SYSTEM OVERVIEW
Thissystemprovidesthre e(3)formsofprotection:burglary,fire,andemergency,depending
ontheoptionssetbyyourinstaller.ThesystemconsistsoftheControlPanelwithacolor
touchscreen,wirelesssensorsthatprovideperimeterandinteriorburglaryprotection,and
wirelesssmokeandcarbonmonoxidedetectors.Inaddition,optional
remotecontrolkeyfobs,
wirelesspanicbuttonsandkeypadsmayhavebeenprovidedorinstalled.
Thesystemmonitorsallprotection“zone s”andthesystem’sstatus.TheControlPaneldisplays
monitoringinformationandcontrolsthealarmsiren.Yoursystemmayalsohavebeensetup
tosendalarmandstatusreportstoaCentralStationandhasthecapabilityfor2wayvoice
communicationswiththealarmmonitoringoperator.
FEATURES
Followingisalistofstandardfeaturesandoptionsthatcanbeincludedinyoursystem.Ask
yourinstallerwhichoptionsareavailabletoyouandchecktheboxesthatapply.
Stay andAwayarmingmodes:Sta ymodearmsthesystemperimeteronlyandisused
typicallyatnightwhenthepremisesareoccupied.Awaymodearmsthesystemperimeter
andinterior;it’s usedwhenthepremisesareunoccupied.
•32userunique4digitcodestooperatethesystem:Thesystemsupportsone(1)master
usercodethatcanassignandmaintaintheotherusercodes.
•Oneofthe32usercodesfunctionsasaduresscode.Controllingthesystemwiththiscode
givestheappearanceofnormaloperation,butusingitsendsasilentduressreporttothe
CentralStationtoinitiateasilentalarmcallforhelp.
•VoiceannouncementsfromtheControlPanel:Thesystemhasavocabularyofdescriptive
wordsthatcanbeassignedtosensorssoeachhasauniqueannouncementsuchas“front
dooror“bedroomwindow”ifdesired.
•HomeautomationwiththebuiltinZWavecontrollerforremotecontrollingZWave
enabledhomeappliances(optionalfeature).
•Alarmhistorywithsystemeventlog:Eachalarmandsystemalertisloggedintothe
system’smemory.TheseeventscanbedisplayedandreviewedattheControlPanelor
remotelybytheCentralStation.
•Realtimeclockandcalendarshowsonthesystem’sdisplayandisusedtotimestamp
itemsintheeventlog.
2wayvoicecommunication:Afteranalarm,thesystemcanautomaticallyconnectwitha
CentralStationoperatorsotheycanconversewithpeopleinthepremises.

Threeoptional24houremergencyfunctions:Panic,Fire,andEmergency.The s efunctions

BASIC OPERATION

Sensor Types/Zones
Thesystem’ swirelesssensorshavebeen
assignedtoselected“types”(oftencalled
“zone s”).Thesensortypedetermineshow
andwhenthesystemwillreacttoasignal
fromthesensor.Somesensors arearmed24
hoursaday,othersensorsareonlyarmed
whenthesystemisarmed.
Smoke, Heat, and Freeze
Protection
Ifwirelesssmoke,heatandfreezedetectors
havebeeninstalledinyoursystem,theyare
armed24hoursaday,Theywillsoundan
alarmwhensmokeisdetectedandcan
reportthefirealarmtotheCentralStation.

Burglary Protection
Burglaryprotectionisprovidedbyperimeter
andinteriorsensors.Whenthesystemis
armedintheAwaymode,bothperimeter
andinteriorsensorsarearmedandcan
triggeranalarm.Whenthesystemisarmed
intheStaymode,onlytheperimetersensors
arearmedandcantriggeranalarm.
Both
armingmodesofferanExitDelaythat
allowstimetoexitthepremiseswithout
triggeringthealarm.Uponreentry,anEntry
Delayisenabledthatallowsyoutimeto
disarmthesystem.
Youcansetsensorstosoundachimeand/or
avoiceannouncementwhentheyare
triggered.Soyou
canmonitoryourdoors
andwindowswhilethesystemisdisarmed.

