1 PRELIMINARIES
Please read very carefully the following instructions. This high-precision speaker is
extremely revealing and can provide the best sound only if it is used properly.
The Metis Wireless subwoofer is never used as a stand-alone speaker. Its most usual
configuration is associated to one or more pairs of Metis Wireless speakers in a 2-channel
or multi-channel speaker system.
2 UNPACKING
ATTENTION
If you need to return the subwoofer to the factory or to your local representative for a
warranty repair, please note that it must be repacked in the original packing. This
packaging has been designed specifically to protect the Metis Wireless subwoofer speaker
in transit. Use of alternative packaging may result in damage, invalidating the warranty.
After unpacking, and despite its weight, the Metis Wireless subwoofer may still be moved
easily for acoustic setup. Just be careful to not damage the speaker grills which should be
attached only when the speaker is set in its final position.

3 SUBWOOFER LOCATION & COOLING
For optimal sonic result, it is essential that vibrations arising within the Metis Wireless
subwoofer are evacuated to ground effectively. Solid coupling with a very rigid floor is an
essential component in this process.
4 SPEAKERS PHYSICAL ALIGNMENT
To arrive to the listener simultaneously, the waves front created by each speaker section in
a system should be aligned to be at an equal distance from the listener position. This is
more critical in stereo use than in multi-channel where the levels and delay of each
speaker are adjusted separately. The optimal departure position is when the front panel of
each speaker is aligned to be at the same distance from the listening optimal point

5 CONNECTIONS
Wiring:
Usable in any type of configuration, the Metis Wireless subwoofer has a built-in amplifier
with built-in input crossover. The input is an unbalanced digital input (S/PDIF).
When used with a digital input signal, connect the digital cable to the digital input
connector. Since a digital Spdif cable carries 2 channels you may link the digital output to
the next speaker to transfer the second channel.
Wireless:
To achieve optimal performance, please observe the following points:
• The Metis Wireless subwoofer and the USB dongle or Wireless Transmitter should
be placed in the same room.
• There should be no metallic obstacles between the USB dongle or Wireless
Transmitter and the Metis Wireless subwoofer, which could influence the wireless
link.
• The computer with the USB dongle should not be moved around during playback.
Wireless audio link range:
The range of the wireless audio link depends on several factors, such as the amount of
WiFi equipment used in proximity of the Metis Wireless subwoofer system, as well as the
building materials and the architecture of the room.
Depending on the above mentioned factors, the maximum range will normally be from 5 to
20 meters.
To use the Metis Wireless subwoofer in wireless, follow these steps:
• Connect the subwoofer to a mains outlet using the power cords contained in the
box.

• Connect the USB dongle to an USB port on your computer or the Wireless
Transmitter to the Subwoofer output channel of your acoustic processor.
• If you use the USB dongle: in your computer’s audio settings, select the USB
dongle as the audio output. If you use the Wireless Transmitter: contact your
Goldmund representative who will be able to load and change the configuration file
into your acoustic processor.
The system is now set up and ready to be used. The volume is set directly on the computer
(when used with the Dongle) or on the acoustic processor (when used with a Transmitter).
The Metis Wireless subwoofer and the associated USB Goldmund dongle are delivered
prepaired from the factory. This means that your speakers can only function with the
dongle that was paired with it. However, if you would like to do a re-pairing of the speaker
with the dongle for any reason, please follow these steps:
- Connect the USB dongle to your computer or the Wireless Transmitter to your
acoustic processor.
- Insert a small screwdriver into the pairing hole located on the back panel of your
speaker, just above the input RCA.
- Gently press the internal pairing button using the screwdriver.
- As soon as the pairing is done, the led locking led will light up.
- The pairing is done.
In case you lose your dongle, you can order another one from your distributor who will also
pair it to your speakers.
The digital signal is treated with the Proteus technology. The Metis Wireless subwoofer has
no active filtering (hardware crossover).
The Metis Wireless subwoofer uses a full digital filtering, the crossover is made by software
inside the DSP speaker board.
Only an official Goldmund representative is able to load and change the configuration file,
do not change it by yourself.
ATTENTION:
Due to the high gain of the Metis
Wireless subwoofer, please make sure
that the media player is set to a low
output level, before connecting the
dongle to the computer.

A wrong setting can damage the speakers; the warranty will not cover any factory change
without the approval of an official Goldmund representative
The Metis Wireless subwoofer is automatically powered ON when it receives modulation.
When the digital input does not receive any data for 3 seconds, the drivers are muted.
They are de-muted as soon as a signal is present on the digital input and the orange led
will light up.
Main power must not be removed while the Metis Wireless subwoofer is not muted (please
wait 3 seconds after the music stops before removing the mains power).
The Metis Wireless subwoofer setting is different if the subwoofers are used in stand-
alone, stereo or multi-channel system:
Standard Stereo system:
• If you use only one Metis Wireless subwoofer in your existing system, please put the
switch on the back panel in the central position. This position is the addition of the right and
left channel data.
• If you use two Metis Wireless subwoofers to complement in low frequencies a pair of
speakers, connect the right channel to the right subwoofer, put the switch on the R
position; connect the left channel to the left subwoofer and put the switch on the L position.
Multi-channel system:
• In a system with more than two subwoofers, please refer to your official Goldmund
representative, who will be able to configure a specific configuration for your customized
system.
Try to align the distance of the subwoofers to be identical to the distance of the main
speakers from the listening point.
NOTE:
In case you would like to add one or
two Metis Wireless subwoofers in
addition to an existing wireless stereo
system, Goldmund reminds you that
all speakers (maximum 4 in wireless)
must be re-paired with the Dongle or
the Goldmund Transmitter. Contact
your Goldmund dealer for more details
of the system configuration.

6 RUNNING-IN FOR THE SUBWOOFER
The Metis Wireless subwoofer, like any other top quality speaker needs several days
playing music before offering the top sonic quality it is built to provide.
The few first hours can be very frustrating for a demanding listener.
Do not hesitate to let it play quite loud some time before attempting any real system tuning
or position adjustment.
7 CLEANING THE SPEAKER
To clean the metal case of the subwoofer, you can use a clean, soft, damp cloth. Dampen
with water or a mild detergent solution. Avoid abrasive or harsh cleansers (e.g. products
containing sodium carbonate).
