F series SRP™ (Smear Reduction Processing)

‘F’ Series SRP™ (Smear Reduction Processing)

SRP™ (Smear Reduction Processing) is a feature on some Barco F series projectors.

 F35 (including F35 AS3D) - UHP Lamp projectors.

Dependent upon colour wheel variant these projectors feature SRP™. Available settings are either

SRP Half, SRP Full or Off. The non-adjustable Dark Time increase setting is fixed at 8.3333 ms.

Settings can be enabled from the projector ‘On Screen User Menu’ (Picture \ RealColor \

BrilliantColor) or via external control.

Note - SRP™ on the F35 (including F35 AS3D) projector is available for 60Hz video sources only.

 FL3x & FS3x - LED & LED + IR projectors.

These projectors feature SRP™. Available settings are either 6 ms or 8 ms Dark Time. Settings can

be enabled from the projector ‘On Screen User Menu’ (Picture \ RealColor \ BrilliantColor) or via

external control.

Note - SRP™ on the FL3x and FS3x projectors is available for 60Hz video sources only.

 F50 - UHP Lamp projectors.

Dark Time side effects explained.

 Increasing Dark Time has an adverse effect on projector brightness. For example increasing

Dark Time by 8.3333 ms represents exactly half of the 16.6666 ms video frame interval at

60Hz, brightness subsequently reduced by 50% as a result.

It is important to note that although brightness is reduced full colour bit depth is retained.

In order to recover some brightness colour wheel spokes are enabled by default when SRP™

Half and Full settings are applied. This default setting can be over ridden by enabling SRP in the

projector Service Menu (Settings \ Service) if required.

SRP™ Half and Full explained.

 SRP™ Half and SRP™ Full both introduce 8.3333 ms Dark Time. Colour wheel sequencing

differs between the two modes of operation to give a different visual effect. Results are

subjective and therefore the mode selected is entirely at the discretion of the end user.

Respective colour wheel sequences are RGB, blank for SRP™ Half and RGB, RGB blank / blank

for SRP™ Full. For reference SRP™ Full behaviour is comparable to FL3x series 8 ms Dark Time

setting in so much as it introduces some image flicker.

Using SRP™ with the projector in stereoscopic (3D) mode.

 Using SRP™ with the projector in stereoscopic (3D) mode (where applicable) is not supported.
