Introduction
Thank you for purchasing the Vivitar DVR 906 LifeCam Wearable Camcorder. Everything you
need to take high definition digital videos and photos is included with your camcorder.
This unique, ultraportable camera design is adapted specifically for this camera and can be used
to capture special moments in many different environments.
Vivitar makes capturing those special moments as easy as possible.
Please read this manual carefully first in order to get the most out of your digital camcorder.
NOTE:
Your digital action camcorder supports a Class 4 or higher Micro SD card with a capacity
expansion up to 32GB.
In order to use your digital LifeCam camcorder normally, please insert the Micro SD
Memory card before use. Please format the Micro SD Memory Card before first use.
Micro SD Memory cards are not included and need to be purchased separately.
This camcorder is a plug and play device. You can download the pictures and videos
without the software by directly accessing the camera’s memory card from your computer.
We would however recommend that you install the Vivitar Experience Image Manager
software to enjoy the full Vivitar experience.

Initial Camcorder Setup
CHARGING THE BATTERY
To charge the lithium battery:
1. Power off the camcorder.
2. Connect the included USB cable to the camcorder and connect the other end of the cable
to a power source such as a computer.
Please refer to the images shown below for reference.
CHARGING USING THE COMPUTER:
3. During the time the camcorder is charging, the LED status indicator light (blue) is on.
When the battery is fully charged the LED status indicator light automatically turns off. The
battery generally fully charges within 2-4 hours.
NOTE:
While the device is charging it cannot be used to capture images.
When the camcorder is on, connecting it to a computer will not charge the device. Make sure
the camcorder is powered off when recharging.

Battery Indicator:
Battery Indicator
Description
The battery level is full.
The battery level is half.
When this icon flashes, this indicates that the battery level is
low and the camcorder will then automatically turn off. Please
recharge your camcorder.
NOTE: When the battery capacity drops to a low level, the battery icon will flash on the display,
indicating that the camcorder requires to be recharged. Please charge the battery. When the
battery icon flickers, the camcorder will shut down automatically.
INSTALLING THE MICRO SD MEMORY CARD
Make sure a High Speed Class or higher Micro SD Memory card 4 (up to 32GB) has been
properly inserted into your camcorder.
A Micro SD Card must be inserted before use. Micro SD Memory card not included.
Installing the Memory Card:
To properly insert the Micro SD Card, please follow the instructions below:
1. Power off the camcorder.
2. Insert the Micro SD Card into the Micro SD Card
slot in the direction as shown in the image.
3. Gently press the Micro SD Card until you hear a
slight clicking sound. This indicates the memory
card has been inserted correctly.
4. The display screen will show an SD card icon ,
indicating that the SD card has been successfully installed.
5. To remove the card, gently press on the edge of the card to release it and pull the card out.

IMPORTANT:
Please power the camcorder off before plugging in or taking out the memory card.
If the card is inserted or removed while the camcorder's power is on, it may damage the
card and/or any recorded data. Always confirm that the power is off before inserting the
card into the camcorder.
Make sure there is room on the Micro SD Memory Card for additional images. If the Micro
SD Memory Card is full, additional images will not be added to the memory card.
The camcorder will beep three times when the memory card is full and 00:00 will appear
on the LCD indicating there is no time available and no space remaining on the SD card for
further recording.
POWERING ON OFF
To power on the camcorder:
1. Press and hold the Power button for about 3 seconds.
2. The LCD displays “ON” and a beep can be heard from the camcorder’s buzzer.
To power off the camcorder:
1. Press and hold the Power button for about 3 seconds.
2. The LCD displays “OFF” and a beep can be heard from the camcorder’s buzzer.
Energy Save:
In order to save the camcorder’s battery power, the camcorder automatically powers off after
sitting idle for 3 minutes.

SETTING THE CAMERA DATE AND TIME
To set the camera’s date and time you will need to connect your camera to a Windows computer
and download a file to your computer that sets the camera’s date and time as per your
computers settings. To set the camera’s date and time please follow the steps below:
1. DOWNLOAD THE DSC CLOCK PROGRAM:
- On a Windows computer, open an Internet browser.
- Copy the link below and paste into in your browser or click on the link below to
automatically download the DSC_Clock.zip file.

- After the DSC_Clock.zip file has been downloaded, extract/unzip the DSC_Clock.exe
file.
2. LAUNCH THE DSC CLOCK PROGRAM:
- Double click the DSC_Clock.exe file to launch the program.
- An ‘Open File’ Window appears. Click on ‘Run to launch the DSC Clock program.
- The DSC Clock window appears, displaying the current date and time on your computer.
3. SYCHRONIZE YOUR CAMERA TO THE COMPUTERS DATE/TIME:
- Connect your camera with the USB cable (included) to your Windows computer.
- Power on your camera. PCU appears on the cameras screen.
- The cameras current time appears in the DSC Clock window.

