2 Fundamental safety precautions
To ensure personal safety, it is important to follow these safety instructions.
These instructions must be kept.
2.1 Intended use
The hook bolt locks A are only suitable for use
àin dry rooms
àin automatic door systems for horizontal door leaves
àin entrances and interior areas of pedestrian trac in commercial plants and public areas
The hook bolt locks must not be used in re and smoke protection doors.
2.2 Safety notices
àThe mandatory installation, maintenance and repair work must be performed by properly trained personnel
authorised by GEZE.
àThe country-specic laws and regulations are to be observed during safety-related tests.
àIf unauthorised changes are made to the system, GEZE cannot be held liable in any way whatsoever for any
resulting damage, and the approval for use in emergency exits ceases.
àGEZE does not accept any warranty for combinations with third-party products.
àFurthermore, only original GEZE parts may be used for repair and maintenance work.
àThe connection to the mains voltage must be made by a professional electrician. Perform the power connec-
tion and equipment earth conductor test in accordance with VDE 0100 Part 610.
àUse an on-site 10-A overload cut-out as the line-side disconnecting device.
àIn compliance with Machinery Directive (2006/42/EC), a risk analysis must be performed and the door system
identied in accordance with CE Marking Directive 93/68/EEC before the door system is commissioned.
àObserve the current status of directives, standards and country-specic regulations, especially:
àDIN 18650: 2010-06 “Building hardware– Powered pedestrian doors”
àVDE 0100, Part 610: 2004-04 "Installing Electrical Power Systems with Nominal Voltages up to 1000 V"

The product should be installed or incorporated in such a way that eortless access to the product is guaranteed
during any repairs and/or maintenance, and that any removal costs do not stand out of proportion to the value
of the product
2.3 Safety-conscious working
àSecure workplace against unauthorised entry.
àWatch the swivelling range of long system parts.
àNever carry out work with a high safety risk (e.g. installing the drive, cover or door leaf) while alone.
àSecure the cover/drive panels against falling.
àUse only the cables prescribed in the cable plan provided. Cables must be shielded in compliance with the
wiring diagram.
àSecure loose, internal drive cables with cable ties.
àBefore working on the electrical system:
àDisconnect the drive from the 230/115 V mains and check to ensure that it is not supplied with power.
àDisconnect the control unit from the 24 V rechargeable battery.
àWhen an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) is used, the system will still be under voltage even when
disconnected from the mains.
àAlways use insulated wire-end ferrules for wire cores.
àAttach safety stickers to glass leaves.
àDanger of injury with opened drive. Hair, clothing, cables, etc. can be drawn in by rotating parts.
