IMPORTANT NOTE This guide is meant to assist users in setting up the

Partisol 2000i Air Sampler for PM2.5 sampling. It describes the primary

steps involved in setting up the hardware.

Although this document serves as a general guide, it does not provide the

detailed information contained in the instruction manual. For installation

issues not covered in this guide, refer to the instruction manual supplied

with the instrument. ▲

The Partisol 2000i Air Sampler ships in two boxes. The large rectangular

box contains the Sampler and the smaller box contains the PM10 inlet. The

long cylindrical carton houses the stand.

Unpack the box containing the instrument, and make sure that the package

contains the following components.

● 1 PM10 inlet

● 1 VSCC or other PM2.5 device

● 1 VSCC adapter

● 1 Filter transport container with 2 cassettes and carriers

● 3 rainhoods and associated hardware

● 1 Sample tube

● 1 Partisol stand

● 1 Ambient temperature sensor and cable

● 1 Flow audit adapter

● 1 Solid filter leak check/separator disk

● 1 9-to-9 pin null modem computer cable

● 1 Null modem adapter

● 1 Operating manual

● 1 Quick start guide

● 1 iPort package

● 1 RPComm package

Attach one gasket to each of the three rain hoods supplied with the unit.

Peel back the paper facing and apply the sticky side of the gasket to the

flanged part of the rain hoods.

The large rain hood goes on the right side of the Sampler. The smaller rain

hoods are installed on the back panel of the enclosure. The two smaller rain

hoods are interchangeable.

Using the provided screws, install the three rain hoods (with gaskets

attached) to the back, left and right sides of the enclosure.

Unscrew the Phillips screws on the left side of the instrument, and retain

the washers. Place the washers between the ambient temperature bracket

and the enclosure—not under the head of the screw, and secure the bracket

with the screws. Plug in the 3-pin connector on the back side of the

Sampler where “Temperature Sensor” is marked.

Open the filter exchange mechanism by pulling forward on its handle an

allowing it to drop into its open position. Remove the filter cassette carrier

with the installed cassette.

Lift the rollers of the filter exchange mechanism through the slots in the left

and right guides, and allow to drop down.

Attach VSCC Adapter to the bottom of the cyclone. Install the VSCC with

adapter into the inlet adapter at the top of the enclosure pushing straight

upward until it hits a stop.

Insert the rollers of the filter mechanism into the slots on the left and right

guides.

Note If using a WINS impactor, prepare as directed in the Preventive

Maintencance section of the instruction manual before installing in the

Sampler. ▲

Insert the 1-1/4-inch OD sample tube into the bulkhead of the Sampler.

Ensure that the tube is pushed past the upper and lower o-rings, which

provide some resistance, and hits the stop. Hand-tighten the dome

connector on the bulkhead to ensure a tight grip. Place the PM10 inlet over

the end of the sample tube. Ensure that the tube is pushed past the inlet’s

two O-rings, which provide some resistance, and hits a stop.

Snap apart the two halves of a filter cassette and insert a screen so that the

serial number is on the underside of the screen. Place a 47 mm diameter

filter over the screen. Snap the two halves of the filter cassette together.

Place the cassette in the rectangular filter cassette carrier.

Install the filter cassette carrier on the filter platform. The slot and hole line

up with the hardware on the platform. Push the handle of the filter

exchange mechanism backward to lock the filter cassette into its sampling

position.

Turn on the sampler.

Note Use the provided anti-static filter transport container when moving

the filter and carrier to and from the sampling site. ▲

Note Always place the split ring washer between the head of the bolt and

the washer. ▲

1. Assemble the bottom of the stand Items B and D by laying out the

front, back, and sides.

2. Place one leg on each bottom stand inside corner and fasten with

hardware F, G and H.

3. Attach the top front and back (Item A) to the outside of the legs with

hardware F, G and H. Do not tighten.

4. Fasten the right and left rails to the legs and top right and left rails with

hardware F, G and H.

5. Tighten all hardware.

Place the Sampler onto the stand, and secure using hardware E, G, and H.