User Codes
Thesysteminstallerhasalready
programmedamasterusercodeforyour
system.Thiscodecanbeusedtocontrolthe
systemaswellasassignandchangethe
otherusercodes.Themasterusercodecan
alsoaccessseveralsystemsetupsettingsin
theUserToolbox.
Alarms
Whenanalarmoccurs,theControlPanel’s
sirenandanexternalsiren(ifinstalled)
soundsforapresettime.Duringalarmsand
afterdisarming,thealarmhistorybutton
displaysallthealarmsthathaveoccurr ed,
andwhichsensorswereinvolved.Thealarm
historyclearsthenexttimethesystemis
armed
orcanbeclearedmanually.
Messages
Yoursecuritysystemsupportsreceiving
messagesfromtheCentralStation.The
messagescanbeaboutsystemupgrades,
additionalservices,specialregionalweather
alerts,etc.
Trouble Alerts
Thesystemmonitorsitselfforabnormal
operatingconditionsandwillalertyouif
troubleisdetected.Troubleconditionscan
bereportedtotheCentralStation.
Wireless Sensors
Yoursecuritysystemcomeswithwireless
sensors.Somesensorsarevisible,others
maybehiddenbydoorjambsorwherethe
sensorismounted.Dependingonyourtype
ofinstallationandhowmanysensorsare

BURGLARY PROTECTION
Whenyoursystemwassetupbyyourinstaller,wirelesssensor s wereplacedtomonitor
specificdoorsandwindows.Theinstallerselectedthesedoorsandwindowsaslikelyplaces
whereanunlawful intrusionmightoccurandcouldbedetected.Eachsensorwas
programmedtohavethesystemreactinaspecificway.

onpage41forspecificsabouteachsensor.
Somesensortypessuchassmokedetectors,carbonmonoxidedetectors,panicbuttons,etc.
arealwaysactiveandcantriggeranalarmatanytime.Othersensorsonprotecteddoorsand
windowsarepartoftheburglaryprotectionpartof thesystem,andcanbeturnedonoroff.
Turningontheburglaryprotectionpartofthesecuritysystemiscalled“Armi ngtheSystem.
Theburglaryprotectionpartofthesystemcanbearmedintwomodes:StaymodeorAway
mode.

Thesecuritysystemconstantlymonitorsallofthesensorsattachedtotheprotecteddoors
andwindowsinyourhomeorbusiness.TheControlPanelknowsifeachdoororwindowwith
sensorsisopenorclosed.Theopenorclosedconditionoftheprotecteddoorsandwindowsis
calledthesensors
tatus.
Formaximumsecurity,allthedoorsandwindowsonyourpremisesshouldbeclosedwhen
youleavethebuilding.Insomecases,suchaswhenusingthesecuritysystemwhenyoustay
athome,youmaywanttoleavesomedoorsorwindowsopen.Thesystemrecognizes
bypassestoresolvetheopendoorsorwindows.See"Bypassing/UnBypassingSensors"on

CHECKING FOR CLOSED SENSORS
Inmostcases,youwillbearmingthesecuritysystemwithallofthesensor protecteddoors
andwindowsclosed.TheControlPanelprovideseasywaystoverifythatallthesensor
protecteddoorsandwindowsareclosedbeforearmingthesystem:
•The
Homebuttonlightsgreenwhenallperimetersensorsareclosed.The Home
buttonisnotli
tifanyperimetersensorisopen.Openinteriorsensorsdonotchangethis
indication.
•TheSecuritybu

DEALING WITH A SENSOR FALSE ALARM
TheControlPanelreportsalarmconditionsonallsensorswhenarmedbothvisually(onthe
statusbar,andthroughasystemalerticon)andaudibly(throughvoiceandchime
announcements).Therearetimes,thoughrare,thatansensorwillsendanalarmconditionto
theControlPanelwhennoalarmexists.Thecond
itionsofafalsealarmvarydependingonthe
typeofsensorandhowthatsensorcommunicateswiththeControlPanel.

