Thedevicepasswordistheprimaryprotectionforyourdataandservices.Axisdevicesdonotimposeapasswordpolicyasthey

maybeusedinvarioustypesofinstallations.

Toprotectyourdatawestronglyrecommendthatyou:

Levelthecamera

Toadjusttheviewinrelationtoareferenceareaorobject,usethelevelingguideincombinationwithamechanicaladjustment

ofthecamera.

1.GotoSettings>System>Orientationandclick

2.Adjustthecameramechanicallyuntilthepositionofthereferenceareaorobject,isalignedwiththelevelingguide.

Adjustthefocus

Thisproducthasthreefocusmodes:

•Auto:Thecameraautomaticallyadjustsfocusbasedontheentireimage.

•Area:Thecameraautomaticallyadjustsfocusbasedonaselectedareaoftheimage.

•Manual:Thefocusissetmanuallyataxeddistance.

Toturnoffautofocusandadjustthefocusmanually:

1.Intheliveviewwindow,iftheZoomsliderisvisible,clickZoomandselectFocus.

2.ClickMandusetheslidertosetthefocus.

Selectexposuremode

Therearedifferentexposuremodeoptionsinthecamerathatadjustsaperture,shutterspeed,andgaintoimproveimagequalityfor

specicsurveillancescenes.GotoSettings>Image>Exposureandselectbetweenthefollowingexposuremodes:

•Formostusecases,selectAutomaticexposure.

•Forenvironmentswithcertainarticiallighting,forexampleuorescentlighting,selectFlicker-free.

Selectthesamefrequencyasthepowerlinefrequency.

•Forenvironmentswithcertainarticiallightandbrightlight,forexampleoutdoorswithuorescentlightingatnightand

sunduringdaytime,selectFlicker-reduced.

Selectthesamefrequencyasthepowerlinefrequency.

•Tolockthecurrentexposuresettings,selectHoldcurrent.

OptimizeIRillumination

Inmostcases,theexposureoftheimageisautomaticallyadjustedtoobtainoptimalimagequality.Ifthecameraisplacedclosetoa

walloracorner,itcansometimesresultinsaturationofpartsoftheimage.Whenthishappens,theLED’sclosesttothewallor

cornerareautomaticallydimmedtoavoidsaturatingtheimage.

Dependingontheinstallationenvironmentandtheconditionsaroundthecamera,forexampleexternallightsourcesinthescene,

youcansometimesimprovetheIRilluminationifyoumanuallyadjusttheintensityoftheLED’s.

4.Intheliveview,clicktheIlluminationbutton,turnonIRlightandselectManual.

5.Adjusttheintensity.

BenetfromIRlightinlow-lightconditionsusingnightmode

Yourcamerausesvisiblelighttodelivercolorimagesduringtheday.Astheavailablelightdiminishes,youcansetthecamerato

automaticallyshifttonightmode,inwhichthecamerausesbothvisiblelightandnear-infraredlighttodeliverblack-and-white

images.Sincethecamerausesmoreoftheavailablelightitcandeliverbrighter,moredetailed,images.

1.GotoSettings>Image>Dayandnight,andmakesurethattheIRcutlterissettoAuto.

2.Todetermineatwhatlightlevelyouwantthecameratoshifttonightmode,movetheThresholdslidertowardBright

orDark.

3.EnableAllowIRilluminationandSynchronizeIRilluminationtousethecamera’sIRlightwhennightmodeisactivated.

Note

Ifyousettheshifttooccurwhenit’sbrighter,theimageremainssharperastherewillbelesslow-lightnoise.Ifyouset

theshifttooccurwhenit’sdarker,theimagecolorsaremaintainedforlonger,buttherewillbemoreimageblurdue

tolow-lightnoise.

Reducenoiseinlow-lightconditions

Toreducenoiseinlow-lightconditions,youcanadjustoneormoreofthefollowingsettings:

•Settheexposuremodetoautomatic.

Note

Ahighmaxshuttervaluecanresultinmotionblur.

•Toslowdowntheshutterspeed,setmaxshuttertothehighestpossiblevalue.

•Reducesharpnessintheimage.

•Setthemaxgaintoalowervalue.

