TheVIAVAB-820boardonlyprovidesboongfromtheSPIROMwitheMMC.Thisseconexplainsthesetup

requirementsforboongfromtheSPIROMandeMMC.

Theinstallaonscriptles,theprecompiledU-Bootandimageareprovidedinthe"Firmware"folder.

2�1 BoongfromtheSPIROMwitheMMC

TheImages_autoinstall_sd.zipincludestwoversionsoftheAndroidEVKsystemimage(NXPi.MX6Quadand

i.MX6QuadPlus)andtheinstallaonscriptsles.

TherststepistoextracttheImages_autoinstall_sd.zipletomakeabootableMicroSDcardintoyourLinux

hostmachineandmakesureitisnotmounted.Opentheterminalonyourhostmachine.SelectintotheiMX6Q

oriMX6QPfoldertorunthemk_android6_install_sd.shasshownbelow,replacing<devicename>withthe

correctvalueforthecard,forexample"sdb".

*Important: Makesureyouarewringtothecorrectdeviceorthehostsystemenvironmentcouldbedamaged.

Next,ontheVIAVAB-820,setthebootashjumper(J11)totheMicroSDposionasshownbelow.

InsertthepreparedMicroSDcardintotheVIAVAB-820,connectanHDMIdisplay,andpowerontheVIA

VAB-820toiniatetheupdateprocessautomacally.

Update process screen

Whentheinstallprocessiscompleted,unplugthepowercableandremovetheMicroSDcard.

$ sudo ./mk_android6_install_sd.sh /dev/<device name>





3�1 SengUpU-BootParameters

WhensenguptheU-Bootparameters,therststepistoconnectthehostmachineandtheVIAVAB-820

throughtheonboardCOMconnector(J5).UseaserialportcommunicaonprogramsuchasPuTTY,GtkTerm,

orMinicomtoconguretheserialportsengandconnecttothedebugconsole.Thereyouwillbeabletosee

theU-BootbootlogandadjustsengsintheU-Bootconsole.
