Thekeyboardhasthefollowingthreestatusindicators:
NumericLockindicator:whentheNumericLockindicatorison,thenumerickeypadonthekeyboard
isenabled.WhentheNumericLockindicatorisoff,thecursorcontrolonthenumerickeypadis
enabled.PresstheNumLockkeytoswitchbackandforthbetweenthesetwomodes.
CapsLockindicator:whentheCapsLockindicatorison,theCapsLockmodeisenabled.Inthis
mode,youcantypeallalphabeticcharacters(A-Z)inuppercasewithoutpressingShift.WhentheCaps
Lockindicatorisoff,theCapsLockmodeisdisabled.PresstheCapsLockkeytoenableordisable
theCapsLockmode.
ScrollLockindicator:whentheScrollLockindicatorison,theScrollLockmodeisenabled.Thearrow
keyscanbeusedasscreen-scrollfunctionkeysandthecursorcannotbemovedwiththearrowkeys.
Notallapplicationprogramssupportthisfunction.WhentheScrollLockindicatorisoff,thearrow
keyscanbeusedforcursorcontrol,notasscreen-scrollfunctionkeys.PresstheScrollLockkeyto
switchbackandforthbetweenthesetwomodes.
5Shortcutkeys
ThekeyboardcomeswithMicrosoftshortcutkeys.OnU.S.Englishkeyboards,theshortcutsarelabeled
onthefrontfaceofthekeysingreen.Onkeyboardsforotherlanguages,theshortcutsarelabeledonthe
frontfaceofthekeysinwhite.
Tousetheshortcutkeys,holdtheCtrlkeyandthenpressashortcutkey.Forexample,onaU.S.English
keyboard,pressCtrl+Pforprintfunction.
Notes:
Theshortcutsareonlyavailableforcertainlanguagelayouts.

devices.High-speeddevices,suchasUSBcameras,mayexhibitslowerperformancewhenconnectedto

Thischapterprovidessometroubleshootinghintsandtipstoassistyouifyouexperienceanyproblemswith
thekeyboard.Checkthefollowingitemsrsttotrytosolvetheproblem.
Problem:WhenIcustomizetherapidaccesskeys,Icannotndmydesiredprogramorle.
Solution:Tosolvetheproblem,dothefollowing:
1.EnsurethatyouselectProgramsavailabletoallusersorProgramsavailabletocurrentuserin
theCustomizeKeyspage.Afteryouselectthisoption,youcanseealistoffoldersandprogramsis
displayed.Youmightneedtoopenoneormorefolderstoviewaprogram.
2.Ifyoustilldonotseethedesiredprogram,selectOpenaleintheCustomizeKeyspage.Whenyou
selectthisoption,alistofallthedrives,thefolders,andthelesonyoursystemisdisplayed.
Problem:TheThinkVantagebuttondoesnotworkcorrectly.
Solution:Ensurethatoneofthefollowingprogramsisinstalledonyourcomputer,ortheWindowssystem
informationwindowwillbedisplayedwhenyoupresstheThinkVantagebutton:

Problem:Themedialaunchkey,volumedownkey,volumeupkey,ormutekeydoesnotwork.
Solution:Themedialaunchkey,volumedownkey,volumeupkey,ormutekeyonthekeyboardworksonly
withcomputersthathaveaudiosoftwareandasoundcardinstalled.
IfyouhaveaudiosoftwarethatdoesnotcomefromMicrosoftorifyouinstalledyourownaudiosoftware,the
audiosoftwareprogrammightnotbecompatiblewiththekeyboard.Closeyouraudiosoftwareandpress
themedialaunchkeyagain.PressingthemedialaunchkeyautomaticallyopenstheWindowsCDPlayer
ortheWindowsDVDsoftware.IfthemedialaunchkeydoesworkwiththeWindowsCDPlayerorDVD
softwarebutnotwithyouraudiosoftware,youraudiosoftwareisnotcompatiblewiththekeyboard.
Ifyoudonothaveasoundcardorifthesoundcardisnotdetected,youwillreceiveanerrormessage
indicatingthatthereisaproblemwiththesoundcard.Formoreinformationonyoursoundcard,seethe
documentationthatcomeswithyourcomputerorsoundcard.
Problem:Therapidaccesskeysdonotwork.
Solution:Ensurethattherapidaccesskeysareenabled.See“Enablingordisablingthehotkeys”on

Solution:Theon-screendisplayfortherapidaccesskeysmightinterferewithsomecomputergames.
Ifyourcomputergamesarenotfunctioningcorrectlywhenyouusetherapidaccesskeys,disablethe
on-screendisplay.Forinstructionstodisabletheon-screendisplay,see“Enablingordisablingthe
on-screendisplay”onpage11.
Problem:Ipressakeyonce,butthecomputerrespondsasifIpressedthekeytwice.
Solution:Youmightneedtochangeyourkeyboardrepeatdelayorrepeatratesettings.

Solution:EnsurethatyouconnectonedevicetoaUSBconnectoronce.Ifadevicedoesnotwork,connect
