1. Introduction
The Legrand AC1023 Intercom/Unity Relay Module
(see Figure 1) provides the relay interface between
the SCI Intercom Module (IC5001) or Unity Integration
Module (HA6001) and a third party electronic door
strike. This relay module supports a remote door
release capability as part of an SCI Intercom or Unity
system. It supports a 12 VDC door strike and is
powered by an appropriate third party AC to DC power
supply.
2. Description
Provides one 2.5mm DIN jack (or 2-pin cage connector labeled “POWER”) for connection to a third party 12 VDC
AC to DC power adapter.
Provides one 2-pin cage connector (labeled “CTRL”) for connection to the SCI or Unity Integration Module.
Provides one 2-pin cage connector (labeled “OUT”) for connection (up to 2A) to the electronic door strike.
Provides one 4-pin cage connector (labeled “DRY CONTACT”) that supports a Normally Closed (plus Common)
and Normally Open (plus Common) connections for use when a dry contact is used to initiate the door strike
(rather than the SCI or Unity system).
3. Installation
Installation of the Legrand AC1023 and related components is best accomplished at multiple times during new
construction, at “Rough-in” before the drywall is installed, and at “Trim-out” after the drywall is installed and painted
(see Figure 2).
IMPORTANT: Read the manuals that are included with all associated Unity products before installation of
any single component. If you are unsure of any of the following installation procedures contact Legrand
Technical Support @ 1-800-321-2343 option 1 or contact a Legrand installer.
A. “Rough-in” steps:
1. AC1023: Run a 16/2 cable from the door release location to the enclosure housing the
AC1023.
2. AC1023 (optional): Run a 16/2 cable from the optional Normally Closed or Normally Open contact
location to the enclosure housing the AC1023.
B. “Trim-out” steps:
NOTE: Make sure that the 12VDC Power Supply is not connected to the AC1023 Module.
1. Install the AC1023 in the enclosure by first attaching it to a single bay opening in an existing
bracket using the four corner plungers.

2. Connect the 16/2 cable from the door strike location to the 2-pin cage connector labeled “OUT
on the AC1023 module.
3. Connect the 16/2 cable from the back of the SCI Module or bottom of the Unity Integration
Module (“A” connection pins) to the cage connector pins labeled “CTRL” on the AC1023 module.
4. OPTIONAL: If being connected to a dry contact for control, connect the 16/2 cable from the
Normally Open or Normally Closed dry contact to the cage connector pins labeled “DRY
CONTACT” on the AC1023 module.
5. After all connections have been made, plug the 12VDC power supply cable into the 2.5mm DIN
power jack (or connect the cable to the “POWER” cage connector pins on the AC1023 module and
plug the power supply into an AC outlet.
NOTE: All AC powered devices in a Unity system should be powered up at the same time (i.e. use
a common power strip for the individual AC adapters).
6. Verify door strike functionality.
