FlexPlate Installation
1. Install RadiantPEX
+
as outlined in the UnderFloor Applications section of the Radiant PEX, RadiantPEX
+
, RadiantPEX-AL Installation Manual.
2. Beginning on the loop-end of the circuit, approximately 12" away from the band joists or other blocking, place a FlexPlate heat transfer plate over
the RadiantPEX
+
, securing the plate with a 1" crown staple.
Note: Ideally, 4 staples should be used across the width of the plate, spaced at 12" intervals along the length of both
edges to insure optimum contact with the subfl oor.
3. Continue installing the plates end-to-end for the entire joist bay attaching two plates, side by side, leaving the RadiantPEX
+
installed 8" on center.
Refer to your design information for any deviation from this spacing.
4. Due to obstacles, obstructions or joist bay length, it may not be possible to install full-length FlexPlate plates within the joist bay. The length of the
last few plates may need to be adjusted to allow the last plate to remain 12" off of the band joist or blocking.
5. Repeat steps 1 through 4 until zone is completed.
Note: Plates may be trimmed to make them shorter. No de-burring is required due to the nature of the plate materials.
Minor fl oor penetrations, such as nails or screws, can be pushed through the FlexPlate material. Such items may
not need to be cut prior to plate install.
