CLEANING, INSPECTION, AND MAINTENANCE
1.
Caution:
Always disconnect the Multi-Purpose Machine from its electrical power
supply source before performing any cleaning, inspection, or maintenance.
2. Before each use, inspect the general condition of the Multi-Purpose Machine.
Inspect switch, power plug and cord assembly, and extension cord (if used) for
damage. Check for loose screws, misalignment, binding of moving parts, bro-
ken, cracked parts, and any other condition that may affect its safe operation. If
abnormal noise or vibration occurs, turn off the Multi-Purpose Machine immedi-
ately and have the problem corrected before further use. Do not use damaged
equipment.
3. Do not introduce water into the electric motor through the motor vents.
4. With a brush, soft cloth, or vacuum, remove excess metal shavings from the
Multi-Purpose Machine.
5. If necessary, wipe with a damp cloth. You may use a mild solvent.
6. Once clean, lubricate all moving parts with a light oil.
7. When storing, keep the Multi-Purpose Machine covered with a cloth cover.
CHANGING THE LATHE SPEEDS
To change the lathe speed you must first remove the Pulley Shell (36) which is
attached by the two Bottom Head Screws (35). Next you must create slack in the
V-Belt (23) by turning the Movable Joint Bolt (167) counterclockwise. Once there
is sufficient slack in the V-Belt, remove it from the two pulleys and re- position it
on different grooves on the pulleys to change the speed. The smallest groove
on the Motor Pulley (168) will produce the speed of 500 RPM. The middle
groove on the Motor Pulley (168) will produce the speed of 900 RPM. The larg-
est groove on the Motor Pulley (168) will produce a speed of 1600 RPM. After
you have repositioned the V-Belt turn the Moveable Joint Bolt (167) until you
have the proper tension on the belt. Then tighten the nut (172) to lock it in place.
The final step is to replace the Pulley Shell (36).
