Multiplex Beverage Equipment Installation Instructions for
Beermaster Empty Beer Detector
P.N. 00215709
Introduction
The Empty Beer Detector may be installed directly to a Tav-
ern Head or to a Wall Bracket. Be aware that mounting to a
Tavern Head may subject the Empty Beer Detector to damage
from careless handling; therefore, mounting to a Wall Bracket
is recommended and the following steps are for that installa-
tion.
Caution: To Avoid Serious Injury
Important: Read the following warnings before beginning an
installation. Failure to do so may result in possible death or
serious injury.
DO Adhere to all National and Local Plumbing and Elec-
trical Safety Codes.
DO Turn “off” incoming electrical service switches
when servicing, installing, or repairing equipment.
DO Check that all flare fittings on the carbonation
tank(s) are tight. This check should be performed
with a wrench to ensure a quality seal.
DO Inspect pressure on Regulators before starting up
equipment.
DO Protect eyes when working around refrigerants.
DO Use caution when handling metal surface edges of
all equipment.
DO Handle CO2 cylinders and gauges with care. Secure
cylinders properly against abrasion.
DO Store CO
2 cylinder(s) in well ventilated areas.
DO NOT Throw or drop a CO
2 cylinder. Secure the cylinder(s)
in an upright position with a chain.
DO NOT Connect the CO
2 cylinder(s) directly to the product
container. Doing so will result in an explosion caus-
ing possible death or injury. Best to connect the
CO
2 cylinder(s) to a regulator(s).
DO NOT Store CO
2 cylinders in temperature above 125°F
(51.7°C) near furnaces, radiator or sources of heat.
DO NOT Release CO
2 gas from old cylinder.
DO NOT Touch Refrigeration lines inside units, some may
exceed temperatures of 200°F (93.3°C).
Notice: Water pipe connections and fixtures directly connected
to a potable water supply shall be sized, installed and
maintained in accordance with Federal, State, and Local codes.

Equipment Installation Instructions
Installing the empty beer detector
1. The Empty Beer Detector is supplied assembled, but it
does require that the Top Chamber Housing be screwed
into the Port Plate
Note: Slowly hand tightened to avoid pinching the Chamber
O-ring.
2. Disconnect the Tavern Head and relieve the pressure in
the line by opening the appropriate faucet.
3. Disconnect the line to the dispenser from the outlet side
of the Wall Bracket and unbolt the Wall Bracket from the
wall (refer to figure 1).
4. Install the Empty Beer Detector onto the Wall Bracket as
shown in figure 2.
Note: Install two (2) washers in the inlet fitting to allow proper
positioning of the Empty Beer Detector.
5. Re-mount the Wall Bracket on the wall.
Note: It may be necessary to relocate the Wall Bracket to
enable the line to the dispenser to reach the Empty Beer De-
tector outlet connection, which will be to the side.
6. Attach the line to the dispenser to the outlet of the Empty
Beer Detector.
7. Reconnect the Tavern Head to the keg.
8. Hold a cup under the vent port and slowly depress the
Vent Button to fill the Empty Beer Detector with beer. It
is normal to have small bubbles showing around the top
of the chamber, just above the float.
9. Turn the Float Release Knob counter-clockwise and pull
up to unlock and release the float. The float will rise to
the top of the chamber.
Figure 1
10. Once the float rises, push the Float Release Knob back
down and twist clockwise to re-lock it. The Empty Beer
Detector is now operational.
11. When the keg empties, beer flow will stop instantly at
the tap with no foam or splash. Simply repeat steps 7
through 10 to tap a new keg.
Cleaning the empty beer detector
Note: To avoid dispensing difficulties, the Empty Beer Detec-
tor must be cleaned in the same way you would clean beer
lines.
The Empty Beer Detector has been designed so that it may
remain in place during the cleaning and flushing operation. All
Empty Beer Detectors can be connected in series and flushed,
as you do your lines.
While using this cleaning method, be sure the Float Release
Knob is in the unlocked and UP position to prevent the float
from seating during flushing.
If preferred or required, the Empty Beer Detector can be
easily removed and cleaned separately by hand.
Unscrewing the Top Chamber will allow access to the inter-
nal parts.
After cleaning, follow previous instructions to reinstall.
