Before proceeding with the installation, check that all the parts required are present. The packaging
should contain the following:
- PCI IEEE1394 card
- CD-Rom

NB:
The internal FireWire port is a port shared with the first external FireWire port. If for example, you
use the internal FireWire port for an external FireWire hub, you cannot use the first external FireWire
port on the PCI card for this purpose.
A P P L I C AT I O N O P T I O N S
If you want to do a lot more with your images very quickly: move or delete scenes, introduce beauti-
ful transitions and add titles, of course. What could be better and more convenient than to do this
using a PC? The data is digital and therefore a ready-to-process input for your PC. You will need to
transfer the data flow to your computer and this is where the FireWire card is required. FireWire (or
IEEE1394) is a fast data transfer medium that can achieve speeds of upto 400 Mbits per second.
If you wish to connect a device, ensure that you have the right driver for the product to be
connected.
H A R D W A R E I N S TA L L AT I O N
Before installing the hardware, take the following preventive measures:
Ensure that the PC is switched-off and that the mains voltage is disconnected. After you have opened
the computer casing, you can install the FireWire card in a free PCI slot, after removing the protective
metal plate. After installing the card, you may replace the computer housing cover and reconnect all
the cables you disconnected from the PC earlier.
After restarting the computer, Windows will automatically detect the new hardware. Windows will use
drivers that are generally already present within Windows.
The drivers will now be installed and the FireWire card is now ready for use. We advise you to restart
your computer before using the FireWire port.
