Geovision GV-DVR / NVR Feature Guide

This guide provides an overview of key features in V8.6.0.0 GV-System. It also includes information about how the features differ from similar features in earlier versions:

  • Supports New IP Devices: GV-System V8.6.0.0 now supports third-party IP devices from Arecont Vision, including the AV12186DN and AV40185DN models. These devices offer two-way audio communication, H.264 / MJPEG video codecs, and PTZ functionality.
  • Saves Captured Faces as JPEG Format: You can now save images of captured faces as JPEG format in 256 x 256 pixels for Face Detection. This feature can be accessed through the Video Analysis and Object Index/Monitor Setting menus.

1. Supporting New IP Devices
The following third-party IP devices will now be supported in V8.6.0.0
z Audio: A “|” mark indicates the GV-System supports the two-way audio communication
with the device; “X” indicates the function is unavailable in the device.
z Codec: The video codec supported by GV-System are listed.
z PTZ: A “|” mark indicates the GV-System supports the PTZ function of the device; “X”
indicates the function is unavailable in the device.

2. Saving Captured Faces as JPEG Format
With GV-System V8.6.0.0 you can save images of captured faces as JPEG format in 256 x
256 pixels for Face Detection. To access the function, follow the steps below.
1. Click the Configure button, select Video Analysis and select Object Index/Monitor
Setting
2. Enable Face Detection and click the button aside.
3. Select Save as JPEG file and click OK.
The JPEG files are saved at the default path: \\GV folder\Jpg. You can also define the
storage page by using the Set Location function on the Object Index dialog box.

3. Compacting Recorded Videos to GV-Backup Center
You can now compact the recorded video files before backing up to GV-Backup Center in
GV-System V8.6.0.0. To enable the feature, follow the steps below.
1. Click the Network button and select Connect to Backup Center.
2. When connecting to GV-Backup Center for the first time, type its connection information
and click OK. This dialog box appears.

3. Click Advanced Settings, select Enable Compacting Backup Video File and Click OK.

If the recorded video is compressed with H.264 codec, it’ll be compacted into key frames only.
If the recorded video is compressed with MJPEG codec, you can use the Reserved Frames
(MJPEG) option to specify the number of frames.

4. Creating up to 24 Storage Groups
The maximum number of video storage groups is now increased up to 24 groups. To access
this feature, follow the steps below.
1. Click the Configure button, select System Configure and select General Setting.
2. Click the Set Location button and select Storage Group Folder.
3. Click Add Storage Group

5. Supporting Object Counting and Intrusion Alarm to 32 Channels
The maximum number of channels supported for Object Counting and Intrusion Alarm is now
increased to 32 channels. In GV-System V8.6.0.0, click the Configure button, select Video
Analysis, and select Counter/Intrusion Alarm Setting.

6. Displaying GV-System with up to 6 Monitors
GV-System V8.6.0.0 can now be displayed with up to 6 monitors. To enable this feature,
select the displayer mode as Six View by running DMPOS.exe in GV-Folder.

7. Setting the Panel Resolution of Remote ViewLog
In V8.6.0.0, you can now set the panel resolution of Remote ViewLog. Install and run Remote
ViewLog. Click the Setting button and select a desired resolution in the Display tab.