4. Click Clock Sync on the DSC Clock window to synchronize the cameras time with your
computers time.
The PC Clock and DSC Clock then display the same date and time setting. This
indicates that the synchronization has successfully updated your cameras date and time.
Note: If you use this tooling on Win7 or Win 8, a reminder appears “User Account Control”.
Please click Yes to setup.
USING THE CAMCORDER

Main Camcorder Modes
Press the MODE button to toggle between the Time Lapse, Video and Photo Capture Modes.
Video Capture Mode
Use this mode to capture videos with your digital camcorder.
To record a video, please check that the camcorder is in Video Mode. If the video icon
is not displayed on the LCD screen, press the Mode button repeatedly until it appears. To
start recording, press the Shutter button. Press the Shutter button again to stop recording.
Photo Capture Mode
Use this mode to capture pictures with your camcorder.
To take a photo, please check that the camcorder is in Photo Mode. If the photo icon is
not displayed on the LCD screen, press the Mode button repeatedly until it appears. Press
the Shutter button to capture your photo.
Time Lapse Mode
Use this mode to capture time lapse video.
To take a time lapse video, please check that the camcorder is in Time Lapse Mode. If the
Time Lapse icon is not displayed on the LCD screen, then press the Mode button
repeatedly until it appears. Press the Shutter button to start recording. Press the Shutter
button again to stop recording.
NOTE: Your captured videos and photos are automatically saved to your camcorders
memory card. You can view them by by connecting the camcorder to your computer via the
supplied USB cable.

Powering On Your Camcorder
TURNING POWER ON AND OFF
1. Press and hold the POWER button for about 3 seconds to turn on the camcorder.
The LCD screen briefly displays ‘ON’ and opens the default Video Capture Mode. A beep
can also be heard from the buzzer.
2. Press and hold the POWER button again for about 3 seconds to turn the power off.
The LCD screen briefly displays ‘OFF’ and then powers off. A beep can also be heard from
the buzzer as the camcorder is being powered off.
NOTE:
Energy Save: In order to save the camcorders battery power, the camcorder automatically
powers off after sitting idle for 3 minutes.
Low Power Shutdown: In case of very low battery power, the LCD displays an icon
and then the camera automatically shuts off.

LCD Display
After turning on the Camcorder, the LCD displays the following:

CAMERA MODE ICON
Indicates that the camcorder is currently in Photo Capture
Mode.
VIDEO RECORDING ICON
Indicates that the camcorder is currently in Video Capture
Mode.
Flashing icon means the camcorder is recording a video.
TIME LAPSE ICON
Indicates that the camcorder is currently in Time Lapse
Mode.
Flashing icon means the camcorder is recording a video.
MEMORY CARD
When displayed, this icon indicates that a memory card has
been inserted properly and is available.
IMAGE RESOLUTION
Indicates the image resolution.
- HI means High Resolution.
- HILO means moderate resolution. (Photo Capture
Mode only)
- LO means Low Resolution.
TIMER / COUNTER
TIMER: Displays Hours: Minutes.
- Indicates the available length of time remaining in the
memory card for video recording at the selected
resolution.
- During Video recording displays recording time.
COUNTER: Displays amount of photos that can be
captured as per the selected resolution. Displays up to 999.
BATTERY LEVEL
Indicates the current level of the battery.
NOTE: The above icons vary according to the current status of the camcorder.

Changing Camcorder Mode
THREE MAIN MODES
1. Video Capture Mode - Use this mode to capture videos with your camcorder.
2. Time Lapse Mode Use this mode to capture time lapse videos with your camcorder.
3. Photo Capture Mode - Use this mode to capture photos with your camcorder.
SWITCHING MODES
After turning on the camcorder, you can press the MODE (M) button to switch between the
modes.
In Video Capture Mode and Time Lapse Mode, press the Shutter button to start
recording and press it again to stop.
In Photo Capture/Camera Mode, press the Shutter button to take photo.
MODE INDICATOR LIGHTS
Busy Indicator (red):
When the camera is busy such as when recording videos, shooting photos or when using the
Time Lapse Mode, the light indicator flickers red.
NOTE: When pressing the MODE, SET or POWER button, the red LED light above each button
flashes once.
Charging Indicator (blue):
When the camcorder is being charged, the blue light turns on. The light indicator turns off when
the camcorder has been fully charged.

