This chapterexplains the installation ofU nifixer65,w arning term s thatoperators need to
know ,caution item s and w arning labels on the m ain unit.
1.1 Compliance withthe following regulations

W hen in stallin g an d operatin g the U n ifixer 65,be sure to follow the direction s
an d w arn in gs in this guide.
The CE m arking is a m andatory European m arking forcertain
productgroups to indicate conform ity w ith the essential health and
safety requirem ents setoutin European Directives.
By affixing the CE m arking,the m anufacturer,his authorized
representative,orthe person placing the producton the m arketor
putting itinto service ensures thatthe item m eets all the essential
requirem ents ofall applicable EU directives and thatthe applicable
conform ity assessm entprocedures have been applied.
Yourproductis designed and m anufactured w ith high-quality
m aterials and com ponents,w hich can be recycled and reused.
W hen this crossed-outw heeled bin subm enu is attached to a
product,itm eans the productis covered by the European Directive
2002/96/EC -W EEE regulation.

1.2 M anaging fumesand vapours
W hen the unitis used fortransferring from paperto fabric,no fum es orvapours need to be
taken care of.
During the fixation process ofdirectly printed fabrics how ever,depending on the inktype
and fabric used,hotfum es & vapours m ay be released.
In order to protecthum an health,these fum es and vapours need to be m anaged.To do
this,an airpurification system (APS)needs to be connected.
Be aw are thatthe released fum es an d vapours w ill be hot.W hen coolin g dow n they
w ill con den sate.
W hen using a Mutoh APS this condensate w ill be m anaged.Regarding the use and
m aintenance ofthe properMutoh APS,please consultthe Mutoh APS userm anual.
W hen using a non-Mutoh APS,you w ill need to m ake sure that these liquids do not
dam age yourAPS.
Because ofdifferences in the local regulations and required w orking conditions,itis w ise
to consulta local consultancy agency to determ ine the involved regulations.

categorized into the follow ing three types,depending on the degree ofrisk(orthe scale of
accident).

To prevent fire or electrical shock,never use a pow er supply source other than the one
rated forthe productin the country w here you purchased the product.
U se only the provided pow er cable. To prevent fire or electrical shock, follow the
instructions below w hen handling the pow ercable:
Do notcutorm odify the cable.
Do notputheavy objects on the cable.
Do notbend,tw ist,knotorpull the cable.
Do notw ire the cable nearequipm entthatgenerates heat.
Do notuse the cable w ith any otherelectrical device
Do nothandle the cable w ith w ethands
Be aw are ofall caution and w arning labels to avoid potentially hazardous situations.
To preventfire or electrical shock,m achines m ustbe connected to a properly grounded
electrical pow eroutlet.Do notconnectthe pow ercable to a pow erstripora pow ersource
shared by otherelectrical devices.
Make sure thatno foreign substances such as dustetc.are stuckto the pow erplug.
Make sure thatthe pow erplug is firm ly inserted to the edge ofthe pow ersocket.
Do notplug to a m ulti-socketplug
Do notleave the electric lead in contactw ith a w arm surface.
Do notuse extension cord w ith a sm all diam etersection notcorresponding to the pow erof
the m achine
To unplug the m achine,disconnectthe plug w ithoutpulling on the supply lead.
Do notdisable any safety precautions system s.
Do notoperate the unitunless all parts are m ounted.
Do not place the m achine in the follow ing areas.Doing so m ay result in the m achine
tipping orfalling overand causing injury.

Do notplace the m achine in hum id and dusty areas,close to w aterorin areas exposed to
flam m ables.Doing so m ay resultin electrical shockorfire.
Do not insert or drop m etal or inflam m able objects into openings,such as ventilation
outlets.Doing so m ay resultin electrical shockand fire.
Do nottouch the m edia guide during operation.
Stop using your m achine if a liquid has been spilled into it. This m ay cause electrical
shock or fire. Sw itch the m achine offas soon as possible,unplug the pow er cord,and
contactyourlocal Mutoh dealer.
Do notuse the m achine ifthe supply lead is dam aged.
Be sure to pow er OFF the m achine and unplug the pow er cable from the outlet before
cleaning the m achine.U se a dam p cloth to clean the m achine.Do not use thinner,
benzene,alcohol orotheractive agents.
Do not tilt the m achine,place it against a w all or turn it upside dow n.Movem ent after
transportis also notcovered by the w arranty.
W hen cutting roll m edia,be careful.Incorrecthandling can resultin injury to the hands and
fingers from the razorblade.
To preventbackpains and otherinjuries,alw ays w orkw ith atleast2 people to unpackor
m ove the m achine.Keepthe m achine horizontally during transportation.
w hen using the screw jackw hile unloading the m achine,ensure the screw jack is laying
w ell flaton the palletfloorand preventitfrom slipping and sliding
Do NOT transportthe m achine to another room w ithoutcontacting your local Authorized
Mutoh Dealer.
Atleast2persons are required forinstalling the feeding tray
To install the heating elem ent,it is necessary to open both sides of the m achine.This
should be done by a skilled and approved technician.
W hile installing the heaterelem ent,ensure the m achine is notplugged in to the pow er
The m achine should be installed in a w ell-ventilated place.
The dye sublim ation heat transfer calender w orks w ith high tem perature. It is
recom m ended notto leave the w orkshoptill ithas com e dow n to the am bienttem perature
In order to preserve the equipm ent,use only m aterial thatare suitable for heattransfer.
Adjustthe w orking tem perature according to the m edia you are using.
Do notfeed m aterial thatw ould notstand excess am ountofheatw ith a riskofburning or
m elting w hen exposed to too m uch heat-i.e.Adhesive tape.

