Installthenewspindle.
PreparingtheMower
1.Thoroughlycleanmowerdeck.Alldebrismustbe
removedtoensurespindlewilltproperlyagainst
mowerdeck.
2.Repairallbentordamagedareasofmowerdeckand
replaceanymissingparts.
InstallingtheNewSpindle
WARNING
Whilemaintenanceoradjustmentsarebeingmade,
someonecouldstarttheengine.Accidentalstarting
oftheenginecouldseriouslyinjureyouorother
bystanders.
Removethekeyfromtheignitionswitch,engage
parkingbrake,andpullthewire(s)offthespark
plug(s)beforeyoudoanymaintenance.Alsopush
thewire(s)asidesoitdoesnotaccidentallycontact
thesparkplug.
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,disengagethe
bladecontrolswitch,andmovethemotioncontrol
leversoutwardtotheneutralpositionandengage
parkingbrake.
2.Removethebeltcoversfromthemowerdeck.
3.Removethemowerbeltfromthepulleysonthemower
deck.
4.Removethethreeboltsholdingthedeckpulleytothe
aluminumhub.Savethedeckpulleyanddiscardthe
bolts(
Figure1).
5.Raisethedecktothetransportposition.
6.RaisethefrontofthemachineandsupportitwithaZ
Stand®orjackstands(orequivalentsupport).
CAUTION
Raisingthemowerdeckforserviceor
maintenancerelyingsolelyonmechanical
orhydraulicjackscouldbedangerous.The
mechanicalorhydraulicjacksmaynotbe
enoughsupportormaymalfunctionallowing
themachinetofall,whichcouldcauseinjury.
DoNotrelysolelyonmechanicalorhydraulic
jacksforsupport.Useadequatejackstands
orequivalentsupport.
7.Removethebladefromthespindle.Savetheblade,
curvedwasherandbladebolt.
8.Removethespindleassemblyfromthemowerdeck.
9.Installthenewspindleassemblyunderthemower
deckwith6bolts(M10-1.5x25)and6nuts(M10-1.5)

10.Alignthethreeholesinthedeckpulleywiththethree
holesinthespindlehubandinstall3bolts(3/8x
3/4inch),3smallcurvedwashersand3atwashers
(Figure1).
11.Installthebladetothespindlewiththebladeboltand
largecurvedwasher.Torquethebladeboltto85-110
ft-lb(115-150N-m)(
