ADJUSTMENTS

Before installing this product, check
the contents of the kit listed below. If
anything is missing, please contact
your nearest Öhlins dealer.
Kit Contents

During storage and transportation,
especially at high ambient temperature,
the oil and grease used for assembling
may run out inside the packing and
damage the expanded polystyrene
packing material. This is not unusual
and is in no way detrimental to the
product.
Spring preload
Use the C-spanner provided in this kit.
Turn the spring platform nut (A) to set the
spring preload. Lock the setting with the
lock nut (B).
Compression damping
Low speed: Turn the slotted centre screw.
High speed: Turn the hexagon screw.
Turn clockwise (+) to increase damping,
turn counter clockwise (-) to decrease.
Rebound damping
Turn the wheel on the piston shaft above
the end eye/ bracket. Turn clockwise (+)
to increase damping, turn counter clock-
wise (-) to decrease.

NOTE!
When delivered the Öhlins shock absorber is
dialed to recommended settings for the specific
brand and make of the vehicle. If you have
changed the setting, reset according to the Set-
up data.
To reset: The adjuster has a right hand thread.
Turn the adjuster clockwise to fully closed (pos.
zero [0]). Turn counter clockwise to open and
count the clicks until you reach the recommended
number in the Set-up data.
CAUTION!
Do not use force, delicate sealing surfaces can be
damaged. Handtighten only.

Mounting Instruction
SHOCK ABSORBER YA 868 Center
for Yamaha FX Nytro, FX Nytro RTX, FX Nytro RTX SE
with set-up data

WARNING!
It is advisable to have an Öhlins dealer install
the shock absorber.

Compress the rear suspension so that the
limiter straps are no longer tight.

Remove the 2 lower screws of the center and
rear limiter straps.

Raise the rear end of the snowmobile so that
the track is off the ground. Make sure that
the vehicle is securely supported so that it
will not tip over.

Remove left inner idler wheel (shall not be
reinstalled).

Remove the original centre shock absorber
and gas reservoir by removing the hose
clamps. Do not remove the bracket for the
original gas reservoir.

Install the Öhlins shock absorber. The
piggyback reservoir should be at the bottom
according to figure.

Reinstall the 2 lower screws of the limiter
straps (center and rear). Do not reinstall the
left inner idler wheel*.
Make sure that all parts are securely attached.
NOTE!
Make sure that all bolts are tightened to the
correct torque and that nothing fouls or restricts
movement of the shock absorber when the
suspension is fully compressed or extended.
* When removing the inner idle wheel the wear
will increase on the hyfax. That is not an issue
in normal snowriding. But when riding in crust
or very packed snow we recommend that you
install ice scratcher(s).
