1. Introduction
Use an Essence HD camera with your WeR@Home
to view and record HD video. Essence offers both
indoor and outdoor HD cameras.
The Essence indoor HD camera is an HD cube network camera, which connects to WeR@Home
using
either Wi-Fi or an Ethernet cable connected to your internet router.

The Essence outdoor HD camera is a weatherproof, network, bullet camera, which fully integrates with
WeR@Home
. The outdoor camera supports the option of providing power via the network
connection using PoE.

Both HD cameras provide:
High quality 720p HD resolution and MJPEG encoding
Support for high quality picture resolution with multiple compression formats
Live view and recorded video viewable directly from the WeR@Home
app
The indoor HD camera supports audio capability for both live view and recorded video.

2. Adding the Indoor HD Camera to WeR@Home™
Before you physically install an indoor HD camera, add the camera to WeR@Home
.
To add an indoor HD camera to WeR@Home™:
1. Connect the power cable to the camera and a power source.
2. On your router, press the WPS button. For more information, refer to the router’s documentation.
3. Connect the camera to the same home Wi-Fi network as your mobile device.
4. On the back of the camera, press and hold the WPS button for two seconds.

The NET LED flashes green until the camera connects to the router. When the camera is
connected, the LED lights steady green.
NOTE: If your router doesn’t support WPS, you can connect the indoor camera
to the router using an Ethernet cable. For information on switching to Wi-Fi
following the installation, refer to Chapter 6 on page 10.
5. Open the WeR@Home™ app.
6. Tap . The main menu appears.
7. Tap DEVICES. The DEVICES screen appears.
8. Tap . The Add New Devices screen appears displaying the available device types.
9. Select HD Camera. The HD Cameras screen appears displaying the list of HD cameras on your
network.
10. Tap the HD camera you want to add. The Pairing screen appears as the device scan begins. The
pairing process allows the HD camera to communicate with the hub. When pairing succeeds, a
window appears prompting you to enter a name for the HD camera.
11. Enter a name and/or location for the HD camera and tap OK.

Before you physically install an outdoor HD camera, add the camera to WeR@Home™.
To add an outdoor HD camera to WeR@Home™:
1. Connect the power cable to the camera and a power source. As an option, you can power the
camera with the Ethernet cable using a PoE injector.
2. Connect an Ethernet cable to the HD camera and your internet router. Make sure to connect the
camera to the same network as your mobile device.
3. Open the WeR@Home
app.
4. Tap . The main menu appears.
5. Tap DEVICES. The DEVICES screen appears.
6. Tap . The Add New Devices screen appears displaying the available device types.
7. Select HD Camera. The HD Cameras screen appears displaying the list of HD cameras on your
network.
8. Tap the HD camera you want to add. The Pairing screen appears as the device scan begins. The
pairing process allows the HD camera to communicate with the hub.
When pairing succeeds, a window appears prompting you to enter a name for the HD camera.
9. Enter a name and/or location for the HD camera and tap OK.

4. Installing the Indoor HD Camera
You can mount the HD indoor camera on a table, or on a wall or ceiling. Before you install, make sure
to add the HD camera to WeR@Home™, refer to Chapter 2 on page 4.
To install the indoor HD camera on a table:
1. Place the camera in the location you want.
2. Loosen the adjustment knob. Move the camera to the position you want. Tighten the adjustment
knob.
3. Connect the power cable.
4. If you are using a wired connection, connect the Ethernet cable to the HD camera.
To install the indoor HD camera on a wall or ceiling:
1. Prepare the following equipment:
A drill with an appropriate bit
A Philips screwdriver
If you are using a wired connection, an Ethernet cable long enough to reach between your
internet router and the location where you plan to install the HD camera
2. Select a location based on the following guidelines:
Clean, dry, smooth surface that can support the weight of the camera.
Near a power outlet
Not exposed to direct sunlight
Not in greasy and humid locations, like a kitchen
Not in locations with extreme temperatures
3. Apply the installation template onto the ceiling or wall where you want to install.
4. Drill holes according to the installation template.
5. If you are using wall anchors, insert them into the holes.

