II. Installation Windshield Pedestal
(5V, 0.6A)
1. Connect the windshield pedestal to the PDA Cradle by sliding the mounting plate (A) into the mounting grooves (B) on the back of the
cradle. Slide the mounting plate all the way up to secure a proper fit.
2. Take care in selecting a suitable location in your vehicle to install the windshield suction pedestal. Warning: Do not mount this product
where it will obstruct the driver‚s view or interfere with operation of the vehicle or the vehicle‚s safety devices, including air bags. You
assume the risk associated with damage to your vehicle or occupants as the result of your choices in mounting this product.
3. Firmly press the windshield suction cup against the windshield and then push down the locking lever to secure a tight fit.
4. Bend the pedestal to adjust the viewing angle by grasping the shaft with both hands. Do not attempt to bend the pedestal by grasping
the PDA cradle.
The Arkon Swivel Windshield Suction Pedestal allows you to easily mount
your Powered PDA cradle directly to the interior of your vehicle‚s wind-
shield. In this position, it can best interface with the global positioning
satellites required for vehicle navigation.

5. Once the pedestal has been bent into the approximate desired location, you can take advantage of the swivel capability of the pedestal
by gently rotating the cradle using two hands.
REMOVAL OF SUCTION WINDSHIELD
PEDESTAL:
1. Release the locking lever by pulling it to
the up position
2. Pull up on the release lip located on the
edge of the clear plastic suction cup disc.
ADJUSTMENT OF SWIVEL
RIGIDITY
In the event that the swivel
mechanism is too tight or
becomes too loose, you can
adjust the tightness by
removing the
mounting plate from the
swivel end of the pedestal and
using a Philips screwdriver to
adjust the swivel screw.

Note: Prolonged exposure to heat can weaken the strength of the suction lock against the windshield. It is recommended that you remove and reapply the
suction pedestal every two weeks to maintain suction strength.
III. Operation of Power PDA Cradle
Note: In order to use your PDA for satellite navigation, you must have a GPS
receiver and have GPS map software loaded onto your PDA.
After cradle is mounted in the desired position in your vehicle:
1. Plug cradle power cord into the vehicle cigarette lighter socket or
12V power supply.
2. Connect the Charging/Data cord for your PDA -- one end into the
USB PDA slot on the cradle and the other end into the serial port
of your PDA.
3. Connect the audio cord from the 3.5mm speaker jack on the top
of the cradle to the 3.5mm headphone jack on your PDA. If the
headphone jack on our PDA is 2.5mm you will need a special
audio adapter.
4. For satellite navigation: Make sure you have a GPS receiver, such
as Options A, B or C below:
Option A: Connect a mouse-type serial GPS receiver to the RJ12
jack on the top of the cradle (RJ12-to-PS2 adapter
cables are available if needed). This jack will power
your mouse-type receiver and also transfer data
to the PDA.
Option B: Use a Bluetooth GPS Receiver. No cable connection is
necessary. However, for your convenience, Bluetooth
GPS receivers can be charged from the Bluetooth
charging jack on the side of the cradle.
Option C: If your PDA has its own built-in GPS receiver, then no
additional connections are needed.
Turn on your PDA and access your GPS map software program.
5. Important Safety Notice: Most GPS software has built-in voice
navigation to allow you to keep your eyes on the road while
driving. If you need to study the map on your PDA, stop the car
and pull into the side of the road first.
IV. Trouble Shooting
1. PDA is not being charged.
- Make sure cradle power cord is connected to 12V lighter
socket. The Red LED indicator on the bottom of the cradle
should be illuminated.
- Make sure the serial cable from cradle to PDA is properly
connected.
2. Data is not being received from the GPS receiver.
- Check the GPS settings on your map software. Should be set
to ComPort 1.
- Make sure the serial cable from cradle to PDA is properly
connected.
- If using the RJ12 jack, make sure the cable is connected
properly.
3. Speaker not working or sound too low or too high.
- Make sure audio cord is connected properly.
- Adjust volume control on side of cradle.
- Adjust volume setting on your PDA.
