2.3. Power Supply
This board operates from single DC 5.0 V power supply from CNA and CNB
connectors. The external power supply should be sufficient and stabilized.
And also USB bus power can be used by setting JP1. Current supply might be
shortage depending on your FPGA design.
SHORT: 1-3 and 2-4 (factory setting)
- Powered from user I/O connector only
SHORT: 1-2 and 3-4
- Powered by USB bus power and user I/O connector
2.4. I/O Power Supply
3.3V generated on the board is supplied to I/O power of CNA. Please input some
external voltage to VIO(B), I/O power of CNB, depending on your FPGA design.
This can’t be left to be unconnected.

2.5. Clock
A 50 MHz oscillator (U1) is equipped as an on-board clock.
Some user I/O pins can be used for clock input pins.
For more details, please refer to the circuit schematics.
2.6. User Switch
You can use SW2[2] and SW1 for general purpose. They are pulled up,
so you can input low level signal to the FPGA when you push them.
2.7. User LED
You can use L1 and L2 for general purpose. They are active low.
2.8. SDRAM
You can use U1 for general purpose.
For more details, please refer to a data sheet of the device.
2.9. SPI-Flash Memory
An SPI-FLASH memory (U3) is equipped. You can use it for general
purpose.
2.10. Debug I/F
These are pads for serial communication. They are connected directly to
FPGA through a serial resistance.

2.12. USB Controller (FT2232H)
The FT2232H is mounted on this board as a USB controller IC. FT2232H is a dual
channel IC, so 2 channels (A/B) is recognized on a PC.
Channel A is connected to FPGA user I/O pin for user communication. Channel B is
connected to FPGA configuration control pin.
By setting JP2, reset function and EEPROM are available.
JP2[1-2]
SHORT
: use EEPROM for FT2232H (factory setting)
OPEN
: not use EEPROM for FT2232H
- When you make FT2232H to be recognized by PC in its
default setting (default scripter and A/B channel is set to
UART mode), please set this jumper OPEN.
JP2[3-4]
SHORT
: connect FPGA pin to FT2232H reset
OPEN
: not connect (factory setting)
- When you use BBC[EDA-011], please set this jumper
OPEN.

3. FPGA Configuration
3.1. Using Original Tool
By using the original configuration tool
“BBC[EDA-011]”, following function is
available without download cable.
FPGA configuration
Write and Erace configuration device
BBC[EDA-011] is available for free from a support page.
RBF file is supported. You can make the file by the following step.
[Device and Pin Options Programming Files]
When you use the data to write configuration device, apply the following settings.
[Device and Pin Options Configuration]
- Configuration scheme = Active Serial
- Configuration device = EPCQ128A

3.2. Using JTAG Download cable
Download cable is needed to use Intel tool (SignalTap II etc.). Pin assignment is as
follows.
CN1
3.3. Using Configuration Device
Configuration data written in the configuration device will be configured to the
FPGA automatically when power is applied. To use this function, set configuration
mode to Active Serialmode.
Do not download inaccurate configuration data. It would damage the FPGA and
peripheral circuit.
4. Device Driver
To recognize USB controller, installing device driver is needed. The first time
EDA-011 is connected to a PC, installing is required by Operation System.
The device driver and installation instruction are available from a support page.
