Einführung

Lynden Pindling International Airport, ehemals bekannt unter dem

Namen Nassau International Airport, ist der größte Flughafen der

Bahamas und das wichtigste internationale Tor zu diesem Land; er ist

außerdem ein Hauptdrehkreuz für Bahamasair. Der Flughafen liegt im

Westen von New Providence Island, nahe der Hauptstadt Nassau.

Allgemeine Informationen

Der Flughafen öffnete im Januar 1940 unter dem Namen Oakes Field,

benannt nach dem Millionär Harry Oakes, der maßgeblich zum Bau

beitrug. Er war der erste Flughafen der Bahamas. Zuvor wurde der

Luftverkehr in der Region vor allem über Wasserﬂugzeuge abge-

wickelt.

Während des Zweiten Weltkriegs, am 30. Dezember 1942, wurde der

Flughafen in eine Royal Air Force Station umgewandelt und Windsor

Field (nach dem Duke of Windsor) benannt. Windsor Field wurde für

Überführungsﬂüge US-amerikanischer Frachter und Bomber genutzt,

wie der Boeing B-17 und Consolidated B-24 sowie der Curtiss P-40,

vom Flugzeug-Hersteller an die afrikanischen und europäischen Kriegs-

schauplätze.

Er diente außerdem als Ausgangsbasis für die Patrouillen-Bomber

Consolidated Liberator I und North American Mitchell, die die U-Boote

der deutschen Marine bekämpften.

Nach Ende des Krieges, am 1. Juni 1946, zog sich die RAF von Wind-

sor Field zurück und übergab den Flughafen als Oakes Field wieder der

zivilen Nutzung als Haupt-Flughafen der Bahamas. Auf der Regional

Caribbean Conference, veranstaltet von der ICAO in Washington im

September 1946, wurde vorgeschlagen, Oakes Field als Langstrecken-

ﬂughafen auszuweisen. Oakes International Airport operierte bis Mit-

ternacht des 1. November 1957, als der Nassau International Airport

den vollen Betrieb aufnahm.

Der Name dieses Flughafens wurde am 6. Juli 2006 ofﬁziell geändert,

zu Ehren des The Right Honourable Sir Lynden Pindling (22. März 1930

– 25. August 2000), dem ersten Premierminister des Commonwealth

of the Bahamas (1973 – 1992). Sir Lynden wird als „Vater der Nation“

angesehen, da er 1967 das Mehrheitsprinzip auf den Bahamas ein-

führte und das Land 1973 in die Unabhängigkeit von Großbritannien

führte.

Installation

Bevor Sie die Installation von „Nassau X Bahamas International“ starten,

müssen Sie als Administrator angemeldet sein und sicherstellen, dass

FSX geschlossen ist.

Sollten Sie die Box-Version installieren, legen Sie die DVD „Nassau X

Bahamas International“ in Ihr DVD-Laufwerk. Der Installationsassistent

startet automatisch. Sollte dies nicht der Fall sein, öffnen Sie den

Explorer, wählen Sie das DVD-Laufwerk und klicken Sie doppelt auf

„Install Nassau X Bahamas International.exe“.

Befolgen Sie die Anweisungen auf Ihrem Bildschirm. Stellen Sie

sicher, dass FSX geschlossen ist. Es wird empfohlen, das System vor

der Installation neuzustarten. Melden Sie sich als Administrator am

Computer an! Beachten Sie, dass die Dateien bei der Installation

personalisiert werden. Wenn Sie diese mit anderen teilen, teilen Sie

zugleich Ihre persönlichen Daten.

Deinstallation von Nassau X Bahamas

International

Um „Nassau X Bahamas International Bahamas International” vollstän-

dig zu deinstallieren, klicken Sie auf den Windows-Startbutton und

wählen die Systemsteuerung aus. Unter der Rubrik „Programme und

Funktionen” ﬁnden Sie eine Liste aller bereits installierten Programme.

Suchen Sie „Nassau X Bahamas International“, klicken Sie das Pro-

gramm mit der rechten Maustaste an und wählen Sie „Deinstallieren“

aus.

Das Deinstallationsprogramm wird anschließend beginnen, alle „Nassau

X Bahamas International“-Dateien vom Festplattenspeicher zu entfernen.

Einträge in der FSX-Szenerieauﬂistung werden ebenfalls deinstalliert.

Introduction

Lynden Pindling International Airport was formerly known as Nassau

International Airport, and is the largest airport in the Bahamas, and

the largest international gateway into the country. It is a major hub for

Bahamasair and is located in western New Providence island near to the

capital city of Nassau.

General Information

The airport was opened in January 1940 and was known as Oakes Field

after Harry Oakes, the millionaire who made a large contribution to its

creation. It was the ﬁrst airport in the Bahamas. Prior to that aviation in

the Bahamas was largely carried out by seaplanes.

During World War II on 30 December 1942, the airport was renamed

Windsor Field (after the Duke of Windsor) and became a Royal Air Force

station. Windsor Field was used for delivery ﬂights of US-built ﬁghter

and bomber aircraft such as the Boeing B-17 and Consolidated B-24

bombers, and the Curtiss P-40 ﬁghter from the aircraft manufacturers

to the North African and European Theatres of War. It was also a base

station for Consolidated Liberator I and North American Mitchell patrol

bombers combating the German Navy‘s U-Boat threat.

After World War II on 1 June 1946 the RAF withdrew from Windsor

Field and Oakes Field reverted to civilian use as the main airport in the

Bahamas. At the Regional Caribbean Conference of the International

Civil Aviation Organization held in Washington in September, 1946, Oa-

kes Field was recommended for designation as a long range regular air-

port. Oakes International Airport was kept in operation until mid-night,

1 November 1957, when Nassau International Airport at Windsor Field

was brought into full operation.

The name of the airport was ofﬁcially changed on 6 July 2006 in honour

of The Right Honourable Sir Lynden Oscar Pindling (22 March 1930 –

25 August 2000), ﬁrst Prime Minister of The Commonwealth of the

Bahamas (1973-1992). Sir Lynden is recognised as the Father of the

Nation, having led the Bahamas to Majority Rule in 1967 as well as

Independence from the United Kingdom in 1973.

Installation

You have to be logged in with administrator rights before you start the

installation of “Nassau X Bahamas International“ and make sure that

FSX is closed.

Insert the DVD “Nassau X Bahamas International“ into your DVD drive.

The installation program will start automatically. If the installation

program doesn‘t start automatically click on START -> RUN.

Insert “D:\setup.exe” (D: represents your DVD drive).

Note: If you want to use both sceneries, the Iceland scenery needs to

be installed ﬁrst!

Follow the instructions on your screen. It is recommended to reboot

the system before installation. Log in as administrator on your

computer! Note that the ﬁles be customized during installation. If you

share data with others you share your personal information as well. If

you want to make any changes or install any updates for this scenery

you will need the original DVD or the installation ﬁle from the

download shop and your registration key again.

Removing Nassau X Bahamas Inter-

national

To fully remove “

” click on the “Start”

button in the Windows task bar, choose “Control Panel”. Here you will

see an icon named “Programs and Functions”. Click on this icon to open

it and you will see a list of all installed programs. Locate “aerosoft’s

Nas-

sau X Bahamas International

“, click once with the right mouse button

and then click on the “add-remove” button.

The uninstall program will now begin to remove the scenery “

Nassau X

Bahamas International

” ﬁles from your hard disk. Entries in the FSX

scenery library will also be removed.

you to add and remove objects from the scenery the installer will no-

tify you about closing the FSX/P3D before running the manager, if any

of the ﬂight simulators are running program will notify you and exit.