6. Screw the camera into place.

8. Connect the power cable.
9. If you are using a wired connection, connect the Ethernet cable to the HD camera.

5. Installing the Outdoor HD Camera
You can mount the outdoor HD camera on a ceiling or a wall. Before you install, make sure to add the
HD camera to WeR@Home™, refer to Chapter 2 on page 4.
To install the outdoor HD camera:
1. Prepare the following equipment:
A drill with an appropriate bit
A Philips screwdriver
Ethernet cable long enough to reach between your internet router and the location where
you plan to install the HD camera
Optional: A PoE injector. A PoE injector provides power to the camera over the network
connection and may not be included with the camera.
2. Select a location based on the following guidelines:
Clean, dry, smooth surface that can support the weight of the camera.
Not exposed to direct sunlight
Not in locations with extreme temperatures
3. Apply the installation template onto the ceiling or wall where you want to install.
4. Drill holes according to the installation template.
5. If you are using wall anchors, insert them into the holes.
6. Screw the camera into place.

8. Connect the power cable. As an option you can power the camera with the network cable using a
PoE injector. A PoE injector may not be included with the camera.
9. Connect the Ethernet cable to the HD camera.

6. Configuring the HD Camera
You can configure the HD cameras in your WeR@Home™ as follows:
Change the HD camera name.
Select a Wi-Fi network.
Run an HD camera firmware upgrade.
Enable or disable video transmission:
To allow the HD camera to transmit video, enable.
To reduce network traffic, disable.
Caution: If you disable, you will not be able to view video from the camera and
no video will be stored
To configure an HD camera:
1. Tap . The main menu appears.
2. Tap DEVICES. The Devices screen appears.
3. Tap for the HD camera you want to configure.
4. Make your changes.
5. Tap OK.

Use the WeR@Home
app to view the following types of video from your HD cameras:
Live – You can view live HD videos in real time.
StoredView previously recorded videos, if supported by your HD camera service level.
Caution: HD cameras transmit video continually. You can reduce network traffic
by disabling video transmission. If you disable, the camera stops working. Refer
to 6 Configuring the HD Camera on page 10.
The length of a stored video is configurable by the service provider at the server level. For example,
the service provider can define the recording time as one hour, for any stored video.
NOTE: When your HD cameras are being serviced, viewing your WeR@Home
live or stored HD videos is temporarily suspended.
7.1. Viewing Live Video
You can view real time, live video from your HD cameras with or without audio.
To view a live video:
1. Tap . The Video screen appears displaying a list of available camera devices.
2. Tap for the HD camera you want. The live view screen for the chosen HD camera appears.

Mute/unmute the camera’s audio.
Take a snapshot. The snapshots are saved in your phone’s photo gallery.
The camera always records HD video. You can change the quality of the
video display:
- HD is on. Tap to turn off.
- HD is off. Tap to turn on.
View stored HD videos.
7.2. Viewing Stored Video
Your HD camera stores HD videos in the cloud, if supported by your HD camera service level. Your HD
camera service level also defines how far back your videos are stored.
To view your HD camera service level, in the WeR@Home
app, at the bottom of the main menu ,
tap . For information about how much storage your HD camera service level allows, check your
service provider’s website.
To view a stored HD video:
1. In the app home screen, tap
. The Video screen appears displaying a list of available
camera devices.
2. Tap for the HD camera you want.
3. Select a date and time and tap OK. The video player plays the stored video that includes the
selected date and time. The length of a stored video is pre-defined by the service provider.

Note: The time the video was recorded is displayed above the
slider.
Move to the next pre-defined period.

Mute/unmute the camera’s audio.
Take a snapshot. The snapshots are saved in your phone’s photo

The camera always records HD video. You can change the quality
of the video display:
- HD is on. Tap to turn off.
- HD is off. Tap to turn on.
Select another time period.
