UNIT DESCRIPTION
The DM-115-WP is a control module that is used to switch HID (High Intensity Discharge) lamps
from high to low and from low to high. The DM-115-WP includes a rugged weatherproof housing
for outdoor mounting applications. The DM-115-WP bases its bi-level switching on signals
received from a controlling device (see below).
With the DM-115-WP and a motion sensor, HID lighting will switch to a lower, energy saving light
level (high to low) after a space becomes unoccupied. When the space is again occupied, lighting
returns to full brightness (low to high).
Upon initial power up of HID lamps, or after a power failure or phase drop, the DM-115-WP
supplies full power for a 15 minute lamp warm-up. Then, lighting either remains at full level if
the space is occupied, or goes to the low level if unoccupied.
The DM-115-WP’s bi-level switching avoids the warm-up problem otherwise found when
controlling HID fi xtures. The switching is immediate and lights are no longer left on at 100%
when unneeded. This saves energy and adds convenience.
Controlling Devices
One or more controlling devices (such as the EW-105-24, or EW-205-24 motion sensor) must
be used to control a DM-115-WP. A single motion sensor can provide control for up to two
DM-115-WP modules. (See Control Wiring on page 5). One DM-115-WP is required for each
ballast.
A controlling device must:
1. Have its own power supply, or be able to be powered by the +24VDC output from a DM-115-WP.
2. Provide a +24VDC control output to the DM-115-WP.

DM115WP INSTALLATION
The DM-115-WP attaches directly to the HID ballast
housing.
Mounting
1. DANGER–Disconnect power to the fi xture and make
sure the circuit breaker is off. The fi xture’s capacitor
may also contain a stored high voltage charge!
Carefully open the ballast housing so that the ballast
and capacitor are easily accessible. Follow proper safety procedures to discharge the installed
capacitor inside the ballast housing.
2. Open a 1/2” knockout hole in the ballast housing where the DM-115-WP will attach.
3. Unscrew the metal conduit lock ring from the DM-115-WP box. The rubber washer might be
removed along with the lock ring; if so, replace the washer around the wires coming out of the
DM-115-WP.
4. Pull the wires into the ballast
xture.
5. Pull the wires through the metal
conduit lock ring. Push the
threaded end of the lock ring
through the knockout in the
ballast housing. Attach the lock
ring to the DM-115-WP through
the rubber washer.
6. Tighten the lock ring inside
the ballast housing so that a
watertight seal is achieved using the rubber washer between the DM-115-WP and the ballast
housing.
DANGERHIGH VOLTAGE
EQUIPMENT DAMAGE, PERSONAL INJURY AND DEATH CAN RESULT
FROM IMPROPER PROCEDURES AND INSTALLATION.
HIGH VOLTAGE FROM ORIGINAL CAPACITOR MUST BE SAFELY DISCHARGED.
Ballast Wiring
1. Refer to the wiring diagrams on the following page.
Connect WHITE/BLUE wire from the DM-115-WP to the B terminal on the bi-level capacitor.
Connect WHITE wire from the DM-115-WP to the C terminal on the bi-level capacitor;
from the same terminal complete the connection to the ballast with the WHITE wire.
Connect WHITE/ORANGE wire from the DM-115-WP to the A terminal on the bi-level capacitor.
Connect GREEN wire from the DM-115-WP to the fi xture ground.
Connect BLACK wire to:
lamp for 175 to 1000 Watt Metal Halide Systems.
ballast coil for High Pressure Sodium and Metal Halide Pulse Start Systems.
2. Reassemble the ballast housing, being careful not to pinch wires.
3. Motion sensor(s) can be attached to the pole at this time or after the fi xture is installed.
4. Mount the fi xture with the installed DM-115-WP and motion sensor. Balance the fi xture if
needed.
5. Reconnect the power cord to the fi xture (power should be off at the circuit breaker).

CONTROL WIRING
After the DM-115-WP is installed and the fi xture is mounted, low voltage control wire
connections can be made to the DM-115-WP. All low voltage control wires are in the 10’ black
cable connected to the DM-115-WP.
Make connections before the fi xture’s power is restored. When all connections are made,
continue to Testing.
NOTE: If you are not installing the motion
sensor at this time and you want the lights
to operate at full output (high), connect the
DM-115-WP’s low voltage Red and Blue
wires to each other.
Motion sensors: (typical connections)
1. Connect the sensor’s +24VDC Input to the
Red wire from the DM-115-WP cable.
2. Connect the Common from the sensor to
the Black wire from the DM-115-WP cable.
3. Connect the Control Output from the sensor
to the Blue wire from the DM-115-WP cable.
Control Configurations
One DM-115-WP is required for each ballast.
One sensor can control two DM-115-WPs.
The illustrations on this page show typical
confi gurations for DM-115-WP modules and
their associated lighting fi xtures and sensors.

TESTING
1. After the installation is complete and checked, turn on the main power to the fi xture circuits
and turn on any controlling switches.
The DM-115-WPs will supply full power to the HID lamps for 15 minutes for the lamp warm
up. After the warm up time has elapsed, the lamps can go to low.
2. To test motion sensor control: Lamps that are controlled by a motion sensor will go to low
if no motion has been detected and the sensor’s time delay has elapsed. Turn off all other
controlling devices to the sensor controlled lamps. Set the time delay on the sensor to
minimum, then move into the coverage area for the sensor. Remain still until the time delay
elapses. The lights should go to low.
3. Verify that other conntrolling devices turn the lamps to low as desired.
TROUBLESHOOTING
General checks:
Wires make proper contact.
Wires are connected to correct terminals or connector leads.
High voltage DM-115-WP wires are securely connected.
Wiring of switch, motion sensor or other control devices to DM-115-WP is correct.
Motion sensor adjustments: sensitivity and light level (if applicable), sensor alignment.
Lights do not turn on
Check breakers, fuses.
Check light level setting on motion sensor for proper adjustment.
Check motion sensor detection.
Check that HID xtures are plugged in.
Follow proper high voltage safety procedures and check wiring and connections in the ballast
housings.
Some lights in a DM-115-WP group turn on but others do not
Check the DM-115-WP connections to a fi xture that does not turn on in a connected group.
- Verify that proper wire contact is being made in the terminal block.
- Verify that connections are correct.
Verify that the bulb has not burned out.
Make sure you follow the recommendations found in the control wiring section.
All lights in a DM-115-WP group remain on high
Check to see if something is giving an “on” input to the DM-115-WPs.
Check controlling devices and connections to the DM-115-WPs.
Check light level setting on motion sensor for proper adjustment.
Check motion sensor detection.
Lights remain on low
The “on” input from the controlling device is not reaching the DM-115-WP group.
Check controlling devices and connections to the DM-115-WPs.
Check light level setting on motion sensor for proper adjustment.
Check motion sensor detection.
