1. LICENSE. Youhavethenonexclusiveandnon
transferablerighttouseonlytheone(1)copyoftheProgramprovidedin
thispackagesubjecttothetermsandconditionsofthisAgreement.
2. RESTRICTIONS. ExceptasotherwiseauthorizedinwritingbyEnterasys,Youmaynot,normayYoupermitanythird
partyto:
(a) Reverseengineer,decompile,disassembleormodifythe
Program,inwholeorinpart,includingforreasonsoferror
correctionorinteroperability,excepttotheextentexpresslypermittedbyapplicablelawandtotheextenttheparties

shallnotbepermittedbythatapplicablelaw,suchrightsareexpresslyexcluded.Informationnecessarytoachieve
interoperabilityorcorrecterrorsisavailablefromEnterasysuponrequestanduponpaymentofEnterasys’applicable
fee.
(b) IncorporatethePrograminwholeorinpart,inanyotherproductorcreatederivativeworksbased
ontheProgram,in
wholeorinpart.
(c) Publish,disclose,copyreproduceortransmittheProgram,inwholeorinpart.
(d) Assign,sell,license,sublicense,rent,lease,encumberbywayofsecurityinterest,pledgeorotherwisetransferthe
Program,inwholeorinpart.
(e) Removeanycopyright,trademark,proprietaryrights,disclaimeror
warningnoticeincludedonorembeddedinany
partoftheProgram.
3. APPLICABLELAW. ThisAgreementshallbeinterpretedandgovernedunderthelawsandinthestateandfederalcourts
oftheCommonwealthofMassachusettswithoutregardtoitsconflictsoflawsprovisions.Youacceptthepersonaljurisdiction
andvenue
oftheCommonwealthofMassachusettscourts.Noneofthe1980UnitedNationsConventionontheLimitationPeriod
intheInternationalSaleofGoods,andtheUniformComputerInformationTransactionsActshallapplytothisAgreement.
4. EXPORTRESTRICTIONS. YouunderstandthatEnterasysanditsAffiliatesaresubjecttoregulationbyagenciesof
the
U.S.Government,includingtheU.S.DepartmentofCommerce,whichprohibitexportordiversionofcertaintechnicalproducts
tocertaincountries,unlessalicensetoexporttheproductisobtainedfromtheU.S.Governmentoranexceptionfromobtaining
suchlicensemayberelieduponbytheexportingparty.
Ifthe
ProgramisexportedfromtheUnitedStatespursuanttotheLicenseExceptionCIVundertheU.S.Export
AdministrationRegulations,YouagreethatYouareacivilenduseroftheProgramandagreethatYouwillusetheProgramfor
civilendusesonlyandnotformilitarypurposes.
Ifthe
ProgramisexportedfromtheUnitedStatespursuanttotheLicenseExceptionTSRundertheU.S.Export
AdministrationRegulations,inadditiontotherestrictionontransfersetforthinSection1or2ofthisAgreement,Youagreenot
to(i)reexportorreleasetheProgram,thesourcecodeforthe
ProgramortechnologytoanationalofacountryinCountry
GroupsD:1orE:2(Albania,Armenia,Azerbaijan,Belarus,Cambodia,Cuba,Georgia,Iraq,Kazakhstan,Laos,Libya,Macau,
Moldova,Mongolia,NorthKorea,thePeople’ sRepublicofChina,Russia,Tajikistan,Turkmenistan,Ukraine,Uzbekistan,
Vietnam,orsuchothercountriesasmaybedesignated
bytheUnitedStatesGovernment),(ii)exporttoCountryGroupsD:1or

8. AUDITRIGHTS. YouherebyacknowledgethattheintellectualpropertyrightsassociatedwiththeProgramareofcritical
valuetoEnterasys,and,accordingly,Youherebyagreetomaintaincompletebooks,recordsandaccountsshowing(i)license
feesdueandpaid,and(ii)theuse,copyinganddeploymentoftheProgram.Youalso
granttoEnterasysanditsauthorized
representatives,uponreasonablenotice,therighttoauditandexamineduringYournormalbusinesshours,Yourbooks,records,
accountsandhardwaredevicesuponwhichtheProgrammaybedeployedtoverifycompliancewiththisAgreement,including
theverificationofthelicensefeesdueand
paidEnterasysandtheuse,copyinganddeploymentoftheProgram.Enterasys’right
ofexaminationshallbeexercisedreasonably,ingoodfaithandinamannercalculatedtonotunreasonablyinterferewithYour
business.IntheeventsuchauditdiscoversnoncompliancewiththisAgreement,includingcopiesoftheProgrammade,
used
ordeployedinbreachofthisAgreement,YoushallpromptlypaytoEnterasystheappropriatelicensefees.Enterasysreserves

