STEP 1
SETTING UP YOUR DIGTIAL VIDEO RECORDER (DVR)
This set-up guide assumes you are connecting cameras (not included with this system)
to the Lorex DVR. Consult your DVR’s owners manual for alternative DVR connection
and/or information to install a hard disk drive (HDD).
1Connect the cameras (not supplied) to the CH1, CH2,
CH3, CH4 Video Inputs (BNC Inputs) 2Connect the IR Sensor - To Operate Your DVR Remote
Control
Your DVR is now ready to use. Refer to the owner’s
manual to learn how to record, playback, use the search
features and all other features available with this sys-
tem. Refer to Step 4 for Setting Up Remote Security
Monitoring.

PACKAGE CONTENTS
This DVR unit comes with an IR Sensor on a wire that you
connect from the back of the unit and place in the front
panel of the DVR.
3Connect one end of ethernet cable (not supplied) to the DVR,
the other end to the broadband router (not supplied). Power
router and DVR ON if not already ON.
Connect the Power Supply to the DVR; the other end
to an electrical outlet.

2Unscrew the HDD bracket 3
Carefully follow the steps to ensure correct installation of the DVR HDD. Note: Please set the HDD to “MASTER OR SLAVE MODE(S)”
4Screw the
HDD bracket
back to the
DVR base
Connect the HDD to the power connector and IDE Bus (make
sure to align the HDD precisely for PIN connection).
56Close the upper case of the DVR and fasten all the
screws you loosened in the Section 1.
1Open the upper cover of the DVR
Loosen the two screens respectively on the two sides of the
upper cover. Loosen the four screws on the back side of
the upper cover.

Addresses. Please record these addresses to use in the
registration for DDNS

1. FOR PRODUCT LICENSE select the L224 Series option from the drop
down menu.
2. FOR PRODUCT CODE enter the DVR’s MAC address (recorded in step
3, section 2).
3. FOR URL REQUEST enter a unique URL name (eg. Johndoe). Note: An
URL name should not be more than 15 characters.

6Select SETTINGS from the VIDEO WEB
SERVER application
Port forwarding your router and creation of a DDNS account with Lorex is required in order for you to have Remote Internet Access.
In the SYSTEM SETTINGS Screen select DDNS. Fill
in the blanks with the information you received part
of your Automated Registration Confirmation email
( Step 4, Section 5) and press APPLY
Enter information from your

Confirmation Email
Port Forward your Router FIRST before proceeding with
the Set-up (you must Port Forward Port 80).

3, Section 2 to view THE VIDEO WEB
SERVER page.

9Enter User Name and Password and click
SUBMIT. In order to view the LIVE picture,
you need to install JAVA application program
(free software included in the application CD
for this unit or can be installed by clicking
DOWNLOAD JAVA button). Accepting JAVA
CERTIFICATE is necessary to view the LIVE
Video remotely.
(The Default User Name & Password is admin)
NOTE: You need to download JAVA program as part of this
setup. If the browser does not load the program, click The
Download Java Button and follow the directions.
10 View LIVE Video REMOTELY
Your DVR is now ready for Remote Security Monitoring.
