consistingofacouponrackthatisinstalledonadrypiperesprinkler
risertomonitorcorrosioninadryresprinklersystem.TheDPCMS-
RMisdesignedtosimulateconditionswithintheresprinklersystem.
Thecouponrackcanbeisolatedfromtheresprinklerriserandeasily
accessed for servicing and monitoring of test specimens (corrosion
coupons) without interruption to re protection. Test material strip
specimens(corrosioncoupons)areinstalledintothecouponrackby
theuseofcouponholders.
TheoptionalPCMPKcontainsacorrosionmonitoringprobeandpressure
switchthatprovidesnoticationtothere/sprinkleradministratorwhen
there may be an excessive amount of corrosion taking place in the
sprinklerpiping.Thecorrosionmonitoringprobehasaprecisionthinwall
thicknesswhichwilleventuallycorrodethroughallowingthesystemair
pressuretoenterintotheprobeandactuatethepressureswitch.When
thepressureswitchiswiredtothebuildingrealarmpanel,atroubleor
supervisorysignalisgeneratednotifyingthere/sprinkleradministrator.
Thisisthenoticationtoremovethetestcouponsthatwereinstalledat
thesametimeastheprobe,foranalysisontheconditionofthesprinkler
piping.Thecorrosionmonitoringprobeisasingleusedeviceandmust
bereplacedupontheinstallationofnewtestcoupons.
The CPRTK2-Coupon/Probe Replacement Test Kit contains the
necessarycomponentstoremove,replace,andforwardforanalysis,the
corrosion monitoring probe and test coupons from a DPCMS-RM.
Note: The probe is not for analysis. It allows the re sprinkler
administrator to leave the coupons in the system until the
probe activates the pressure switch.
Coupon Rack Installation: (See Fig. 1)
1. Installtheendcapswiththerigidgroovedcouplingsandgaskets
providedontotheendsoftheCouponRack.Theproductlabels
shouldbevisibleandinproperorientationontheoutsideedgeof
thecouponrack.
2. AssemblethetriminaccordancewiththedrawingprovidedinFig.
1ofthisdocument.ThetrimcanbeassembledontheDPCMS-RM
componentsatanytimeduringtheinstallationprocess.Besureto
properlypositionallofthecomponents.
3. InstalltheCouponRackAssemblyinahorizontalandlevelposition
witha1”NPTconnectiontothesprinklerriser.Theproductlabels
mustbeeasilyvisibleintheinstalledposition.
Theunitshallbeinstalledonthesystemsideofanycontrolvalve.
Wheninstalledonamainhorizontalfeed,itshallbeinstalledinthe
vicinityoftheriser.
Corrosion Coupon Installation (See Fig. 1, 2, 3, & 4)
1. Takecarenottotouchthecouponsbyusingthelatexglovesprovided.
2. Assembleallcorrosioncouponsontothecouponholdersasshown
in Figure 2.
3. Attachcoupontoholderwiththesuppliednonconductivescrew
andnut.Followtheinstructionsprovidedwithcoupon.
4. Install the Coupon Holder Assemblies-quantity (2) in the
recommended1”NPToutletttingonthecouponrackassembly,
asindicatedinFigure4orthelabelonthecouponrackassembly.
5. Openthecouponrackisolationvalve.Be sure to leave the coupon
rack isolation valve open to the re sprinkler system. Verify
that all valves are in the correct position and the corrosion
monitoring station is free of any leaks.
6. Filloutthecouponcardcompletelyforthecouponanalysis.Forwardthe
couponsandcompletedcardtothecouponsupplieraftertherequired
amountoftimeorwhentheoptionalPCMPK-1probeactivatesthe
pressureswitch.
