1 Safety Symbols
This symbol indicates a possible risk of danger. Read this manual
carefully and follow all safety advices that are marked by this sign.

This symbol warns to perform any work at the wall
arm HWA while it is connected to the power supply.
Ignoring this safety symbol bears risk for people working at
the wall arm or in the vicinity as well as risks for the real
values surrounding the equipment.
2 General Information
Assembly, adjustment tasks and disassembly according to the assembly instruction
may be performed by qualified personnel only. The assembly has to be executed
according to the assembly instructions. It has to be documented on the enclosed
installation checklist. This checklist (signed by both user and mechanic) and the
guarantee card (both documents are at the end of this Operating Manual) have to be
sent to the manufacturer in original. They are the base for the limited warranty.
Warning: When moved, the wall arm and the suspended infrared spot
IRS or TGS intervene into the surrounding area. Make sure to avoid
unwanted collisions with other objects or persons.
3 Appropriation
The wall arm HWA is intended to carry infrared spots of the series TGS and IRS
manufactured for Enraf-Nonius BV by Heuser Apparatebau GmbH.
It is not intended to carry other or additional loads. This use is contradictory to the
appropriation and not allowed. The maximum load of the wall arm HWA may under
no circumstances be exceeded.

4 Power Supply
The standard power supply for the stand SST is 220-240V / 50/60Hz.
The fuse is 16 A maximum. A residual current protective device has to be installed.
Warning:
To avoid an electric shock the wall arm HWA may only be connected to a
power supply system that is equipped with a protective earth conductor.
For a complete disconnection from the power supply the plug has to be pulled
out of the socket. Unobstructed access to the socket has to be ensured, so
that in case of an emergency the plug may be pulled immediately.
The plug may never be pulled by the cable but only by the grip area. The plug
may never be touched with wet hands.
5 Operational Safety
The operating company is obliged to establish operational safety for the user of the
wall arm HWA. All legal requirements regarding operational safety have to be
obeyed.
According to legal standards an annual safety check of the wall arm HWA has to be
performed and documented.
6 Environmental Conditions

The wall arm HWA has to be stored under the following conditions:

The wall arm HWA may only be used in closed spaces under dry conditions. All kinds
of moisture have to be kept away from the device. The use in explosive surroundings
is not permitted.

7 Accessories
There is no accessory available for the wall arm HWA. Operation with non-approved
accessory will lead to the lost of warranty claim.
8 Before the Use
Before the use of the wall arm HWA the operator has to make sure that it is mounted
properly to the wall. The infrared spot has to be mounted according to the installation
instructions. All safety devices have to be present and correctly installed. The
maximum load may not be exceeded. It is not permitted to deposit or attach any
items on / to the wall arm. This Operating Manual has to be kept close to the wall
arm.
Missing safety devices discharge the manufacturer from every warranty liability!
Warnings:
When moved, the wall arm and the suspended infrared spot IRS or TGS
intervene into the surrounding area. Make sure to avoid unwanted collisions
with other objects or persons.
The wall arm HWA may only be operated in a balanced state (see „Adjustment
of the spring force“ in chapter 18: Assembly Instruction).
Before dismounting the suspended infrared spot from the wall arm HWA or
dismounting the wall arm HWA from the wall, the transport lock has to be
installed under any circumstances (see „Transport Lock“ in chapter 18:
Assembly Instruction). If this is not done, a spontaneous self-motion of the
spring arm may occur because of the preload of the spring. This may cause
serious injuries or damages.
Operation of the wall arm HWA without active use of the brake force is not
permitted (see „Adjustment of the brake force“ in chapter 18: Assembly
Instruction).
The plastic covers may only be removed for assembly and adjustment
purposes. Operation without plastic covers is not permitted.
9 Start-Up
9.1 Positioning
The wall arm HWA has to be positioned in a way that the safety distances given in
the operating manual of the infrared spot may be maintained.
9.2 Start-Up
Warning: Before using the wall arm HWA all legal safety instructions
according to the valid accident prevention regulations have to be
respected!
The power supply cable has to be laid in a way that there are no sharp bends or
clamped areas. Furthermore it has to be laid in a way that causes no risk of tripping

for patient, operator or other persons. During operation, the power supply cable may
not get moist or wet.
Note: At the beginning, noises may occur when the spring arm is moved in a vertical
way. These noises vanish over time. They are not a sign for a malfunction!
10 Daily Operation
Warning: Unsupervised operation of the wall arm HWA and infrared
spot, even with a time switch, is not permitted!
For a well organized daily use of the wall arm HWA we give the following non-binding
recommendations:
The Infrared spots TGS and IRS that are suspended to the wall arm HWA are
medical products with an own operating instruction. For a patients treatment
all requirements of those instructions are obligatory!
At closing time the wall arm HWA has to be lifted to the highest position!
11 Cleaning, Care and Disinfection
For care and maintenance of the wall arm HWA the national rules and guidelines
concerning the operation of devices in health care facilities have to be obeyed.
The wall arm HWA may only be cleaned with a moist, lint-free cloth. Liquid remnants
(cleaning agents, water) have to be removed immediately. Before cleaning, the
power plug has to be pulled out.

