INTENDED USE:
STERIS Toothbrush-Style Cleaning Brushes are intended to be used as an aid in cleaning dirty
instruments during the cleaning and decontamination processes. The cleaning brushes with bristles
comprised of brass or stainless steel are intended to remove surgical soils that cannot be removed
using nylon bristles. The cleaning brushes with nylon bristles are imbedded with antimicrobial agents,
which prevent the growth of bacteria, mold and yeast on the surface of the bristles.
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Stainless steel and brass bristles are not intended to be used on insulated, plated or coated instruments.
CLEANING & DISINFECTION:
New, unused brushes are provided non-sterile. Clean brushes after each use and disinfect between cases
or daily, at a minimum. Brushes can be cleaned manually or using an automated washer/disinfector.
INSPECTION:
Brushes should be inspected between uses and replaced when damaged (bent, frayed, worn, etc).
Damaged bristles and handles are ineffective in cleaning and may damage the device.
STORAGE:
Store brushes in a manner that will reduce cross-contamination.
DISPOSAL:
There are no special disposal instructions.