Reducemotionblurinlow-lightconditions

Toreducemotionblurinlow-lightconditions,youcanadjustoneormoreofthefollowingsettings:

Imagenoisewillincreaseifyouincreasethegain.

•Increaseshutterspeedandgain.GotoSettings>Image>ExposureandsetMaxshuttertoashortertime,andMaxgain

toahighervalue.

Ifyouarestillexperiencingmotionblur,youcantryoneofthefollowing:

•Increasethelightlevelinthescene.

•Mountthecamerasothatobjectsmovetowarditorawayfromitratherthansideways.

Maximizedetailsinanimage

Important

Ifyoumaximizedetailsinanimage,thebitratewillprobablyincreaseandyoumightgetareducedframerate.

Handlesceneswithstrongbacklight

Dynamicrangeisthedifferenceinlightlevelsinanimage.Insomecasesthedifferencebetweenthedarkestandthebrightest

areascanbesignicant.Theresultisoftenanimagewhereeitherthedarkorthebrightareasarevisible.Widedynamicrange

(WDR)makesbothdarkandbrightareasoftheimagevisible.

2.Ifrequired,turnonWDR.

StabilizeashakyimagewithElectronicImageStabilization(EIS)

ElectronicImageStabilization(EIS)canbeusedinenvironmentswheretheproductismountedinanexposedlocationandsubjectto

vibrations,forexample,windorpassingtrafc.TurnonEIStogetasmootherandsteadierimagewithoutblur.

EISalsoreducesthelesizeofthecompressedimageandlowersthebitrateofthevideostream.

Barreldistortioncorrectionaffectstheimageresolutionandeldofview.

2.TurnonBarreldistortioncorrection(BDC).

3.Setthelevelofcorrectionthatgivesyouthebestimage.

Monitorlongandnarrowareas

Usecorridorformattobetterutilizethefulleldofviewinalongandnarrowarea,forexampleastaircase,hallway,road,ortunnel.

1.Dependingonyourdevice,turnthecameraorthe3-axislensinthecamera90°or270°.

Improvefacialrecognition

2.Inthecamera’sliveview,adjustthesizeandplacementoftherectanglearoundtheareaofinterest,forexample,where

thefacesofpassingpersonsareexpectedtoappear.Youcanthenseethenumberofpixelsrepresentedbythesidesof

therectangle.

Youcanuseanobjectofaknownsizeintheviewasareferencetodecidehowmuchresolutionisneededforrecognition.

Improvelicenseplaterecognition

Tobetterrecognizethelicenseplateofacarpassingbythecamera,youcanapplyandadjustanumberofthings.

Oneoptionistousethepixelcounterinyourcameratosettheoptimalpixelresolution:

1.GotoSettings>System>Orientationandclick

2.Adjustthesizeandplacementoftherectangleinthecamera’sliveviewaroundtheareaofinterest,forexample

wherethelicenseplatesofpassingcarsareexpectedtoappear.Youcanthenseethenumberofpixelsrepresentedby

thesidesoftherectangle.

Youcanuseanobjectofaknownsizeintheviewasareferencetodecidehowmuchresolutionisneededforrecognition.

1.GotoSettings>System>I/OPorts.

3.GotoSettings>System>Events.

4.Createanewrule.

5.SelecttheConditionthatmustbemettotriggerthecameratostartrecording.Itcan,forexample,beatimescheduleor

motiondetection.

6.Inthelistofactions,selectRecordvideo.Selectastreamproleorcreateanew.Alsosetdurationasrequired.

7.Savetherule.

8.CreateasecondruleandselectthesameConditionasintherstrule.

9.Inthelistofactions,selectOutputport,andthenselecttheporttheAXISI/OIndicationLEDisconnectedto.Setthe

statetoActiveandsetdurationasrequired.

11.Savetherule.

4.IntheTriggerdrop-downmenu,selectInputsignal.

5.SelectDigitalinputsignal.

6.Select”PIRdetector”,inthisexampleconnectedtoport1.

7.UnderActions,selectOutputportfromtheTypedrop-downmenu.

8.InthePortdrop-downmenu,select“Gateswitch”.

9.ClickOk.

10.Createanotheractionrulewiththename“Directthecameratothegate".

11.Selectthesameinputsignalasbefore,butasactionselectthepreviouslycreated“Gateentrance”presetposition.

12.ClickOk.
