WithoutSIP-specicportforwarding,usersofclientswithinthesameprivatenetworkwouldbeabletotalktoeachother
(peer-to-peercommunication)butusersofclientsindifferentnetworkswouldnot.

SessionTraversalUtilitiesforNAT(STUN)isaclient-servernetworkprotocolthatenablestheproducttoaskaSTUNserveronthe
InternetforamappedpublicIPaddress.TheSTUNserverresponseincludesthisIPaddressandportsothattheclientcanusethem
initsSIPmessagestootherhostsandclients.
LikeTURN,STUNcanbeusedinfull-cone,address-restrictedcone,andport-restrictedconeNATsetups.STUNisfastbecauseit
islightweight.However,STUNdoesnotallowincomingmessagesfromsymmetricNATs,anditcannotcommunicatewithapeer
behindthesameNATdevice.

TraversalUsingRelaysaroundNAT(TURN)isaclient-servernetworkprotocolthatenablestheproducttoaskaTURNserverfora
mappedIPaddress.TheTURNserverrespondswithitsIPaddressandportsothattheclientcanusetheminitsSIPmessages.
