Hardware Installation
This section will assist you in quickly installing your system hardware. Wear a wrist ground strap before
handling components. Electrostatic discharge may damage the system’s components.
CPU Processor Installation
This mainboard supports Intel
®
Core
TM
2 Duo Mobile processors using a Socket P. Before building your
system, we suggest you to visit the Intel website and review the processor installation procedures.
http://www.intel.com
CPU Socket P Configuration Steps:
Use a screwdriver to turn the screw counter-clockwise until the dot on the screw points to the
“unlocked” sign. (3 o’clock position)
On the socket, locate the pin-1 receptor. Match the Pin-1 marker on the CPU with the pin-1 receptor of
the socket and then gently lower the CPU onto the socket. Do not use force as it will result in bent pins.
Next, turn the screw clockwise until it points to the “locked” sign (9 o’clock position) — this will lock the
CPU into the socket.

Smear thermal grease on the top of the CPU. Lower the CPU fan onto the CPU/ socket and secure it using
the attachments or screws provided on the fan. Finally, attach the fan power cord to the CPUFAN
header.
FAN Headers: CPUFAN, AUXFAN
There are two fan headers available for cooling fans. These cooling fans play an important role in
maintaining ambient temperatures in your system. The CPUFAN header is attached with a CPU cooling
fan. The AUXFAN header is attached with another cooling fan.

Memory Installation: DDRII 1/2
The PI960GLE provides two DDRII SO-DIMM sockets with Dual Channel Technology supported. This sockets
allow you to install 200-pin, non-ECC & unbuffered DDR II 533 SO-DIMM, supporting to install a total
memory capacity of 2 GB.
Memory Installation Steps:
1. Pull the white plastic tabs at both ends of the slot away from the slot.
2. Match the notch on the RAM module with the corresponding pattern in the DIMM slot. This will ensure
that the module will be inserted with the proper orientation.
Attention
You can avoid damaging your CPU due to high temperatures with proper
cooling equipment. It is recommended that attach a cooling fan on top
of your CPU. Use the CPUFAN header to attach the fan cord.
On most fan power cord, the black wire of the fan cable is the “Ground”
and should be attached to pin-1 of the header.

Back Panel Configuration
PS/2 Mouse & PS/2 Keyboard Ports: KB/MS
This mainboard provides a standard PS/2 mouse port and a PS/2 keyboard port.
DVI Connectors: DVI
DVI connector delivers the digital signals, and is able to connect with LCD display, plasma display, or
other display device which with the DVI interface compatible.
The VGA (D-SUB) Connector: VGA
The mainboard provides one VGA connector (= D-Sub connector) on back panel.
VGA connector (= D-Sub connector) delivers the analogy signals, and is able to connect with traditional
CRT display, flat display, or other display device which with the D-Sub interface compatible.
TV OUT Connector: TV_OUT
The TV_OUT connector is used to connect to high quality video equipment and TVs that support the
YPbPr standard. The three cables used in YPbPr connection provide higher quality than single-wire
composite cable commonly used to hook up video equipment. TV_OUT is converted from the RGB video
signal, which is split into three components, Y, Pb and Pr.
Y carries luminance information.
Pb carries the difference between blue and luminance (B - Y).
Pr carries the difference between red and luminance (R - Y).
S/PDIF OUT Connector: SPDIF OUT
S/PDIF is a recent audio transfer file format, which provides high quality audio using optical fiber and
digital signals. There are one RCA SPDIF OUT connector on the back panel of your case, enabling you to
transmit audio output between your system and the SPDIF devices.
Mainboard PI960GLE
