Before You Start
Please read this guide thoroughly as it describes the basic installation of
the device. Additional configuration needed to deploy the device in a
specific environment can be performed with the help of online help.
This guide also provides an example of a typical 5300LF2 deployment
that can be used as a guideline for your installation.
Requirements for Installation
A computer with a web browser such as Microsoft Internet Explorer or
Mozilla Firefox or any other browser of your choice
1 RJ-45 cable. You can use the included RJ-45 to female cable that is
provided with your device.
Instructions
Step 1 Connecting the Cables
1. Plug one end of the power adapter into an AC outlet and the other end into the AC inlet
on the 5300LF2, shown in the preceding image as "A".
2. Turn the power switch on (shown in the preceding image as "B").
3. Connect one end of an RJ-45 cable into the Console Port of the 5300LF2. This port can
be seen in the "A" of the following image. You can use the included RJ-45 to female DB9
cable. Connect the other end of the cable to your computer’s DB9 port.
Make sure that the power LED, shown in the previous image as "B" is solid green and
the status LED, shown in the previous image as "C", is flashing red intermittently.
Step 2 Configuring the EdgeMarc
You can configure the 5300LF2 using a web browser such as Internet Explorer or
Mozilla Firefox. The 5300LF2 is shipped with the pre-configured IP address
192.168.1.1 for the Console Port.
Requirement: To configure the 5300LF2 using the console port, you must use an
RJ-45 cable.
To connect to the 5300LF2 EdgeMarc with your PC, follow these steps:
1. Assign static IP address 192.168.1.2 with subnet 255.255.255.0 to a PC
2. Connect the PC to the console port of the 5300LF2 using an RJ-45 cable as
described in Step 1 – Connecting the Cables.
3. Launch a web browser on the PC and enter the URL string: 192.168.1.1. Press
Return.
The login window appears
4. Enter “root” in the “User name” field and “default” in the “Password” field.
5. The “System” page should appear next. If you should see the "message of
the day" instead, just click on the System link under “Configuration Menu” to
get to the “System” page.
Step 3 Plan Your Configuration
The EdgeMarc 5300LF2 can be deployed as a Session Border Controller in a network. It can
also be deployed in a network behind an existing firewall. For more information about deploying

Note: When deploying VoIP services, all connected LAN switches or routers must support full
duplex.