12 Regular Tasks
12.1 Regular Safety Checks
An annual safety check for the wall arm HWA has to be performed and documented.
Within the scope of the safety check, the securing segments that prevent the infrared
spot from falling, have to be checked for damages and be replaced if necessary.
12.2 Limit Values for the Annual Safety Check

13 Service
13.1 Maintenance
Within the scope of the annual safety check, the securing segments that prevent the
infrared spot from falling, have to be lubricated.
Apart from regular cleaning, no more maintenance work is necessary.
13.2 Repair
In case of a defect the repairing has to be executed by a qualified person. If the
repairing can’t be done locally, the wall arm HWA has to be sent to Enraf-Nonius BV,

14 Limited Guarantee
The function of the wall arm HWA is guaranteed by Enraf-Nonius BV, if it is verifiably
mounted and operated according to this manual.
The guarantee time is twelve months after the delivery to the dealer.
The guarantee is limited to repair or exchange to a new device; the decision is up to
Enraf-Nonius BV exclusively. Please keep the original packaging for the time of
guarantee. Guarantee will only be granted, if the device is sent back in original
packaging. Damages caused by insufficient wrapping will be charged to the
dispatcher.
Further compensations are not included in this limited guarantee.

17 Assembly Instruction
17.1 Structural Preconditions
The person responsible for the assembly of the wall arm HWA has to make sure, that
the structural condition of the wall satisfies the requirements given in this assembly
instruction. He/she has to confirm this by his/her signature on the enclosed
installation checklist.

17.4 Mounting height
The wall arm HWA has to be mounted in a way that the passage height of 2 m (as
required by law) is respected.

17.5 Mounting of the Wall Arm HWA
Assembly, adjustment tasks and disassembly may be performed by qualified
personnel only. For the mounting of the wall arm HWA an assistant is necessary.

Loosen the 4 fixing screws (cross-head
screwdriver PH1) and remove the cover
of the wall bearing.
Remove the accessory for later use:

conditions of the wall, mount the flange

Re-fix the cover of the wall bearing with
the fixing screws (cross-head
screwdriver PH1).
Before continuing the assembly o
f the
wall arm HWA, make sure that the
power plug is pulled!
Remove the plastic cover of the front end
of the spring arm.
For this purpose move with slight
pressure of the fingers along the joint of
the halves and loosen both parts
carefully.
Loosen the fixing screw of the securing
ring (cross-head screwdriver PH2)
Slide the securing ring down for approx.
1 cm and turn it through 9. The slot for
the insertion of the securing ring
becomes visible.
Insert the coupling of the infrared spot
IRS or TGS up to the stop and secure it
by inserting one of the securing
segments.

Turn the securing ring through 180° and
insert the second securing segment in
the slot provided therefore.
Turn back the securing ring through 9
to its initial position and fix it with the
fixing screws.
Remount the plastic cover at the front
end of the spring arm. For this purpose
join the halves of the cover at one side
and place it around the joint.
Push down the spring arm as far as
possible and remove the transport lock
(see picture detail) at the joint between
extension arm and spring arm.
Attention:
Save the transport lock, because it
has to be re-inserted in any case
before disassembling the wall
arm HWA or before removing the
infrared spot!

In case the infrared spot does not keep
its set position, the spring force may be
adjusted by turning the screw at the joint
between extension arm and spring arm
accordingly (hexagon screwdriver SW 4)

Attention:
When adjusting the spring force, the
spring arm has to be positioned
horizontally or slightly inclined
downwards.
For the mounting of the rotation limiter
loosen the fixing screw of the securing
ring (cross-head screwdriver PH2) at the
joint between extension arm and spring
arm and slide down the ring.
Screw tightly the cylinder head screw M
6 x 15 (hexagon screwdriver SW 5) and
washer, that you removed from under the
wall bearing cover, into the thread that
has become visible. Slide back the
securing ring to its initial position and fix
it with the fixing screw.
Remount the plastic cover at the joint
between extension arm and spring arm.
For this purpose join the halves of the
cover at one side and place it around the
joint.