SENSOR BYPASSING
Befor ethesystemcanbearmed,all
protecteddoorsandwindowsmustbe
closedorbypassed.Youcanbypassopen
sensorsonprotecteddoorsorwindows
beforearmingthesystem.Whenasensoris
bypassed,thesystemignoresthatthedoor
orwindowisopen.Therearetwotypesof
sensorby
passesavailable:
•Forced
•Manual
Insom
ecases(suchaswhenusingthe
securitysystemforprotectionwhensta ying
athome)itmaybedesirabletoleavesome
sensorprotecteddoorsorwindowsopen.
Temporar i lybypassingasensorforthisuseis

Force Bypass All Sensors
Ifanysensorsareopenwhenthesystemis
disarmed,theArmbuttononthepanelturns
YELLOW.WhenyoutaptheArmbutton,the
systemautomaticallyrevealstheBypass
screenwhichletsyouarmthesystemwhile
forcingittobypassallopensensors.
Toforcebypassallopensensors:
1 Ensureasensorisopen,suchasadoor
orwindow.
2 AttheSecurityorMenuscreen,tapthe
YELLOWArmbutton.
3 AttheBypassscreen,tapBypassAll.
Thisfo
rcesthesystemtobypassallof
theopensensorsinthelist,including
anyopeninteriorsensors.
4 AttheEnterCodescreen,enteravalid
usercodetobypassthesensor.

AWAY MODE
Awaymodeisforarmingthesystemwhen
everyoneisleavingthepremises.Away
modearmsallsensorprotectedperimeter
doorsandwindows,interiormotionsensors,
interiorglassbreaksensors,andanyother
sensorprotectedinteriordoors.The
premisesmustbeunoccupiedwhilethe
systemisarmed.Awaymodeistypically
usedforarmingthesystemduringthe
daytimehoursinaresidentiallocation,and
nonbusinesshoursinacommerciallocation.
WhenthesystemisarmedinAwaymode,
youcannotmoveaboutthepremises
withouttriggeringtheburglaryalarm(ifthe
systemisinstalledwithinteriormotion
detectors).Analarm
alsooccursifany
sensorprotecteddoororwindowisopened
orglassbreakageisdetected(ifglass
breakagedetectorsareinstalledinyour
system).
Exit and Entry Delays in Away
mode
Certainsensors,suchasadoor,canbesetup
byyourinstallertohaveadelaybefore
triggeringanalarm.Thisprovidesawayfor
anauthorizedpersontoexitandreenterthe
premiseswithouttriggeringanalarm.
ExitDelayallowstimetoleaveafter
armingthesystem.
EntryDelayallowstimetoenterand
disarmthesystembeforeanalarmis
triggered.
Whenarmingthesystemin
Awaymode,anEntryDelay
checkboxisshownonthe
Armingscreen.Bydefault,
thisoptionischecked,sothe
programmeddelaydoorsallowtimefor
disarmingthesystemafterthedooris
opened.Ifyouuncheckthisbox,the
delayedalar mtriggeris
removedfromall
sensorprotecteddoorsprogrammedfor
delay.Thoseentrancesinstantlytriggeran
alarmiftheyareopenedinAwaymode.
NOTE: WiththeEntryDelaydisabled,
youmustremotelydisarmthe

beforeentering.
Exit Delay Restart
TheExitDelayRestartoptionextendsthe
ExitDelayonetimeifyouneedtoreenter
thepremises.WiththeExitDelayRestart
option,whenyoureenterthepremises
afteryouhaveleft,butbeforetheExitDelay
timerexpires,willrestarttheExitDelay
timer,givingyouthe
fulllengthoftimeto
leaveagain.
TIP: TheExitDela yRestartoptiononlyworks
once,eachtimethesystemisarmed.
Silent Control in Away Mode
Threeoptionsforsilencingthebeepsand
