Warnings
• Use the cleaning tool with the provided foam pads. Use of the cleaning tool without the foam pads may damage the analyzer.
• Failure to use proper cleaning solution may damage the analyzer.
• DO NOT use the cleaning tool for biological contamination. This tool does NOT decontaminate the analyzer.
• If the cleaning tool becomes biologically contaminated, properly dispose of the cleaning tool as biohazardous waste.
• Only use the provided foam pads for a single cleaning. DO NOT reuse as contaminants may be reintroduced into the analyzer.
• Use powder-free lab gloves.
Installing the foam pad
• Using powder-free lab gloves, remove the cobas
®
Liat
®
Cleaning Tool from the bag.
• Remove one cleaning tool foam pad from the bag.
• Insert the foam pad over the open end of the hook on the cobas
®
Liat
®
Cleaning Tool as shown below.
• Pull the foam pad down until it rests flat.
Using the cleaning tool
Use the cleaning tool ONLY when prompted by the analyzer.
• Prior to cleaning, power off the analyzer always by using the Shut down button on the Log on screen:
• On the Main screen, choose the Log offbutton. The Log on screen is displayed.
• On the Log on screen, choose the Shut down button.
• Follow the instructions on the screen.
• Power off the analyzer by holding the power button for several seconds.
• Remove an alcohol swab from the pouch. Fold the alcohol swab over the foam pad and squeeze it until the foam pad is dampen with alcohol.
Discard swab when done. When provided swabs are not available, a similar 70% Isopropyl Alcohol swab may be used.
• Insert the cobas
®

Cleaning Tool until the MAX line is at the metal part of the analyzer, just below the sample door. Rub up and down
between the two lines labeled “OPTICS”.
• Slowly retract the cobas
®

®
Cleaning Tool, rubbing up and down as it is withdrawn from the analyzer.
• If dust particles are visible on the foam pad after cleaning, replace it and repeat until no particles are visible.
• Dispose of used foam pads as biohazardous waste.
• Clean the tool with a 10% bleach solution between uses, and between analyzers.
• If after cleaning the analyzer prompts you again to clean it, contact your Roche Service Representative.