9. OWNERSHIP. Thisisalicenseagreementandnotanagreementforsale.YouacknowledgeandagreethattheProgram
constitutestradesecretsand/orcopyrightedmaterialofEnterasysand/orits
suppliers.Youagreetoimplementreasonable
securitymeasurestoprotectsuchtradesecretsandcopyrightedmaterial.Allright,titleandinterestinandtotheProgramshall
remainwithEnterasysand/oritssuppliers.AllrightsnotspecificallygrantedtoYoushallbereservedtoEnterasys.
10. ENFORCEMENT. Youacknowledgeandagreethat
anybreachofSections2,4,or9ofthisAgreementbyYoumaycause
Enterasysirreparabledamageforwhichrecoveryofmoneydamageswouldbeinadequate,andthatEnterasysmaybeentitled
toseektimelyinjunctiverelieftoprotectEnterasys’rightsunderthisAgreementinadditiontoanyandall
remediesavailableat
law.
11. ASSIGNMENT. Youmaynotassign,transferorsublicensethisAgreementoranyofYourrightsorobligationsunderthis
Agreement,exceptthatYoumayassignthisAgreementtoanypersonorentitywhichacquiressubstantiallyallofYourstock
assets.EnterasysmayassignthisAgreementinits
solediscretion.ThisAgreementshallbebindinguponandinuretothebenefit
oftheparties,theirlegalrepresentatives,permittedtransferees,successorsandassignsaspermittedbythisAgreement.Any
attemptedassignment,transferorsublicenseinviolationofthetermsofthisAgreementshallbevoidandabreachof
this
Agreement.
12. WAIVER. AwaiverbyEnterasysofabreachofanyofthetermsandconditionsofthisAgreementmustbeinwritingand
willnotbeconstruedasawaiverofanysubsequentbreachofsuchtermorcondition.Enterasys’failuretoenforceatermupon
Yourbreachof
suchtermshallnotbeconstruedasawaiverofYourbreachorpreventenforcementonanyotheroccasion.
13. SEVERABILITY. IntheeventanyprovisionofthisAgreementisfoundtobeinvalid,illegalorunenforceable,thevalidity,
legalityandenforceabilityofanyoftheremainingprovisionsshallnotinany
waybeaffectedorimpairedthereby,andthat
provisionshallbereformed,construedandenforcedtothemaximumextentpermissible.Anysuchinvalidity,illegality,or
unenforceabilityinanyjurisdictionshallnotinvalidateorrenderillegalorunenforceablesuchprovisioninanyother
jurisdiction.
14. TERMINATION. EnterasysmayterminatethisAgreementimmediatelyupon
Yourbreachofanyofthetermsand
conditionsofthisAgreement.Uponanysuchtermination,YoushallimmediatelyceasealluseoftheProgramandshallreturn
toEnterasystheProgramandallcopiesoftheProgram.

Who Should Use This Guide
Thisguideisintendedforanetworkadministratorresponsiblefor installingandsettingupthe
DFEmodule.
Note: In this guide, the following terms are used:
DFE refers to Distributed Forwarding Engine series of modules.
DFE module or module refers to the 2G4082-25.
Network expansion module or NEM refers to an optional uplink card installed on the main logic
board and accessible through the option slot of the 2G4082-25.
Mini-GBIC (Mini-Gigabit Interface Card) refers to a smaller optional interface card that plugs into
an optional network expansion module.
Important Notice
Depending on the firmware version used in the DFE module, some features described in this document may
not be supported. Refer to the Release Notes shipped with the DFE module to determine which features are
supported.

The2G408225modulehas24,10BASET/100BA SETX/100 0BASETcompliantportsbymeansof
24fixedfrontpanelRJ45connectorsandaslotforanoptionalnetworkexpansionmodule(NEM).
Eachofthefixedfrontpanelportscanoperateineitherhalfduplexorfullduplexmodeof
operation.The
duplexmodecanbedeterminedbyeitherautonegotiationormanual
configuration.
TheDFEmoduleportscanbeconfiguredtocontroltrafficbylimitingtherateoftrafficaccepted
intothemoduleandprioritizingtraffictoexpeditetheflowofhigherpriority trafficthroughthe
module.
TheDFEmodulereceives
powerandbackplaneconnectivitywhenitisinsertedintoachassis.
Note: The DFE-Platinum 2G4082-25 module can be installed in the single-slot of the Matrix N1
chassis, or in any slot of the Matrix E7, Matrix N7, Matrix N5, or Matrix N3, but does not have FTM
connectivity.
When installed in the Matrix E7, Matrix N7, Matrix N5, or Matrix N3, the 2G4082-25 will boot as a
standalone device with no connectivity to other modules in the chassis.
