CDDLive,iKonamplifiersorMerlinprocessor.Connectiontothecabinets andprocessorsisachievedusingtheUNetnetwork
protocol.VuNet isusedto monitor
andcontrolthesystem, EQoptimisations formulticellular arraysareuploaded from the
programandcabinetfirmwareischeckedandupdated.VuNetissuppliedreadyinstalledonthePanasonictabletPCsupplied
withMLAandMLACompactsystems.Itisanoptionalmethodofcontrolforfulluseof

SystemDisconnect
Thiswilldisconnecttheprojectfromthehardwareinthesystem.AWindowwillpopupgivingyouaselectionofoptions;
‐
Asyoucansee,onceyouaredisconnectedfromthesystemyouareunabletomakeanychangestotheproject,thisistoensure
compatibilityandaccurate synchronisationwhenyoureconnect.Youhavetheoptiontoreconnectstraightfromthewindowor
can close the project with or without
saving. Finally you can minimise the project. This is particularly useful if you have
disconnectedtoswitchfromaWiFitoahardwiredconnection,havingminimisedtocanaccessthePCnetworksettingtomake
theswitchtoacableEthernetconnection.
OnceDisconnectedtheDisconnectbuttonwill
changetoreconnectalsoallowingyoutoreconnecttotheproject;‐

edge and the left hand edge ofthe other windows. You can then drag either left or right to adjust the relative sixes of the
windows.Alternatively,
thewhitedropdownarrowgivesyoutheoptiontomaximisethescreen.Theotherwindowswillnotbe
closed;theywillberepresentedbyaniconontherightsideofthepagewiththeoptiontorestore.Clickingrestorewillreturn

Beforewemoveontolookataddingelementstoprojectsitisimportanttounderstandthedifferencebetweenworkingoffline
and normal online operation at an event. When working off line the Palette allows you to drop elements into the System
Diagram,youcanopenarrays,speakersand
Merlinsasyouwouldforanonlinesystem.Thisisusefulasameanstogetusedto
systemoperationinVuNetbut verylittlebeyondthat.UnlikesomesystemsyouCANNOTcreateasystemdesignofflineand
connect to a system on site. When connecting to a system you have to use Device Discovery which searches all available
connecteddevicesforsystemelementsandautomaticallydropsthemintothesystemdiagramshowingtheirEthernetandVu
NetConnections.ThisisvitalaseveryVuNetelementhasa
uniquefactorysetIPaddresswhichVuNetrecordssoitcanprovide
realtimemonitoringofthesystemandcandisplaythestatusofeverydevice.Ifforexampleyoureconnecttoasystemhavin g
useditononedayandshutdownovernight,VuNetwill
beabletodetectthateverycabinethasbeenturnedbackonandthe
statusofallparametersofeveryDSP.Wewillshowhowtointroduceallavailableelementsintoaprojectofflinebutwillcover
