General conditions for us e
Use only the cables and cords supplied with the projector or or iginal replacem ent cables. U sing other cables or cords m ay lead
to malfunction and permane nt damage to the unit.
Always use a g rounded (3–pronged) power cord to ensure proper grounding of the unit. Never us e 2-pronged power cords, as
this is dangerous and could lead to electrical shock.
Do not attempt to open the projector unit. The projector contains no use r serviceable parts. Refer all repairs to qualied per-
sonnel only. Make sure that n o objects enter into the vents and openings
of the chassis.
Do not s pill any liquids on the projector or into the vents or openings of the unit.
Always remove the lens cap before switching on the projector. I f the lens cap is not removed, it may melt due to the high energy
light emitted through the lens. Melting the lens cap may perm anently damage the surface of the projection lens.
Only p lace the projector on a stable sur face, or mount it s ecurely using an ap proved ceiling-mount.
Always operate the pr ojector acco rding to the rotation guidelines. Operating the unit in other positions may reduce lamp life
signicantly, and may lead to overheating, re sulting in malfunctioning
.
Always allow am ple airow through the pr ojector. Never block any of the air vents. Never cover the unit in a ny way while
running. Allow for sufcient dis tance to walls and c eilings to avoid ov erheating.
Minimum safety (clearance) distance to the sides and rear of the unit is 50cm / 20” in any direction (15 cm/ 6” to ceiling).
Hot air is exhausted from the rear vent. D o not place objects that are sensitive to heat nearer than 50c m / 20” to the exhaust
vent.
The projector is designed for indoor use only. Never operate t
he unit outdoors.
Do not op erate the projector outside its temperature and humidity s pecic ations, as t his may result in overheating and malfunc-
tioning.

2. Safety
To prevent re hazard
Do not place amma ble or combustible materials near the projector!
Barco large s creen projection products are designed and manufactured to m eet the most stringent safety regu lations. T his
projector radiates heat on its external surfaces and from ventilation ducts during normal operation, which is both normal and
safe. Exposing ammable or combustible materials into close p roximity of this projector c ould result in the spontaneous ignition
of that m aterial, resulting in a re. For this reason, it is absolutely ne cessary to leave an “ex clusion zone” around all external
surfaces of the projector whereby no am mable o r combustible m aterials are p resent. The exclusion zon e must be not less
than 40 cm (16”) for all DLP Cinema projectors. The ex clusion zone on the lens side mu st be at least 5 m
. Do not cover the
projector or the lens with any material while the pr ojector is in operation. Keep ammable a nd com bustible materials away from
the projector at all times . Mount the projector in a well ventilated area away from s ources of ignition and out of direct sun light.
Never expose the projector to rain or moisture. In the event of re, use sand, CO
2
or dry powde
r re extinguishers. Nev er use
water on an electrical re. Always have service perform ed on this projector by authorized Barco service personnel. Always
insist on genuine Barco replacement parts. Never use non-Barco replacement parts as they may degrade the safety of this
projector.
Slots and openings in this equipment are provided for ventilation. To ensure reliable operation of the projector an d to protect
it from overheating, these openings must not be blocked or covered. The ope nings should never be blocked by placing the
