Points to Note:
If the Modem fails to communicate with the panel even after the modem at the panel has
answered then the time out setting is too short. To increase the time refer to program-
ming option 2.
Ensure the screen saver and power options on you PC have not been enabled. There may
be certain conflicts between upload and downloads.
Ensure the panel number is correct in the Set System Defaults. Using the correct database
is always advised.
If you are still having a problem connecting to the panel via the modem, try starting a
new database. Run the Auto Program with the correct information and upload the data
from the panel.
It is always good practice when connecting the Genesis via modem to check the COM
Port settings and ensure that the default is set to COM Port 2.
The Modem type that is recommended for remote communication to the Genesis system
is a Netcomm Roadster Modem V.92 (pictured below), this Modem has been tested to
operate correctly and is best suited to the Netcomm GE-1000 Modem on the panel side.

Input:
The modem phone line input is for direct connection to a
phone line socket. This enables the modem to send and re-
ceive information for the Genesis Panel Version 2.
DC Input:
The DC Input must be connected to the Genesis Version 2
panel located at the 12v DC terminals, rather than getting its
power from an external source. This is required so that the
Modem Strings synchronise with the Genesis panel.
DB9 Connector:
The DB9 Connector is a terminal, which connects directly to
the PC RS232 Port on the Genesis Panel. This port is for
transferring information from the Genesis through to the Mo-
dem.