Video Capture Mode
The Video Capture Mode is the default mode when turning on the camcorder.
The Video Capture Mode allows you to capture videos with your digital camcorder.
TAKING A VIDEO
1. Power On:
Press and hold the POWER button for about 3 seconds to power on the camcorder.
2. Enter Video Capture Mode:
When you first power on the camcorder, the Video Capture Mode will be active.
The Video Capture icon appears on the LCD screen.
3. Change Resolution:
To select the resolution, press the SET button to switch between HI and LO resolution.
- HI indicates 720P 1080x720P@15fps
- LO indicates VGA 648x480@30fps
4. Capture Your Video:
Press the Shutter button to start the video capture.
Press the Shutter button again to stop the video capture.
During the recording of your video the video icon on the LCD display blinks, the LED
light indicator by the Shutter button flashes red and the elapsed time appears on the
LCD.
ATTENTION: Due to limited characters displayed on the screen, video recording
time can be displayed in minimum unit minute.
For example: 0:02 indicates 2 minutes. During recording, 0:01 indicates video recorded
for 1 minute.

After recording the video, the amount of available time left to capture additional videos
as per your memory card size and selected resolution size appears on the LCD screen.
If the memory card is full or the battery is low, the camcorder will automatically stop
recording. The video is a period of three minutes by default.
The video is automatically saved to the camcorder’s Micro SD Memory card.
Time Lapse Mode
The Time Lapse Mode allows you to capture time lapse videos with your digital camcorder.
TAKING A TIME LAPSE VIDEO
1. Power On:
Press and hold the Power button to power for about 3 seconds on the camcorder.
2. Enter Time Lapse Mode:
When you first power on the camcorder, the Video Capture Mode will be active.
Press the MODE button once to enter the Time Lapse Mode.
The Time Lapse icon appears on the LCD.
3. Change Resolution:
To select the resolution, press the SET button to switch between HI and LO resolution.
- HI indicates 720P 1080x720P@15fps
- LO indicates VGA 648x480@30fps
4. Capture Your Time Lapse Video:
Press the Shutter button to begin recording and again to stop recording.
The video is automatically saved to the camcorder’s Micro SD Memory card.

Photo Capture Mode
The Photo Capture Mode allows you to capture photos with your digital camcorder.
TAKING A PHOTO
1. Power On:
Press and hold the Power button to power for about 3 seconds on the camcorder.
2. Enter Photo Capture Mode:
When you first power on the camcorder, the Video Capture Mode will be active.
In order to open the Photo Capture Mode, press the MODE button twice. The Photo
Capture icon appears on the LCD.
3. Change Resolution:
To select the resolution, press the SET button to switch between HI, HILO and LO
resolution.
- HI indicates 5M (2592x1944)
- HILO indicates 3M (2048x1536)
- LO indicates 1M (1280x1024)
4. Capture Your Photo:
Press the Shutter button to capture your photo.
The photo is automatically saved to the camcorder’s Micro SD Memory card.

Playback Mode
Your captured videos and photos can be played back using your computer.
PLAYBACK MODE: COMPUTER
1. Connect your camcorder to your computer using the supplied USB cable.
Connect the smaller end of the USB cable to the USB interface of your camcorder and the
other end to the USB port of your computer.
2. Power on your camera.
The camcorder enters U-disk mode and the LCD displays as below after connection:
3. Now you can view the photos or videos taken by the camcorder on the computer.
Double click on a file to view the selected photo or play the selected video.
WINDOWS OS: The ‘AutoPlay’ window automatically opens. Select ‘Open folder to view
files’. Alternatively, in the window of “Computer (or My Computer)”, there will be a portable
disc added named ‘Removable Disk’. Click to open. Your captured videos and photos are
stored on your memory card in the folder named ‘DCIM’. You may click to open this folder
to copy files from the camcorder’s memory card onto the hard disk of your computer or
view directly from the memory card.
MACINTOSH OS: The camera’s device icon appears on the desktop as an external drive.
Click on this device icon and open the ‘DCIM’ folder.
NOTE:
Do not disconnect the USB cable during file transfer. This may cause data loss.

DELETING CAPTURED IMAGES
Files can be deleted while your camcorder is connected to your computer.
DELETING IMAGE FILES WHILE CONNECTED TO THE COMPUTER:
After connecting your camera to the computer with the USB cable and powering on your camera,
the camera enters portable disc mode. ‘PCU’ displays on the LCD screen.
1. Access the memory card’s ‘DCIM’ folder with your image files. See instructions in previous
section.
2. Select the file(s) that you would like to delete.
3. Drag them to the Trash Can icon on your computer desktop or press the Delete key to
delete the files.
Caution: Please use the Delete feature with care. Once images are deleted they are
permanently deleted from the Micro SD Memory card. Please make sure that you only use this
feature once you have downloaded and saved all the images you wish to your computer.
