theoperationofit,willbenetfromregularmaintenance.
Thisdocumentisintendedforbothcustomersandinstallers.Itincludespreventivemaintenanceinstructionsandapreventive
maintenancechecklistthatareeasytofollow.Werecommendusingthedevice’sinstallationguideasareference.SeePreparations
onpage3formoreinformation.
Theinstructionsandthechecklistaredividedintotwosubsections:
1.Firmwaremaintenance–tasksthatcanbeperformedremotely.
2.Hardwareandinstallationmaintenance–tasksthataffectthephysicalinstallationandmustbeperformedatthecamera

•GotoSettings>System>Maintenance>ReportsandclickViewtheserverreport.SearchforPTZCounter.
•Ifthecounterisabovethe(x)value

Purpose:Preventenvironmentalfactorsfromaffectingthecamera.Forexample,extremetemperaturescausedbydirectsunlight,
cancauseunexpectedbehaviorinthecamera.
Actions:
•GotoSettings>System>Maintenance>ReportsandclickViewtheserverreport.Checkforfanfailuresandif
thetempcounterishigherthan5.
•Iftherearemanywarningsorthetempcounterishigh,considertakingprecautionsthatreducetheriskofexposingthe
cameratoextremelyhotorcoldtemperatures.

Vibrations
Purpose:KeeptheaccuracyofthePTZmechanism,whichissensitivetovibrations,andachieveidealoperationwhenzooming.
Actions:
•GotoSettings>System>Maintenance>ReportsandclickViewtheserverreport.Searchforpan/tilterrors,
whichcanbeanindicationofvibrationsthatcauseproblemsforthecamera.Exampleofpanerrorfromserverreport:

Contactthecameraowner/operatortoidentifyissuescausedbyvibrations.
•Vibrationscanbereducedbyusinganothermountingoptionorimprovetheexistingone.Apotentialcausecouldbethat
thescrewsareloosebetweenthebracketandthepole/wall.SeeScrewsonpage7formoreinformation.
Presetpositions
Purpose:Maintainthepresetpositions.Presetsaresupposedtostayintheirconguredlocations.However,duetocertainconditions
suchastemperaturevariationsandnormalweartheycouldbecomeoffsetovertime.
Note
Itcouldbedifculttodetectorremembertheoriginallocationofapreviouslyconguredpresetposition.Ifthisisthe
case,talktothecameraoperator.
Actions:
•Ifanyofthepresetsareoffset,gotoSettings>PTZ>Presetpositionsandrecongurethepresettothedesiredlocation
byaddingapresetwiththesamename.
•Ifthepresetaccuracyoffsetishigh,gotoSettings>PTZ>LimitsandturnoffE-ip.
•Iftheoffsetisstillhigherthan0.5°Caftercompletingtheactionsabove,contactaxis.com/support.
PTZtest
Purpose:TestthePTZmechanism.Thebuilt-inPTZtestisdesignedtocalibratethecamerablockandcheckforproblems.
Actions:
•GotoSettings>System>Maintenance>PTZstatusandclickTest.
Ifanyerrorsarereported,gotoSettings>System>Maintenance>ReportsandclickDownloadtheserverreport.

TheminimumrecommendationisSDHCandSDXCcardsofspeedclass10.Forinformationaboutthelatestrecommendations,

•GotoSettings>System>Storage>Recordingsandviewonerecording.Makesureitisintact.

Latestrmware

Firmwareoptions:
Axisoffersproductrmwaremanagementaccordingtoeithertheactivetrackorthelong-termsupport(LTS)tracks.Beingonthe
activetrackmeanscontinuouslygettingaccesstoallthelatestproductfeatures,whiletheLTStracksprovideaxedplatformwith
periodicreleasesfocusedmainlyonbugxesandsecurityupdates.
Usingrmwarefromtheactivetrackisrecommendedifyouwanttoaccessthenewestfeatures,orifyouuseAxisend-to-endsystem
offerings.TheLTStracksarerecommendedifyouusethird-partyintegrations,whicharenotcontinuouslyvalidatedagainstthe
latestactivetrack.WithLTS,theproductscanmaintaincybersecuritywithoutintroducinganysignicantfunctionalchangesor
affectinganyexistingintegrations.
Note
Thesupportinothersystems,suchasVideoManagementSoftwaresystems(VMS),isoftendependentonthecamera
rmwareversion.Makesurethesystemsupportsthecamera’srmware.

Scratchesandcracksinthedomecover
Purpose:MaintainimagequalityandtheIPratingofthecamera.
Actions:
•Inspectthedomecoverforscratchesandcracks.Ifyoundseverescratchesorcracks,replacethedomecovertoensure
imagequalityandtomaintainthecamera’sIPrating(astableenvironmentinsidethecamera).

Inspectthebracket
Purpose:Makesurethatthebracketisoperationalandprovidesthebestpossibleconditions.
Actions:
•Inspectthebracketandremoveinsectsanddirt.
•IfthecameraisinstalledonanAxisbracket,werecommendinstallingAXIST91A6PipeSealinsidethebracket.This
increasesthelevelofprotectionagainstinsects.
Cabling(ethernet)
Purpose:Avoidnetworkandcameraproblems,forexamplepowerdrops,bymakingsurethatthecablingmeetstherequirementsof
yourequipment.
Actions:
•Inspectthecablingtothecameraandmakesurethattheyarenotbentorbrittle.

maintaintheIP66protection,thesuppliedRJ45push-pullconnector(IP66)shallbeused.Alternatively,usetheRJ45IP66-ratedcable
withpremountedconnector(soldseparately).

•MakesurethatRJ45push-pullconnector(IP66)isusedandthatitiscorrectlymounted.
