A new single board computer (SBC) for Hydra and Hydra Compact has

been introduced to support native SXGA+ and UXGA output timings on

iStudio.

Hydra and Hydra Compact – new single board computer (SBC)

Overview

The new SBC allows using the full SXGA+ and UXGA resolution for graphical information on

TUDIO. As such, the @STUDIO graphics (borders, audio bar graphs, fonts, clocks, …) will be

displayed with much better quality on SXGA+ and UXGA displays.

Via the @S

TUDIO GUI with the new SBC the following new timings can be selected:

• Projector Barco OverView DR+ SXGA+ Native

• Projector Barco OverView PU UXGA Native

All other timings are still supported.

Please note:

Timings for third-party displays (= non-Barco displays) are delivered on an as-is basis. Barco

does not give any warranties regarding the functionality of these timings.

The new SBC can easily be identified by

its second network connector on the slot

plate. The serial interface for RS232 is

now provided via an extra slot plate

immediately next to the SBC.

Please note:

Currently only the top network connection

is supported!

Furthermore the SBC not only requires a new internal power cable but will also have to be

taken into consideration when calculating the max. number of boards to be plugged in a

YDRA and a HYDRA COMPACT, respectively. The updated formulas are documented in the Hydra

user manuals and of course implemented in the BFO configurator.

Software and hardware compatibility

The new SBC is supported in @S

TUDIO 1.8.6 or higher.

Please note:

The

Studio 1.8.6 is a service release and only intended for Hydra systems containing the

new SBC!

Studio 1.8.6 should not be used to upgrade existing installations! The following

Studio release (1.8.7, due for Q4 2005) will again be applicable for upgrading existing

installations.

The new SBC requires overlay board OVL /3 or higher. A straight flat cable combined with an

adapter PCB is used to connect the SBC to the overlay board.

Please note:

Using the wrong flat cable will permanently damage the SBC!

Current SBC’s can be replaced or upgraded in the field.

As the new SBC completely replaces its predecessor, all H

YDRA and HYDRA COMPACT systems

will be equipped with the new SBC as of today.

The new items are available in BFO after sync. Prices remain unchanged.

The BFO configurator will use the new article numbers and apply the updated power formulas.
