1.7 Understanding Default Values and Logins
The UBC1303AB00 is pre-configured with the default parameters for your Service
Provider.
Local Port Address: 192.168.100.1

Web Interface: http://192.168.100.1
Operation Mode: NAT Mode
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Wireless Defaults:
Primary SSID (Service Set Identifier): The SSID is the name of the wireless
network broadcast from the device so that wireless clients can connect to it (also
called the wireless network name). The default SSID is “name provided by cable
service provider” plus the last 4 characters of the Cable MAC address for both the
2.4GHz and 5GHz radios.
Example: 2.4G and 5GHz radios with Cable MAC address 90:CD:B6:A2:1D:85,
SSID = CableBox-1D85
If you change the SSID, the device does not revert to this default SSID when
the device is power cycled. It will revert to this default when a factory reset is
performed through the Web UI.
The MAC address and SSIDs can be found on the device label.
Security and Encryption Methods = WPA2-PSK with AES encryption
WPA Pre-shared Key (PSK) = Unique key for each device. Also called the network
key, or the wireless password. The WPA pre-shared key is a randomly generated
character string, 10 characters in length. It can be found on the device label and
on the WLAN Security screen, see Using the Security Option on page 49.
Example WPA PSK: Nt5J52GmUW
WPS PIN = The WPS PIN is a randomly-generated number. Refer to Using the
WPS Option on page 50.
Example WPS PIN: 20212995
Login Default Value
Standard Web User Interface Login
Username: admin
Password: random password, 8 characters in length (case sensitive). The
password can be found on the device label. Example password = nxmtukrq

wireless band. See Understanding Default Values and Logins on page 11 for more
information.
2.4G WPA2 key
Displays the unique WPA pre-shared key for the 2.4GHz band of the device. It is also
called the network key, the wireless key, or the wireless password.
5G SSID
The second SSID displays the SSID (service set identifier), or wireless network name, for
the 5GHz wireless band. See Understanding Default Values and Logins on page 11 for more
information.
5G WPA2 key
Displays the unique WPA pre-shared key for the 5GHz band of the device. It is also called
the network key, the wireless key, or the wireless password.

2 Installing the UBC1303AB00
Use the information in this chapter to set up and connect the UBC1303AB00, connect
additional devices, and troubleshoot the installation.
See the following topics:
Setting Up and Connecting the UBC1303AB00 on page 14
Connecting Devices to the Network on page 16
Troubleshooting the Installation on page 18
2.1 Setting Up and Connecting the UBC1303AB00
Use the following instructions to set up and connect the UBC1303AB00. When the device
is set up and connected, refer to Accessing the Web User Interface Locally on page 18 to
configure the device.
Important: You must contact your service provider to enable Internet access, wireless
networking, and telephony (voice). In particular, voice service requires additional steps
including canceling the previous telephone provider service, porting the telephone
number, and other tasks to minimize downtime during the transition.
To set up the device:
1. Remove the contents from the device packaging.
2. Place the UBC1303AB00 in the best location to connect to other devices, such as PCs
or gaming consoles.
Place the UBC1303AB00 Advanced Wireless Voice Gateway and wireless clients
in open areas far away from transformers, heavy-duty motors, microwave ovens,
refrigerators, fluorescent lights, and other manufacturing equipment. These items
can impact wireless signals. A wireless signal can become weaker after it has
passed through metal, concrete, brick, walls, or floors. For additional information
on wireless signals, see Deploying and Troubleshooting the Wireless Network on
page 85.
Place the device in a location that has an operating temperature of 0˚C to ~ 40˚C.
Refer to Understanding Safety and Regulatory Information on page 1 for more
safety information.
