Extron recommends that you terminate both cable ends in accordance with the following specications, at a minimum:
TIA/EIA T 568B XTP DTP 22 STP or CAT6A STP 22 AWG, solid conductor with minimum of 500 MHz
NOTE: When using shielded twisted pair cable in bundles or conduits, consider the following:
Do not exceed 40% fill capacity in conduits.
Do not comb the cable for the first 20 meters, where cables are straightened, aligned, and secured in tight bundles.
Loosely place cables and limit the use of tie wraps or hook-and-loop fasteners.
Separate twisted pair cables from AC power cables.
c. Set the DTP/HDBT and Send Power toggle switches:
ATTENTION:
Position these toggle switches BEFORE connecting the appropriate device to the TP connector. Failure to comply
can damage the endpoint.
Positionnez ces sélecteurs AVANT de connecter l’appareil approprié au connecteur TP. Ne pas respecter cette
procédure pourrait endommager le point de connexion.
1. Set the DTP/HDBT toggle switch (F) to the DTP (down) position and the Send Power toggle switch (G) to the
SEND POWER (up) position on the switcher.
2. Set the Send Power toggle switch to the OFF (down) position on the DTP3 receiver.
NOTES:
When the output is configured for DTP mode, remote power is available for Extron DTP3 devices only. When the
output is configured for HDBT mode, remote power is disabled and both the switcher and receiver require their own
12 V DC power supply.
The DTP3 T 203 cannot be powered by a receiver.

Step 4 — Connecting Control Devices
a. To pass through serial control signal, connect an RS-232 device to the switcher via the 3.5 mm, 3-pole captive screw OVER TP
port (see gure1, H on page 1 and the image below for wiring).

b. For remote control of a unit and loading firmware (LAN or USB only), connect a host device, such as a computer or control
system, to one of the following ports:
Remote RS-232 port — Connect a 3-pole captive screw connector to this port (see gure1, I and the image above for
wiring).
LAN Ethernet port — Connect an RJ-45 connector to this port (J).
Signal LED — Lights green to indicate the switcher is properly connected to an Ethernet LAN.
Link LED — Lights yellow to indicate transmission of data packets on the RJ-45 connector.
USB-C configuration port — Connect a USB-C connector to this port (see gure3, D on page 4).
Step 5 — Connecting a Contact Closure Device (optional)
If desired, connect a push-button contact closure device to the 3.5 mm, 4-pole captive screw CONTACT port (see gure1, I) to
enable input switching via contact closure. Momentarily short the pin for the desired input (1, 2, or 3) to G to select that input. To
force an input to be always selected, leave the short in place.
NOTE: Contact closure control overrides front panel input selections.
Step 6 — Connecting an Indicator Device (optional)
If desired, connect a device into the 3.5 mm, 4-pole captive screw TALLY port (I) to remotely
identify the currently selected input. Connect the power wire for the device into the +V pin and
connect the ground wire for each indicator into the corresponding tally output pin: 1, 2, or 3.
When an input is selected, by either contact closure or front panel selection, the corresponding tally
output pin shorts to the ground, closing the circuit and lighting the connected indicator (LED).
NOTE: The CONTACT and TALLY ports can be used with Extron Show me cables. For each
cable, connect the red pigtail to the associated pin of the CONTACT port and the black pigtail
to the associated pin on the TALLY port (see image on the right). The ground or drain wire on
the cable does not need to be wired to the switcher. The wire can be tied back and shielded.
Step 7 — Connecting Power
Connect a standard IEC power cable from a 100 to 240 VAC, 50-60 Hz power source into the power
receptacle (see gure1, A).
