Quick Start Guide for the
Polycom SoundStation IP 6000
Conference Phone For OfficeSuite®
Welcome to OfficeSuite®. These easy-to-use instructions will guide you through the
installation of the Polycom SoundStation IP 6000 Conference Phone(s) for your OfficeSuite
system.

Ensure you have the correct parts.
o Polycom SoundStation IP 6000 Conference Phone
o Ethernet Cable
o Power Interface Cable
o Power Adapter
Note: Items c and d (in section 2) are only needed if you are not connecting
to a Power over Ethernet (PoE) switch.
o Optional Accessories
External Microphones (sold in a pair)
You will need a spare port on your switch.
Ensure you have an extension created for this device. You would go to “users and
locations” within the OfficeSuite® portal in order to perform this task.
Ensure you have the public IP address for the location where this device will be installed.
No special tools are required to install this device.

Making the physical Connection to

Polycom SoundStation IP 6000 Phone
To install the Polycom SoundStation IP 6000 Phone plug one end
of the network cable into the network port on the bottom of the
Polycom SoundStation IP 6000 Phone:
1. I f P o E plug the other end of the network cable into your data
port with PoE
2. If using an AC Power
Source
a. Connect the Ethernet Cable into the Network Port on the unit
b. Connect the other end of the Network Cable to the Power
Interface Cable
c. Connect the Power Interface Cable to a LAN port
d. Connect the Power Adapter to the Power Insertion Cable
e. Connect the other end of the Power Adapter into a wall
outlet
3. If you have opted for the external microphones the pair each plug
into the Polycom SoundStation IP 6000 Phone into the

Pre-installation
1. Ensure an OS ext. # is assigned to this device and you know the PIN/password
2. Ensure a DID was assigned to this device
3. Select “Cannot be dialed” when setting Access from Auto-Attendant preference
4. If you purchased OfficeSuite FlexConnect, FlexConnect Small Office, OfficeSuite NW DIA
continue to the next section.
5. If you purchased OfficeSuite On-net or MPLS skip to that section.
If you connect to OfficeSuite via the Public Internet
To manually configure the Polycom with a static IP address and subnet mask, follow these steps:
1. Plug Polycom into LAN (PoE or Power brick where needed)
2. Plug Laptop into same LAN as Polycom
3. Obtain:
4. Single Static IP Address for this device
5. Subnet Mask
6. Default Gateway
7. In order to do so complete the following:

8. On PC Open up cmd prompt (XP - start, run, cmd; Windows 7 – start, type in cmd Windows 8
– go to task menu, right click, select show all items, chose command prompt tile, MAC –
Google for customer OSxx in order to obtain address information)
9. Type ipconfig – press enter
10. It will give you the range of addresses (based on subnet mask), subnet mask and default
gateway.
11. Once you have done this if you have an assigned pool of available static IP addresses use one
of these
12. If not (more likely scenario) pick an address at the back end of the range.
13. Ping this address.
14. If you can reach it – it is in use and you’ll need to pick another.
15. If it times out you should be good to go.
16. On OfficeSuite Polycom SoundStation IP 6000 Conference Phone go to
17. Setup (hit immediately when powering up)
18. Enter password (456)
19. Hit Ok / Select
20. DHCP client
21. Disabled / Select / Select
22. Enter OfficeSuite SoundStation IP 6000 Conference Phone IP address (use * for . dot) (see
item 1 above) / Select / Select
23. Enter Subnet Mask (see item 1 above) / Select / Select
24. Enter IP Gateway (Default Gateway) (see item 1 above) / OK
25. Enter Exit
26. Save and Reboot / Select
27. Phone will now reboot
If you connect to OfficeSuite via a Private IP MPLS Connection
1. Plug Laptop into same LAN as OfficeSuite Polycom SoundStation IP 6000 Conference Phone
2. Have the static IP address of the site you are at handy (this will be BVN provided)
3. On OfficeSuite Polycom SoundStation IP 6000 Conference Phone select “Setup” when
powering on the phone.
Enter password (456)
Hit Ok
DHCP client
Enabled
Enter default gateway (static IP)
Enter Exit
Select / Save and Reboot
Once the phone reboots, select “Menu”

Now Configure the IP Phone as a user
Open a web browser window from a computer connected to the same local area network as
the OfficeSuite Polycom SoundStation IP 6000 Conference Phone.
Type in the IP Address from the OfficeSuite Polycom SoundStation IP 6000 Conference
Phone (if static it is the one you assigned earlier and if DHCP it is the one you retrieved from
the step above)
Hit enter
When prompted, enter user name “Polycom”
Enter Password “456”
Once the Polycom UI opens select “Line”
o Identification
Display Name – Same as named on OfficeSuite URL
Address – type in OfficeSuite ext.
Auth User ID – type in OfficeSuite ext.
Auth password – type in OfficeSuite password for that ext.
o Server 1
Address (type in address to MBG – Sil dependent)
Port – type in 5060
Transport – UDP only
Scroll to bottom hit submit
Wait for phone to reboot
Select SIP
o Server 1
Address (type in address to MBG – Sil dependent)
Port – type in 5060
Transport – UDP only
o Local Settings
Digitmap – type in x.T|x.#
Digit Timeout – type in 3
Scroll to bottom hit submit
Wait for phone to reboot
Select General
o Select Audio Processing
Codec Preferences
Select G.711Mu as 1
Select G.729AB as 2
Select the remaining Codecs as Not Used
Scroll to bottom hit submit
Wait for phone to reboot
Select General – again
o Select Time

Going back into the web configurator post installation:
If you need to go back into the web configurator after the initial installation you will need the IP
address of the Polycom device. We recommend that you record this address. If you haven’t taken
that step it is easily retrieved as follows:
1. On the Polycom Device
2. Select Menu
3. Select Status
4. Select Network
5. Select TCP/IP
6. The IP address will be listed in the LCD display of the Polycom device
7. Open up a web browser
8. Type this address into the web browser
9. It will prompt you for a user name and password
a. User name: Polycom
b. Password: 456
10. You may know begin using the configurator
