intheapplicationandimprovedcontrolsandprotection.ThePLCChillerusestemperaturedifferentialandhysteresistomanage
thecapacityofthechillerinsingleormultistageapplication.
Thechillersystemwillcomeprogrammedfromthefactorywiththeoptionsenabledforthatsystem.Althoughthesystemoffers
flexibility,theseoptionscanonlybeenabledbyafactoryrepresen tative.
TheuserwillbeabletoselectbetweenCool,HeatorElectricHeatmodeoperationinsinglestageconfigurationorIna
multistage
configuration.
ThePLCcontrollerisinte rnallygroundedwithisolationbetweeninputsandoutputs.Additionally,theoutputrelaysofferdouble
isolationsothatdifferentvoltagescanbeusedforgroupsofrelays.
Thesystemwillutilizevarioussensortypesformeasuringanalogtemperaturesandpressures.Fortemperaturemeasurements,the
systemwilluseNTCtype10K@77°thermistors.Pressuretransducersareratiometric0650PSI(45bar)rangeforbothsuctionand
dischargemonitoring.

tobegreaterorequalto125°F(51.7°C),allenabledcompressorrelayswillbedeenergized,turningoffthecompressor(s)ifoperating
inreversecyclemode.If
electricheatisbeingused,allenabledheaterrelayswillbedeenergized,turningofftheheatingelement(s).
Asthetemperaturefalls,thecompressororelectricheatrelaywillreenergizewhenthetemperaturereaches110°F(43.3°C).
Ahightemperaturefaultwillberecordedanddisplayedifthesystemexceeds
thealarmsetpoint.Inahightemperaturesituation,PLC
willnotallowthecompressororelectricheatrelaytobeenergized.Thefaultmustbemanuallyacknowledgedontheactivealarm
screenandclea redpriortoreenablingthesystemorstage.

or less than38°F(3.3°C),thenthe compressor relaywill be deenergized,shuttingoff thecompressor. As the temperature rises, the
compressorrelaywillreenergizewhenthetemperaturereaches42°F(5.6°C).
Alowtemperaturefaultwillberecordedanddisplayedifthesystemfallsbelowthealarmsetpoint.Inalowtemperaturesituation,
PLCwillnotallowthecompressororelectricheatrelaytobeenergized.Thefaultmustbemanually
acknowledgedontheactivealarm
screenandcleare dpriortoreenablingthesystemorstage.
Ifatemperaturesensorisbadornotconnected,thePLCwilldisplayanalarmforthatsensor.

Theboardwillenergizethecompressorrelayifreturnwater/supplywatertemperatureis
abovethecoolingsetpointandthestaging
delayhaselapsed.
Thecompressorwillcontinuetorununtilthecoolingsetpointhasbeenreachedoranalarmconditionexists.Astagewillhavea
minimumruntimeof100secondsbef oreitcanbeturnedoffandaminimumofftimeof
120secondsbeforeitcanbereenabled.This
minimumontimeisrequiredtoensurethatthesystemisnotcyclingonandoff andnotallowingthecompressortoproperlywarmup.
Thisensuresproperoillubricationofthesystem.Ifthesystemcallsforastagetobetoggledon/off,thenextavailablestagewillbeused
thatmeetsthestagingcriteria.Loadsheddingwilloccurinmultistageoperationwhenapproachingchilledwatersetpoint.Thereversing
valveistoggledtorelieveheadpressureattheendofacompressorruncycle.

toscrollthroughthevariousparametersbeingdisplayedontheLCDscreen.TheLCDscreenwillalsoindicateonthemainscreenthe
modeofoperationwhetheritisCool,HeatorEHmode.Themainscreenwillalsoindicateifthereisanalarmpresentonthesystemby
flashingthewordalarminthelowerrighthandcornerorLoadsheddingifithasbeenactivated.
