Operation
When using the Fire Pit, be sure to place it on a flat, secure surface outdoors, at
least 5 feet away from any adjacent or overhanging flammable materials. Be
aware of overhanging shrubbery or buildings, because significant heat will rise
from the Fire Pit when in use. Provide yourself with a fire extinguisher as an
emergency measure in case the fire gets too strong.
NOTE: Before using the Fire Pit for the first time, be sure to wash the Chrome
Cooking Grill (7) thoroughly with antibacterial soap to be sure it is clean enough
to use in preparing food. Also, wash or wipe down all other parts of the Fire Pit to
be sure they are clean and safe for food preparation.
1. Lift up the Chrome Cooking Grill (7). Set aside. Lift up the Fire Grate (6), and
place flammable lighting briquettes in the bottom of the Copper Bowl (1) and
form a mound. Replace the Fire Grate (6).
2. If you are not using pretreated briquettes, spray onto the briquettes an
appropriate amount of recommended lighting fluid. Do not use gasoline or
other non-recommended flammable materials. Please follow
manufacturer’s directions on the lighting fluid package.
3. Be sure that there are no children, animals or bystanders near the Fire Pit.
When it is safe to do so, TOSS a lighted match onto the briquettes.
WARNING! DO NOT lean over the briquettes when lighting; a flame is
likely to quickly shoot up from the coals, potentially causing injury.
4. Wait for lighting fluid to completely burn off. Cooking with lighting fluid
creates a health hazard. Note: it will usually take 15-20 minutes for the coals
to completely heat up after the initial flames caused by the lighting fluid have
died down. You will see the briquettes begin to turn grey, indicating that they
are ready. Once the briquettes are ready, spread them out evenly with a heat
proof tool (not included) and set the Cooking Grill (7) in place.
5. Carefully place the food on the Grill (7). Avoid dropping food items through
the Grill, or touching the Charcoal or other hot areas on top of the Grill. You
should wear protective cooking mitts, and use appropriate utensils to place
and handle food. Watch out for dripping grease which may cause the
briquettes to flame up, causing a fire hazard.
6. Keep the food well-balanced on the Grill to avoid burning the food.
7. After removing your food and completing the cooking process, allow the
coals to burn down.