1.4.1 Safetymechanisms
The U nifixer65 has got2safety m echanism s thatw ould im m ediately stopthe rotation ofthe
heating drum .
Plexiglas safety cover:The safety cover m ust be low ered (= in the w orking position)in
orderto startthe m otor.This safety m echanism has to be kepton the m achine in orderto
protectthe user from crushing hands and to preventundesired objectfrom getting taken
into the m achine and therefore possible m echanical hazards.
2 em ergency stop buttons:easily reachable,one on the frontrighthand side and one on
the rearrighthand side.The use ofone ofthese em ergency stopbuttons w ould sw itch off
instantly the rotation ofthe heating drum .
Safetyresetbutton
Each tim e one ofthese safety m echanism s is used,correctthe defect,press on the safety
resetbutton (Rep.8)to resetthe system and run the m achine norm ally.
Despite the operation safety m echanism s on the m achine,highestcaution and
care have to be m ade w hen using orm aintaining the m achine:
Do notputfingers orotherbody partbetw een the heating drum and the feltbelt.Crushing
and scald hazards.
Tie up long hairs,do notw eartie orw ide clothes in orderto avoid getting trapped inside
the driving m echanism .Risks ofstrangling,scalds and tearing ofhairs.
Do notw ear jew ellery w hen using the m achine.Such object,iffed into the m achine m ay
cause dam ages to the m echanic ofthe m achine.
Alw ays unplug the m achine from the pow er plug w hen m aintaining the m achine.
Electrocution risk.

2.2 Unpacking procedure
Please read this chapterthoroughly to unpackthe U nifixer65 correctly.
ͬ»° ïæ Rem ove the lid on topofthe cardboard case.
ͬ»° îæ Tearoffthe cardboard end and rem ove it.
ͬ»° íæ Screw the 3brake handles provided on the leftofthe m achine.U nlockboth low er
shaftlocking system and unload the shafts from the m achine.

ͬ»° ìæ A w ooden ram pis provided foreasy unloading ofthe m achine.Take itoutofthe
crate,going through the tw o low ertension bars.Position the ram pedge to edge
w ith the pallet.
ͬ»° ëæ The m achine is fixed to the palletw ith 2m etal brackets.These brackets are
screw ed to the pallet.U nscrew the 4nuts w ith a 17m m key and an 8 m m hexagon
key.Rem ove each locking screw s.

ͬ»° êæ To rem ove the brackets,turn them horizontally to the topofthe m achine and slide
them tow ard the centre ofthe m achine.Take them outofthe m achine from the front.
ͬ»° éæ The m achine is resting on 4w ooden blocks (2on each end).To unload the
m achine,these blocks have to be rem oved,using the screw jackprovided.
Position the screw jackin the m iddle ofthe castors,on the side w here you have
installed the ram p.Liftupthe m achine so thatyou have enough space to rem ove
the 2w ooden blocks on this side by sliding them out.Liftthe m achine dow n from
this side and repeatatthe otherside ofthe m achine.

3.1 Introduction
Itis very im portantthatthe installation environm entfulfils follow ing conditions to obtain good
quality:
Install the U nifixer65 on a flatfloor,nextto an easily accessible plug.
Do nottouch the socketw ith dam phands.
The m achine should be installed in a w ell-ventilated place.
3.1.1 Installation environmentrequirements
Choose a place forinstallation follow ing the requirem ents in the table below .

3.2 Securing the U nifixer65 in itsend location
The m achine is delivered w ith 4stabilising feetto be installed on the m achine,once the
m achine is on the floor.To install these feet,m ake sure the lockable castors are locked first.
ͬ»° ïæ Liftupthe m achine w ith the screw jackon one end,and screw the stabilising feetin.
Do the sam e on the otherend.
ͬ»° îæ The stabilising feetenable you to adjustthe level ofthe m achine.To do so,adjust
the heightofeach footw ith a flat17m m nutkey.
Each foothas gota counterlocking nutto screw backafteradjustm entin order
to lockthe position.

It is highly recom m en ded to use these stabilisin g feet to ease the stren gth on
the castors,especially w hen loadin g heavy m aterial reels.
