TxLD Keyboard Line Driver Installation Handbook Rev-02 Page 3
INTRODUCTION
The TxLD is a simple to install, cost effective device for remote
installation of a BBV Tx1000 Slave Keyboard when the cable length for
the keyboard serial data exceeds 50 metres. The communications data
for the keyboard is RS232, which will become unreliable at distances
greater than this. The TXLD encorporates 4 differential tranceivers
that convert the RS232 data to RS485 and then back to RS232 at the
opposite end, this enables the data to be transmitted over cable
lengths ten times that of RS232. The TXLD’s are supplied on mounting
plates with single patresses for easy wall mounting.
INSTALLATION
There are two parts to the TXLD, TXLD(B) & TXLD(K). (The B for BASE, the K
for KEYBOARD).
Mount the patresses in relavant positions close to the TX1000 Base
Unit and the Slave Keyboard with cable entries made for the twin
twisted pair cable. Note that one patress has a hole drilled for a
power connector, this needs to be located at the Slave Keyboard.
• Line Length
The TxLD will perform optimally over any length of cable up to 1km
using the recommended cable type “BELDEN 9502”. Cables are easily
connected to the “WAGO” connectors on the PCB. Ensure cable run
is away from sources of interference and high current carrying
cables.
Wago Connectors
The Wago series 233 PCB
terminal block is a simple-
to-use method of attaching
cables to PCB’s quickly and
easily. The correct method
of attachment is
illustrated to the left.
Connection of the twin twisted pair wires to the TXLD PCB’s is made
via the grey Wago connectors located on the reverse side. It is
important to maintain correct polarity and ensure that RX and TX
cross over.
