired point, as indicated by another clock or time signal.

Each colon flash in the display indicates a second.

To correct the current time --* See illustration [].

While pressing the SHIFT button, press the CLOCK button on the

remote control. The clock is displayed for 4 seconds.

Within this period, start correcting by following steps 1 to 5.

To switch display to clock while power Is on

While pressing the SHIFT button, press the CLOCK button on the

remote control. The clock isdisplayedfor4 seconds.

During recording,the clockcannot be displayed.

To switch to the 24-hour standard

The time display is factory-set to the 12-hour standard. To switch

to the 24-hour standard, press the CLOCK button on the remote

control while pressing the SHIFT button and then press the •

button within 4 seconds. Repeat the same procedure to restore the

12-hour standard.

If the clock display flashes while the power Is off

This iscaused by power interruption. Setthe currenttime again.

The prayerhas amemory functionthatallows play of upto30 tracks

in any order.

While pressing the SHIFT button, press the PRGM

button in the stop mode.

Press the numeric buttons and the +10 button to

program tracks.

@To select the 6th track, press the 6 button.

GTo select the 16th track, press the +10 and 6 buttons.

@To select the 20th track, press the +10 button twice and

then the 0 button.

When each track selected, the display @ is shown. Ina few

seconds, the display changes to (_.

3 Press the • button to start play.

To check the programmed contents

Each timethe _1<1DOWN orID,I_ UP button is pressed in thestop

mode, a track number,and a programnumber willbe displayed.

To clear the programmed contents

Pressthe• CLEAR button in thestop mode orpress the--&.OPEN/

CLOSE button.

To add tracks to the program

Inthe stop mode, carry out step 2. The track willbe programmed

nextto the lasttrack.

To change the programmed tracks

Clear the program and carry out all the steps again.

• During programmed play, the remaining time is not displayed

when the DISPLAY button is pressed.

• Random play cannot be done during programmed play.

• Ifprogrammed time is more than 99:59 minutes, or the 31th track

or later is programmed, total playing time shows --:-- in the

display.

AI seleccionar carla canci6n, se visualiza (_. En unos segundos,

la visualizaci6n cambia a _.

3 Presione el botbn I_ para iniciar la reproduccibn.

Para comprobar el contenido programado

Cada vez que presione el bot6n 4141DOWN oI=,.ID.UP en el modo

de parada, se visualizar&n un nemero de canci6n y un n_mero de

programa.

Para borrar el contenldo programado

Presione el boton • CLEAR en el modo de parada o presione el

bot6n &--.OPEN/CLOSE

Para aSadir canciones al programa

En el modo de parada, siga el paso 2. La canci6n se programar_

despues de la ultima canci6n.

Para cambiar las canciones programadas

Borre el programa y sigatodoslospasos nuevamente.

Le lecteur possbde une fonction de m_morisation qui permet la

lecture d'un maximum de 30 plages dans I'ordre d_sir_.

1 Tout en appuyant sur la touche SHIFT, appuyer

sur la touche PRGM dans le mode arr_t.

Programmer les plages b I'aide des touches

num_riques et de la touche +10.

(_ Pours_lectionnerla slxibme plage, appuyersurlatouche

(_ Pour sdlectionner la seizi_me plage, appuyer sur les

touches+10 et 6.

(_ Pour sdlectionner la vingtibme plage, appuyer deuxfois

surla touche +10 puis sur la touche 0.

Quand une plage est s_lectionn_e, I'affichage _) est montr_.

Au bout de quelques secondes, I'affichage passe a _).

3 Appuyer sur la touche I_ pour ddmarrer la lecture.

Pour contr61er les plages programmdes

A chaque pression surla touche ,4,4 DOWN ou I_1_ UP dans

le mode arr_t, un num_ro de plage et unnum_ro de programme

sontaffich6s.

Pour effacer le programme

Appuyer sur la touche • CLEAR dans le mode arr_t ou appuyer

sur la touche _ OPEN/CLOSE.

Pour aJouter des plages au programme

Dans le mode arr_t, effectuer i'_tape 2.La plagesera programm_e

lasuitede la derni_re ptage.

Pourchanger les plages programm_es

Eflacerleprogrammepuiseffectuerdenouveautoutesles6tapes.

• Durante la reproducci6n programada, eltiempo remanente no se

visualizar_ aun cuando se presione el bot6n DISPLAY,

• No puede efectuarse la reproduccibn aleatoria durante la

reproducci6n programada.

• Si el tiempo programado es m_s de 99:59 minutos, o cuando la

31a. canci6n o posterior est& programada, el tiempo de

reproducci6n total muestra --:-- en el visualizador.

• Pendant la lecture programm_e, le temps restant n'est pas

affich_ quand on appuie sur la touche DISPLAY.

• Lalectureal_atoire estimpossible pendant la lectureprogramm_e.

• Si le temps programm_ est sup_rieur _ 99:59 minutes, ou si 31

plages ou plus sont programm_es, I'affichage montre --:-- & la

place du temps de lecture total.
